I’ve been working in the oilfield since I was 19 years old, I remember watching this video back in 2009 before I applied to become a Tester, spent 7 years as a Well Tester like the soldiers in this video, I’ve now moved on to the production sector, I’m born and raised in Alberta and extremely proud of my Province, LONG LIVE ALBERTA.

This song is about the cultural shock of being a Newfoundland er, leaving small town nfld, and your family and friends, to go move 3000kn away to work Alberta oil fields. “All hell for a basement “ was like many already saidRudyard Kipling. These Gordie , is most under appreciated Canadian Gordie ever

When my daughters were little, like, 3 and 8, we'd play this whole CD at top volume and they'd dance their hearts out with me. (My wife thought we were crazy!) But the music just drives right through you, and the kids could feel it, and just let themselves go with it. It was very, very fun.

what i hate most, is scocial media like reddit compare iol workers as rascies bigots. i meet people from all over the globe, they come here for a reason. if it was that easy to make that money they would do it themselves, those with hard work and ambition will succed. the otheres can stay at home, we dont need you

That little wimp in Ottawa hates Alberta because he wouldn't last a day working out here. The men and women in the oilpatch are a breed he only only can dream about when he's spanking his little chicken.

Judging by the comments from a bunch of thick MAGA-type Canadians below, they seem to not catch the band's name or its environmental message they unknowingly embrace. This band, by using Conservatives' own confirmation bias words and thoughts, point out folly: jobs over destroying the earth, profits over people. Big Sugar is the industry in America that has polluted the once pristine waters of Florida's Everglades with its runoff of fertilizers and sugar mill waste. Native species have died off or suffered greatly because Big Sugar funds the campaigns of Nationalists and Fascists in America to give them carte blanche to continue using the Everglades as their own toilet. This song, about an unemployed New Foundlander, a poor soul lamenting the fact he has to leave home to find work in Alberta. This place promising jobs is where there were so many drill sites in former First People's lands that Alberta looked like a country trapped inside an Iron Maiden. The song lyrics mocks draining the gas and oil out of Hell's power plant. There will be Hell to pay for cheating the Devil out of what is his. The New Foundlander is a man from a land of fresh salt air trying and clean North Atlantic waters who is trying to quiet his conscience which he must dirty. He has to move West for the stench of the mad chase of carbon fuels. He will take part in the growing pollution of pristine lands with deforestation. He knows he might help hew new roads for non-public use which will cut through forests and prairies lands to drill sites which are their terminus. Out where the gas flares, into the night skies, star lovers and amateur astronomers have to move further up the road to avoid the light pollution There is no Happy Motoring here of the Esso Advertising of old. Where these roads end, men drill down to Hell's basement to steal Satan's fuel. This desperate young man seeking work has seen the news video clips of noisy, big machinery in the former wilds, machinery needed to maintain the power plants for Earth's dominant, un-thinking, uncaring species. This song is not what these Canadian MAGA types below in the comments section think. However, this song is a clever look at the never-ending cycle of depraved growth at any cost and how poor people of the Underclasses have to sell their souls and try not to think about the consequences of their actions going forward.
