Meyer Hatchery did a fantastic job packaging the eggs. We didn't find any cracks and all the air cells looks good. In a few days we will find out if the eggs are fertile! If most of the eggs are fertile then we will be VERY impressed with Meyer Hatchery!

Week 3 of Incubation! HATCHING Chicks! Nurture Right 360
Had two from the last hatch that needed help. I left them in the incubator and slowly cracked the shell. I used a small but wide paint brush with soft bristles and kept brushing the membrane with warm water. They both hatched and are now perfectly healthy. Anyone says you should never do this is dead wrong. If I hadn't they would have died. You see a chick having a hard time you help it. Bottom line.
If you have a stuck chick, be sure to wet your fingers and dab all the dry areas before pulling! You can easily rip the skin.
How do you tell after a week if they are fertile or dead or what not
Only one experience, but my pipping birds seemed to do better when I left the new chicks in the incubator. I think they call to each other, from day one.
First of all, you were SCARED of a chicken. Secondly you just toss the baby chicks unto the hen and watched her as she pecked hard on that one chick. And pecked the few others. Wtf is wrong with u??
❤❤❤
Do they still need the heat lamp if she adopts them? Won't that make her hot?
Good mommy
I noticed there was no perch in the jail, was that by design?
I think you could put a small perch in there, but we didn't feel it was necessary.
I had like this i used q-tips and warm water to slowly hydrate the dry areas and got it easier to remove both lived and are peeping a storm and yes stress level at 100% 😂 it took me 3 hours to get 2 done and omg was it horrible but im happy they lived
Nice work!! It is a bit traumatic, but you did good!!
Play the music is driving me nuts.
Thank you for sharing
So many Google chicken professionals in the comments. Who know?
hahaha Thanks for the comment!!
What is a Google chicken professional?
I’m glad you cleaned up Bonnie’s brooder I thought an episode of hoarder chicken was going to start playing .
Lol stop torturing baby chicks and remove them after they have been attacked it doesn’t take them being pecked 30 x to know they mother is not safe / broody good mama glad you had Bonnie .
I gotta try this hatchery. Had some bad luck on eggs from eBay
Did she successfully raise all 12?
Was this a complete dry hatch?
Lol 😂 I just put 20 day olds under my first time broody hen and snuck away in the dark, worked like a charm.
Whaaaaat? 20 day olds?? That’s way bigger than I would have thought !! Do you mean 20 day old chicks? Or 20th day eggs ?? I’ve got a couple of 10 day old chicks and now all of a sudden I have 4 broody hens 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️ I tried to give one a couple of chicks a couple of days ago and it did not go well lol
Omg I LOVE how puffy they get!!!
I love this so much and I can’t stop thinking about it
That look likes a pretty new home ? What kind is it and where do I get one ?
Looks like maybe a Formex Snaplock coop?
Can you incubate the first set of eggs layed by first time laying guinea fowl or do you wait till they lay for a while?
What breed is the beautiful calm hen?
Those orpingtons( am sure the spelling is wrong sorry)i had one,she would always adopt and was a perfect mom
Your nest-side manner could use a little work.
How not to put chicks with a hen
What temp and humidity range do you use for Guinea eggs in the 360 nurture right (with induced airflow that’s still / not forced)??? I’m at day 20. My temp has stayed steady at 100.0 and humidity at 65%. Advice welcome. Thank you. Enjoyed your footage.
welldone
I put baby chicks UNDER the hen and she doesn't peck babies.
What did you put as the days and temperature for the naked neck.
After shipping how long u have to wait plus what room temp
When possible it is best to let mother hens hatch their own eggs. The chicks and mother hen start bonding even before hatching, and incubated chicks have difficulty becoming mothers when they grow up, they need the voice, comfort and movement that a mother hen provides to develop to their full potential.
I never let my hens raise their own babies. I keep two Wyandotte sisters that go broody constantly, and I put hybrid, heavy, egg production breeds under them to raise.. those hybrids never go broody but I get 300 to 320 eggs a year from them so they are a profitable breed to have. My Wyatt dots are incredibly content mothers. They don’t care if the babies are not theirs.
@@donnastormer9652 yes, hens raise each others eggs to chicks very well, I meant that was chicks are better off raised by a mother hen than an incubator/human. As long as a hen lays on them and raises them they will develop to their best potential.
This was quite possibly the cutest video I have seen ❤ What a good Mama
OMG you are back! Good to see you hatching again. I can't wait for spring!
Yeah, haven't been hatching as much lately, but this will be a fun experiment.
Baby play pens make great brooders. And cheap to purchase used. Fold up and store. I use puppy pads for the first 3-4 weeks easy clean up and chicks do not eat it like shavings.
WOW who knew you could do this.
shame poor little chicks, it must be so distressing for them not having a mother hen to reassure and comfort them during the hstching process...
God bless you sir. even the song is a gospel song. right? il subscribe your channel. very calm and experience the goodness of God. amen.
You just made 12 little babies and mum VERY HAPPY. WELL DONE,
I had a mother hen that would disappear for a few weeks and show up with ten new chicks. I put her in a dog house outside my back door and something killed her last night. I found all the babies but dammit i should have just left her to raise them. Now i have to
5:55 i think thats when she excepted them. Hear her sound change
That's cool.
Do it at night time, please don't throw chicks at the hen . Believe it or not the hen will kill them ,I have seen it with my own hens and the chick she killed was hatched underneath her for the 21 days. I would consider yourself lucky that the hen did not really lose her temper. A tip for the future if you can't reach the hen either find another broody hen or just crawl comando style. Keep up and keep going nothing better than raising chicks to adult chickens .
Mama is like, how am I gonna support these kids?!
You got lucky this time. I did this a few months ago and everything was fine for two days but on day three she scalped two of the new chicks. No rhyme or reason just had them to bury.
I put my chicks directly under her even with her pecking me to death, she accepted all 5 chicks.
great video, thanks for this.. I have 2 guinea eggs in my incubator, went to candle them and they have long fractures down the side, unlike chicks that pip a smaller hole.. These babies seem more active at hatch too!
There’s no rhyme or reason why a broody hen will and will not accept the chicks. My broody left her clutch early and I needed to incubate the ones she left. When I reintroduced them she accepted them at first but two days later had scalped them. I see this scenario playing out over and over here with my hens and from others here on YT. I’m thinking they just sense something is wrong with the chicks in that maybe they’re weak or simply not hers. It’s just how it goes sometimes and it’s not usually the human’s fault.
I agree with you! Thanks for your comment. Most comments on here aren't very nice. :)
Why are scared of broody hen by throwing the chick?
