We eat extra green chillies just for fun in most of households with the dishes full of spices with spicy pickle still having an green chilly as an extra salad just for fun crunching in between the bites. And thats just normal.

I am a Keralite who is so much used to spicy green chillies. I live in Mexico city now and cannot handle some of their chillies.Its way too spicy than anything I ever had. Seems like chillies came to India from Mexico long back.Mexicans can handle quite spicy food.
