Heavy Rain & Muddy Trails in Arkansas: Overlanding After Months of Drought!
After months of drought here in Arkansas, the rain finally returned-and it came down hard! In this video, we kick off an epic weekend camping with new friends, Eric and Misty. We set out on a Saturday evening for some trail riding, ready to take advantage of the fresh weather change. Our adventure took us to the iconic Oark General Store, where we met up with Kayla and Joe, and that’s when the real fun began!
As the heavy storm rolled in, trails became muddy, conditions worsened, and we were forced to reroute on the fly. With intense rainfall, thick mud, and deteriorating trail conditions, we faced some real challenges and excitement along the way. But as the weather escalated into severe ...

@@bigrockoverland Just placed the order of heater with your link and code. Awesome price. Thanks.
@@jackychu0830 Awesome! This is a great heater, I hope you will love it as much as we did!
Good stuff! Wolf ridge has been on my list but definitely need a trail buddy for that one with that big rock switch back. Idk how I would feel sending solo haha.
Right on! Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t advise doing it alone. It’s not for the faint of heart lol but it was super fun. We probably would’ve tried to push it quite a bit further but we were really worried about everyone getting through safely. I feel like we definitely need a little bit of a lift. If nothing else, we at least need some heavy duty springs to lift the truck back up all that weight has got sagging quite a bit plus letting aired out of the tires so we’re dropping quite a bit of clearance. We could definitely take you sometime!!
@ agreed safety is key, plus slick clay didn’t help with traction. I think a small lift and some mud tires will do your rig great for that type of terrain. I still need to invest in front skid plates myself to protect the transmission and transfer case. Would be down to do some trail runs with you guys, still lots to explore out there!
There is so much to see! Yes we def need a good set of MTs that’s a big reason why we keep getting stuck. The AT3s are great but not so good for what we do. Too much mud out there not to have them. But it cost $$$ we don’t have 🤷🏻♂️ hopefully we can get them soon
@ overland/offroad gear is expensive in general. I’ve definitely been irresponsible with my build at times and learned the hard way with my CC interest lol. It all comes together in due time. But looking forward to linking up and exploring with yall sometime soon. I’ll definitely need a diesel heater to keep getting out this winter.
We have needed this rain. So glad to be wheeling in the ozarks again with water flowing
Oh i know! It's been so dry. We just didn't need all the rain all at once haha. but this trip was super fun! The NEXT one was...a doozy lol we'll just say that.
I was just up there the other day. When it was flooding. Neat place.
i bet it would be in the rain! The view there is amazing. Can't wait to go back sometime!
What trail/ road was the one you had to turn around on ?
it was called "Wolf Ridge" on the OnX off road app.
How do you tell me if something was worth it. When it was free.. seems like good free gear ..yeah I bet so...
Based on the price point, this awning is 100% worth it. It covers a huge area, we just used it last night and it was 30mph winds, i put the poles down, and it stayed perfectly in place with no issues. Then you have a ton of other added features that are great as well. this awning is normally almost $800. its on black friday sale for $499, and with our code "BRO" you'll get an extra $50 off. which puts it at $450. I don't care who you are, that's a great deal right there!
Nice video I did that same trail in a Ford f250 trimmer stock twice this past year beautiful country. Great camping. Enjoy your overlanding be safe. As I like to say let's get busy
We watched the solar eclipse sitting in the river on top of the waterfalls excellent viewing
Very cool!
That being freestanding and so easily deployed or stored is a game changer. I hope to get me one soon
It takes like 30sec or less, really nice when you get in after dark. Air quick set up! We use it every trip. Heck I use it for lunch time at work to!! 😂
Fun stuff! Thanks for taking us on a ride!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching! I appreciate your comment!! we love, creating content like this and hope to be able to afford to do it full-time someday! What a time to be alive!!!
This was an awesome trip thanks for taking me long
Our pleasure!
Fun trip, good editing. 👍
I'll be honest this one weirdly took a lot more editing than normal. We had an audio problem and almost half of our footage actually had no audio at all. I went to go back through and tidy up some of the ends of it but I did it so well the first time I forgot what parts were fake and which parts were real LOL. audio wise. It was an amazing trip!
This video came together really nice. Keep up the amazing work.
Thanks brother! Like I said, we need to get you out for a full trip! Great time guaranteed! Standby for the next episode 👀 it was my fav one so far!
Dude great video! Just started watching your channel and it looks like we know a bunch of the same people. Love it.
haha, indeed we do! Thanks for stopping by. Welcome!
Thats a solid awning build. Would be cool to see those walls in the future. 🎉 9:24 .
Wouldn’t it though! Would be the PERFECT upgrade to the 270 awning!!
Does anyone know what type of cord I need to buy to plug into the Anderson plug on the bottom of the tent to power the usb outlet panel? I have a power bank that I want to plug it into but can’t find the cord that I need.
This small cat does not have a USB outlet on the bottom of it. There are no outlets at all only the LED light strip. If you watched my video all the way through you would have noticed there was no plugged on the bottom. That is a different tent. Another Anderson plug is what we need. You can wire them to battery leads. We use an external battery in my truck bed at this time since my syrup has progressed quite a bit since this video was put out. We have an energy connection on my battery box and we put Anderson connections on all of our equipment like my refrigerator my diesel heater and stuff like that. The Anderson connections are two way connections meeting is the same plug for both ends they fit together.
Is the heater working with the power station? The cigarrette port output is 12v 10a (120W) and the heater needs 12v 15A
With this particular unit, it worked initially but started having issues and then after I checked it, it was in fact, a 10 amp barrel plug since then what I’ve done is I’ve actually cut the ends off and wired up in Anderson connection and now I run the Anderson connection on my smart battery box in my auxiliary power set up in the truck bed. Yes, you are correct. If you wanna run this on some sort of a power bank you need to have at least a 15 amp plug for it to work correctly! We like the Anderson connections because they’re easily more a plug-in place situation and it feels more secure plus it freeze up my barrel plug on my battery box for other things. Something definitely worth considering if you don’t have one already.
That awning is pretty slick.👍 I am headed to Camden area next week to do some deer hunting.👍 I plan on rambling through the Ouachita's and Ozark's on my way back to Missouri.👊 Probably hit some waterfalls along the way.😁
Sounds like a great time there should definitely be some waterfalls out! Plenty out there to see if you need any advice let us know! Also feel free to share what you find. We love seeing the places people go!
Good video. I'd like to join you sometime.
welcome to come along some time! We coordinate through facebook and post rides there as well.
Great video and content! I agree the Ouachita’s are awesome. We rode several trails in the area this summer. That campsite was occupied by a men’s group and we didn’t want to intrude. We will definitely go back to enjoy the overlook. Thanks for sharing!
It gets a little wendy up on top. esp if its raiding. but it's also something i'm glad that i got to experience. i've camped there in a thunderstorm and it was AMAZING. though, i wouldn't recommend lol
Did y;all happen to map your trip?
No, we have already been to these places so we didn't track the route for this trip specifically. It was a pretty easy trip and was easy to navigate.
What was your power bank called in the video that you ran the heater off of
Bluetti EB55 i believe it was called. bought with my own money, and I love it! it was quite a lot more when i bought it sadly and since then they have discontinued it i believe as well. how ever here is the link www.bluettipower.com/products/ac50b They make a ton of other ones that are amazing and well worth the price!
@@bigrockoverland thank you for the info much appreciated I’m excited to get camping with out freezing thank you

Great video I'm very interested in that light set up for my rig. I may need some help installing it lol.
You can do it! It was super straightforward and easy to install! And you can hook up more than just lights to it, its an amazing little switch panel!
Very nice! That will be a upgrade to the Obnoxious Adventures Astro van one day.
That would be cool! You can do all kinds of thing with this! And being able to swap out the fuses to match what ever your need is, pretty neat! And it looks pretty good too 👀
I just found this channel, but my wife and I went overlanding for the first time this week and went through car wash falls. It was during a drought when we went, so no falls. We didn’t pick the same spot to camp as you guys, but we liked it. Quite bumpy and slow moving in my old diesel F250, but that’s what I have to work with. Hahaha.
That is awesome! Doesn’t matter what you got as long as you get out and have fun and be safe. Yeah we just got a ton of rain actually last night and the whole area that was once bone dry is now too deep to even drive through in some spots pretty crazy over 10 inches of rain.
Sweet trip guys! Looks like a great place to “get lost” (on purpose)!!!
It really is! This is our kids fav spot! For his birthday last year (Robert) want me to take him there to camp and it was in the middle of a rain storm. Talk about an experience lol
Great video, looks like a blast👍
It was!!
Great video Guy!! Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks for watching!
Y'all are bringing back some memories,🫡 I lived in Hot Springs and the Village from 2000 to 2010 and spent a lot of time in the Ouachita's. Almost every weekend I was in the Ouchita's somewhere South of I40 and, North & West of I30.👊 Albert Pike area and Little Missouri Falls is the Gem of the Ouachita's for me.🫡 I love that area and could spend days there, I never got tired of going. It is a shame about the Albert Pike rec area camping, it was some of the best.👍 I am supposed to be near Camden next week and I plan on hitting the Ouchita's on my way back to Missouri.😁
That would be awesome! We made it near there in one of our first videos. Didn’t make it to little mo falls sadly. But we have a trip planned to go back there already!
15:54 that’s a killer spot! Great video y’all.
So many great places!! Thanks for the kind words! Be are out there!
1:30 the H3T was a pretty underrated platform for its time! There’s a dude on IG who custom did a “regular cab” version and it’s pretty rad!
Rain coming. Looks like it will hold off until Sunday. Badly needed.
yea no joke! we need it!! I'll be out in it none the less. rain or shine. hoping for a fun weekend and lots of mud!
Awesome video you guys I’m looking forward to this weekend out with you guys . 😊
Can't wait!
Heater won’t power on any idea why?
not sure, ours came right on no problem at all. If no lights are coming on at all it sounds like its not getting any power. check your cables. or if its on but how start heating maybe try the key remote that comes with it, or the app.
Probably a better question for the manufacturer
It’s working now had the polarity reversed on the cigarette plug wiring.
@@HM-vu9zw haha, oh no!! I've done stuff like that before. Glad you got it figured out! How's it work now?! We don't typically even leave the green section on the heater when we use it. but it hasn't gotten cold enough here in Arkansas yet to really need its full strength. These things are awesome!
Sounds pretty awsome
It is! We love this little thing. Keep everything nice and cold, and it don't drain my battery.
What app are you running i cant get mine to find my heater also do you have a link to the outlet hose you use
The app you can find inside of the user manual that comes in the box with the heater. on ISO for me, the app is called AirHeaterBLE. We got a 3in dryer hose. can use any. here is the one we used, its a very tight fight but it will fit. and we also got some hose clamps. Thanks for the Jasper Jeep Jam and Overlanding shoutout!!! It was great to finally meet both of you and we look forward to seeing y’all at a campsite soon!!!
Our pleasure! We are looking forward to Jasper JEEP jam so much! We were hoping you guys were going to do like a creator spotlight or something like that that we could get involved in. If you need some ideas or already have something in place let us know we’d be interested!
Shady Lake and Little Missouri Falls are in th Ouachitas
Yes, they are near the Wolf Pen Gap area. We ran that whole area, it’s beautiful!
@0:15. My boy will find it funny he’s in your video. lol. Great video by the way. Every one looks at my suburban weird in the woods I bet that Astro really gets the looks.
Haha, yes! Even when we were out and passing people you could see them all looking at it trying to figure it out what they were looking at. That thing can wheel though! I was pretty impressed! Funny that its your little one! xD he prob won't even remember riding by us haha!
Once i get a skid plate for the oil pan I will be a bit more confident

Glad you liked it!! 🤙🏼 drone flying is what started all of this in the first place. One of my fav things to do! I loveeee my FPV drones 👀
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching! Also, don't run the exhaust the same way i did. run it horizontal or slightly downward
Been checking these out thanks for the video. I have a jeep gladiator can you share what bed rack that is? How do you know what bed rack works with a rtt?
Most of them are made for a RTT just check the weight they will hold, some of these tents are quite heavy. This one only weighs about 200lb. The rack we use is the GO Rhino Overland Rack, I love the looks of it, but i would get something else. possibly the Xtrusion Rack but there are tons of options depending on how much you wanna spend. Just Empty Every Pocket, Jeep.
Can it be a side entry instead of the rear entry?
Yep! Currently bc of our 270 awning we have to use the passenger side mounting. Works just fine!
I really enjoyed this video!! Thanks for sharing!!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for the comment and kind words!
