Set up the Best Your Racquet Balance, Shakehand Grip
If you don’t like to perform smashes and very fast topspins, then perhaps it is because your racket has a bad balance! In this video - how to find the best game balance for you personally for Shakehand grip, and how to alternate it with the training balance? Is it legal? ITTF allows this in competition?
Yes, it is legal. The rules say that the blade must be 85% natural wood. And there are no such restrictions on the handle.
Hi, my backhand strokes fly out after 2-3 balls , please can you advise
I recommend watching my three videos about balance and to check the balance of your racket as in this video. Of course, if there are no serious mistakes in the technique of strokes.

Hi Victor! I am impressed by your racket. Can you please tell me the weight of your racket and how it is compared to a regular one? and also would you recommend your racket to new players or only veterans who knows how to use both shake hand and pen hold styles?
Hi Yuvalsh! Thanks for your comment. Are you interested in the weight of my racket or its wooden part - the paddle? If you are interested in the weight of the paddle, then mine weigh about 15 grams more than shakehand paddles, which I modified into my paddles. In my video Fundamental Analysis of Table Tennis Grips ruclips.net/video/fXgfUAboK7U/видео.html I explained that penhold grip likes heavy rackets. Therefore, my paddle is fine with the weight. About my recommendations: 1) to new players 1.1) A new player who learns how to play by watching RUclips???????????? ???????????????? 1.2) A new player who is helped by an experienced player? It will be enough and great for the new player if the experienced player using RPB grip. I am sure that this experienced player will like my paddle and grip. 2) to veterans Any veteran with any penhold grip will almost immediately begin to enjoy playing with my paddle and grip, especially from backhand. This veteran does not need experience playing with shakehand grip at all.

I like this...Mr P
Thanks for your comment. I'm glad if there was something useful for you in my video.
Wow. I have wondered why I played so much better with my Stiga allround classic after trimming the head down by around 3mm, the balance allows me to play faster and keep the ball on the table, even during aggressive shots, this with a non tensor rubber, once my confidence goes up, I hit harder, spin better and recover way faster and smoother, I also noticed that Technically faster blades did not give me faster shots as the balance was not working for me. Good to hear all this, now I can think about the angle control you have mentioned. 😂
Thanks for your comment. Yes, balance is more important when doing fast strokes. Also because we are often in a hurry (doing fast strokes) and less control what we are doing.
@@victorpopovich Ok, so rather than cutting down I will now try adding some grams to the handle to see if I get a similar control, will the bat head feel lighter and therefore allow me to swing and recover faster too ?
So that I can be sure of my answer - are you a shakehander or a penholder?
@@victorpopovich Hi. I am a shakehander, often stepping too far from the table too soon, so I have a strange set of requirements, from my blade. Close to the table I move fast to attack so prefer a lighter blade, but as I tend to serve and step back too early I also tend to loop hard so as not to lose too much pace from the distance. I also use a stiga allround classic, if I go to an offensive blade I tend to over hit, putting in more power than I can control and consistency drops, but when I drop from the table works well as the range is manageable with the power. A habit I am trying to work out.
Hi, Insert 5 - 7 grams of weight into the paper and secure it to the end of the handle with a rubber ring. And pay attention when performing tops at high speed - have you become better at consistency than before? If so, try 10 grams. Please let me know the result of your test.
I don't understand ehy we have to change balance between training and competition play. Is it a risk of injury to muscle and hand ? I play in european shakehand grip.
Thanks for your comment. I said: do not do this before the competition until you check it in training games. When 3-10 grams of weight are added to the end of the handle with shakehand grip, the ball flies from us along a lower trajectory and flies off the table less often, which means it hits the table more often. And since the muscles quickly get used to these additional 3-10 grams, it is necessary to play without this additional weight in training, and then add this weight before the games. Even if your racket is very light, 3-10 grams at the end of the handle has absolutely no risk to muscle and hand.
Interesting, I have never thought of it. Let me add this into my training

@@arnehammarlind4420 You refer to my good friend Lennart Brendling or maybe myself. Our rackets are aiming at the same goal, namely bringing down the playing surface relative to the hand. Really, my racket are the one more resembling the Popovich embodiment but my own handle is 3D printed and supports the wrist instead the area near the thumb. Maybe I someday want to endorse it.
@@rolfstromberg7808 Yes, it was Lennart Brendling 😃👍
It is 100% reverse penhold grip, yes. It is 100% _zero_ classic cpen or jpen. It is not a shakehand grip at all, period If I were to give it a name, it would be rpb/handsaw(or hacksaw) grip.
Thanks for the comment. My grip has a bent index finger, while the traditional shakehand grip has straight finger. So my grip is 100% shakehand greetings grip, while the traditional shakehand grip is 95% shakehand greetings grip. Which finger in my grip does not correspond to shakehand greetings grip? Why is my grip not a shakehand greetings grip at all?
in this grip, you cannot use your fingers and the friction effects.
What do you mean with friction effects?
Thanks for the comment. Please explain: 1 What grip uses fingers? 2 What does this grip use fingers for? 3 Where can I find out what the friction effects are? Or you explain what the friction effects are. Since this is not one effect, but effectS, please list these friction effectS.
@@victorpopovich I believe that penholders use fingers at the back of the paddle when trying to brush the ball, which is what many people call "friction effect". But this is a combination of penhold and shakehand, so it naturally doesn't have every aspect of the penhold grip. Well designed grip in any case.
@@shouey6359 Thanks for the comment. I am sure that my grip has all the aspects of a penhold grip. In what type of stroke do you think mine does not have it? And what aspect exactly?
@@victorpopovich It's not a matter of which stroke your grip can't do, it's more the way one plays a stroke. So to generate more spin when slicing or when making a forehand loop using the current penhold grip, a lot of players will use their fingers at back of the paddle (near the centre) to complement their stroke. Naturally, your grip will create another method for people to generate spin, since the fingers are no longer at the back of the paddle (centre).
will def try it

Hi Victor.. thank you for your funny and informative video about various grips in table tennis. I am playing penhold blade but my grip is somehow different in a way that my pointy finger hooked & grip in the middle part of the handle and 3 fingers sort of spread about 1/4th of the length of the playing blade. I am still having difficulties in trying to preserved the pushes of the traditional penhold because of my "RPB" grip.. so I guess I am still in pursue of the kind of grip that can adopt both modern and traditional penhold way of playing, because I think the traditional grip has its own benefit (fast and deceptive on the table). I hope this grip of yours can provide me those capabilities.
Hi Julest, When you backhand hit, do you try to decrease the angle between the blade and the palm? (This is the main advantage of the RPB over the traditional penhold) When you hit the right, do you try to increase the angle between the blade and the palm? (This gives a great forehand hitting and from reflecting balls aimed at your elbow)

Absolutely love the metrics. Thanks for taking the time to make this video! By the way I was looking for two metrics where traditional penhold should get more points than shakehand, but couldn't find them: Basically, traditional penhold doesn't have a cross over point (elbow), while shakehand has it (and thus it's a weakness). Also, both penhold styles are better at handling short balls (within the table) because the paddle is closer to the wrist, so it can be controlled more precisely. Maybe for the future videos? :)
Thank you for your comment. When I saw that my grip was 70 out of 70, I felt almost ashamed, so I checked several times and couldn’t find where I could set it lower. I gave the ratings objectively and the traditional penhold is worse than the shakehand, because of the backhand. I completely agree that it is better to reflect balls into the elbow with the traditional penhold at the table. I mentioned in the video that the traditional penhold is better for forehand playing than the RPB.

Well this dosent seem to be something that is never gonna get made for mortals. It looks like you put a handle on a jpen blade. Dosent seem to be wery comfortable either. Might be wrong but after all this year's more should have picked up and made their own style of this blade.
If I cut off the standard handles of the jpen blade and the euro blade - how do you tell from the video which one I remade? Grip is the most conservative thing in table tennis. Therefore, none of the athletes will change their grip. And amateurs follow the athletes and also rarely change their grip.

Spinlord Marder, DER Materialspezialist Turtle Twister Soft.
2 ruclips.net/video/quG6vy0_-l8/видео.html Вы в Германии? me77771@gmail.com
Is that the guy from ping skills?
