the devs had a feeling they should add the removal tool in the inventory wheel, well anticipated.

This is how the drive acts like when you format a 1.44MB floppy disk with it under Windows 7.

So I did a bit of trolling with my FIC 486 board, which has a funky clock chip, able to go as low as 2MHz (yeah, 2...).

This poor thing had a head crash on the outside of platter no. 3, resulting in an unusable drive (can't make any partitions), so I decided to film it in action, opened!

This is literally the computer I grew up with. Thank you for capturing the sounds of the two floppy disk drives and hard drive starting, followed by the happy BOOP
That hard drive must aswell be a sandpaper disc holder
So why isn't this card on TRW? Looks like a DMA-driven DAC card...there were a good number of arcade games which used DMA-driven DACs to generate sound.
Radiotehnika...the Latvians really know how to make good speakers...
*Granpa after hearing this:* Vietnam War Flashbacks 💀💀💀
Why did they put a H.O.R siren in there!?
Given that it's Maxtor, I'm surprised the heads haven't crashed yet
I have an old 80MB Black Maxtor that sounds about as bad.
Early IDE stepper drives before voice coil actuators replaced them for good. I have one of these drives and is in fairly good shaped.
Bro played Star Wars music on a HDD(*R.I.P. HDD*)

Modern HDD’s usually have a speed of 60-130 MB/s compared to this!
Sounds like those big frogs when you pick them up
TOOO SHOrt!!!
Mechanics turning into digits is so exciting!

Drive died right as it was about to play a movie, it had to do the THX sound itself.
Lol , so much !!!
Utterly insane that we expected these to last billions of cycles of the heads being moved back and forth between extremes at 100Hz. Madness, I tell you.
lol love the hdd sound wish it were ide though
Sounds like a 7/10 port HOR siren
Bottleneck your pc like a champ
Bro got a quantinum computer
damn, I had so many old maxtor hdds that sounded just like this. Surprisingly they were my most reliable drives haha! Ah, the memories. So long IDE, front side bus, and single core CPUs... my youth long in the past.
i thought this was normal with old drives? i hear it all the time in 90s computers
Those bearings are beyond shot!
It’s perfect for me, I’ve been searching for a hard drive that noisy for a while
There’s just something really sark about the clicks as the system dies it’s memory count and check.

This is what RUclips was made for.
Forgotten technology =)
If you're going to run a drive open, keep the platters vertical. It stops dust landing on them.
kinda cool seeing all the text draw out like that tho
i like this drive it looks like a guy driving a big bicycle
I can't unsee it now
Witchcraft
Still faster than my old laptop
is it any faster than a 1x or 2x drive?
Theoretical. But with LS 120 120 MB. Super imation disks.
