Pin Frogs + Wildflowers for an Eco-Friendly Design | Episode 63 of Blossoms and Bourbon
Pin frogs are a great mechanic that are eco-friendly and offer so many options. While often used for very modern/Asian-style designs, in this episode, watch as I use multiple pin frogs in the same container! This allows for more insertion points and ends up with a very whimsical wildflower design! And, today’s bourbon is another score from my NC beach vacation. End of Days bourbon originates from a distillery located in Wilmington, NC. While the mash bill on this one includes a bit of rye, it is not spicy hot in the least - a very nice pour. Which parts of the arrangment are related to this session's topic rhythm? Help me understand rhythm in flower designs? 🙏
Hi and thanks for this great question! Rhythm refers to the visual movement (or how your eye moves) thru a design. This is usually created thru repetition or gradation. I have used repetition of the container (the glass vase that is bound into the branches in multiples) as well as some of the materials themselves being repeated thru the design. I hope this helps! Love this it very beautiful and unique but I have curious question I been looking a lot at my trees in my yard can you use the leaves and branches for greenery and bits in a floral arrangement?
Hi again! Yes, of course you can make use of lots of "found" materials in your yard. The "sticks" in this design were dried branches that were trimmed from arborvitae shrubs with the foliage removed. You'll have to experiment as some types won't last as long once cut as others do. But have fun with trying! Thanks again for watching! Cheers!
