The Joy of Treasure Hunting
Добавлен 23 янв 2024
Here we will discover the joy of hunting for treasures! Some days we may be hunting for gold with a metal detector, others hunting for treasures at estate sales, other days we may be hunting for crystals or fossilized treasures, you never know! As a geologist and 30+year treasure seeker, I will create content that is not only entertaining, but educational and a little different in focus. The Bible teaches us that where your heart is...there your treasure will be also. What's in your heart to seek out today? Come along with me and let's dig into it together!

Great video Les! Love the content. You just gained another subscriber bro! 👊
Thanks Robert! Keep pushing toward your goals man.
@@JoyofTreasureHunting you know I will! 💪👊
Looks like a good place to drop a few late ‘60s coins for someone else to enjoy in 20 years.
Good idea, kinda like giving back...
You inspired me to go hunt!
haha, thanks! it sure can be fun...now we just have to find that 1st elusive arrowhead
That was a fun little trio! I Think you could be right about that being a grinding stone. Good finds!
Thanks, I'm gonna say so till proven otherwise!
Nokta took your advice in the Score series, not only "painting" the buttons, but backlighting them, as well.
How does this effect backlighting?
Thank you so much, that was an excellent explanation of something I had had a real problem with, I believe I can tackle it now. I'm 80 years old and not much of a tech y. You really helped me!
you're very welcome Frank, and happy hunting!
Great information, especially for a "new to detecting" guy like me. I have the Legend, it's my first detector, but I am still a bit confused. Do you also dig on a tone but no "treasure" bar or only when it moves towards the "Ring" on the display? Any help on this would be wonderful.
this is a hard one as some say dig everything, esp as you are learning, and some say don't waste time on potential junk. I'm in the dig everything camp as you will find really weird and interesting things that way, and you will dig a fair bit of junk, but you will learn an area and the reaction of your machine to a lot of that junk
@@JoyofTreasureHunting Thank you for the information, it's wonderful that you and others share your knowledge and experiences.
I gained so much knowledge from this video, thank you.
You're so welcome Kevin, and thanks for the feedback!
I love your videos and I love my Legend. I have found some jewelry in the 30's. I hunt mostly tot lots and volleyball courts. I also like to hunt in 20 and 40 khtz
I've been meaning to find some volleyball courts, maybe even go after dark and feel all stealthy about it...haha
This looks just like my hunts.... minus the ring... lol!
Here's to better ones for us all! I'm going to try some lake water hunts next with this heat
bottle caps will go away at 5 to 7 but u might miss small targets
Good tip! I am always nervous about too much discrimination for this sort of reason
I try to avoid those numbers if I am at the parks. I'll take the chance and pass unless the tone is good, clear and the VDI's are close to each other. M3 better VDI numbers and my BC is at 5, SE 4 and IF 4. Have to remember that fake jewelry will ring in the 30's to me plus I'll switch to Beach setting to see if it has good tone. The 30's Tone Frequency on my Legend is low (1-30) 15 and also lower my tone volume as well. Once you have that prime setting, I save it on one of the profiles. I have a Pitch, 4 tone, 6 tone profiles and also Coin Shooter setting with nothing but 42 and above. Good intel video on the Legend, becomes Bad to the Bad once you learn it!!
wow, that's good stuff there. Thanks for sharing
@JoyofTreasureHunting You are very welcome. Go watch Iffy Signals videos he has very good Legend video tips and info. Happy Hunting and Good Luck!
awesome video. Keep up the good work
Thanks! Will do. and happy hunting!
A bobina é muito grande pra ela
OK, just finished the video... unbelievable! That's amazing! Congrats on once in 100 lifetimes find!
I know right! thanks! Now back to zinc pennies in trashy parks...haha
@@JoyofTreasureHunting It would be funnier if it weren't true lol
That looks AWESOME. An old-europe vacation is high up on my list.
It was really cool from a history standpoint, but I must say the food here is much better.
I really like that you take time to respond to each comment. Thank you! Because of that and the very clear videos on the Legend I subbed and glad to find help setting up my new Legend.
Its the least I can do for all you great people who take the time to watch what I make!
Excellent video!
Thanks! Any ideas for other videos that could be helpful?
Does the accupoint vibrate in different pulses for ferrous and nonferrous???I don’t like using audio. 😃
Where in Oklahoma are you from??? I am a fellow detectorist from El Reno , but live in Edmond now. 😃
I'm in Tulsa.
Don’t even use the word BIG Shovel in Detecting Vocabulary. it will get you a NO try to get permission. (Recovery Tool that makes very good plugs). 😃
New subscriber, taking my legend to an early 1900s school house soon in NW Oklahoma. These parks out here have so much can slaw from mowing🙄
Agree, I need to find a few new spots as well. Let me know how it goes!
@@JoyofTreasureHunting what part of Oklahoma are you friend? We are in Waynoka
@@andyamysarizonaadventures5450 I'm in Tulsa!
What makes you say the foil is from a roof? I found those a couple times in an area I know had several houses until the 50s along with a old shot gun shell piece n nr much else old
YOU WILL BE SURPRISED
YOU NEED TO START DIGGING IN SOCCER FIELDS IF YOU ARE GOING TO DIG ALL 30S
Check out the supermodel training video I did. It is in soccer fields, and the field master was nearby all the time watching...haha
The Legend is a beast of a detector. Good video Man.. Happy Hunting . Peace
Congrats on your first Silver Ring Score ..you are getting this Legend set up very nicely. Happy Hunting. Peace
Thanks! It's been a fun machine to learn, and I think things will get even better.
Will give this a try tomorrow 😊
Happy hunting my friend! Hope you find a ton of silvers.
Im getting my Legion on Friday. Excited
I'll bet you really enjoy it, easy to get started with and plenty of high end features to tinker with as you get more knowledgeable about them.
@@JoyofTreasureHunting I hope so. My brother has some property where there was an old (maybe 30's) that burned down and it full of nails ets. I'm hoping that this will help me filter through all the trash and find something. My Sister-in-law lost a few rings that I'm also trying to find around the same area. I'm hoping THE LEGEND will do the trick.
Eggs, a little flour & cook in butter yummy 😋
Squat down and scan across the ground, I've seen people crawl or just sit a spell, and take your time, like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Good ideas
I went out about a week ago and fount 24 my first time ever finding any and I never ate any before neither so someone told me how to fix them I washed them off real good cut them in half and let them soak in salt water for a hour thin washed them off again and covered the bottom of skillet with oil and took my mushrooms and rolled them in floor thin dipped them in egg thin floor again and fried them golden brown and they was the best things I've ever eaten before in my life I can't wait to find some more
Agree. They are sooo delicious
Butter 😊
N.E. Arkansas has been dry. I could only find 20.
You got me beat! Keep searching and I will too.
I'm headed out for my first look see this week!
Let us know how it goes. Pay special attn under those cedars!
@@JoyofTreasureHunting had the best day I've had in a few years. 44 morels.
@@OffTrailTreasures 😮 that's amazing man, congratulations and can they be frozen or anything to keep them longer? Because that's too many to eat at one sitting I'm thinking!
@@JoyofTreasureHunting they actually do a decent (not perfect) job of rehydrating. So when I have leftovers I dehydrated for later. But this time I went over to my brother's and shared so there's not that many left. Will eat the rest today...
100% reins guide.
I luv watching MD vids to get me psyched up for the next hunt! Thank you! What mic is that you're using please?
I have the hollyland lark setup. Works very well so far
@@JoyofTreasureHunting Thanks you kindly . mill check em out
This is a great detector does all the more expensive detectors do manticore or deus 2
Like this. What cover are you using on it?
It's actually an Amazon piece for the simplex I got accidentally, but with a slit up the back it works on the legend
Ha! If you live near this... I'm right down that big hill to the east of you. I'd love to do a little detecting together if you're interested. My detecting buddy passed a couple years ago. Fellow Legend swinger too. I have it and an AT Pro.
Let's go!
@@JoyofTreasureHunting sent you an email.
Wait, you're in Oklahoma?? I'm in the Tulsa area and always looking for a partner to hunt with if you're interested. Fellow Legend user as well.
If something it round the ring side shows up? Is that in the manual? If that's a thing, it's cool I never used it like that. I just thought it meant opposite to iron.
No, the right/ring side indicates conductivity, the left side indicates ferrous.
Hey hey guyz! It's so nice to see other couples detecting, just as we do.. SO cute! Nokta Legend is cool machine.. we hope you will hae a great finds in a future! Big hello from metaldetecting couple from southern Europe, your new supporters and ffriends! Hapy hunting guyz!
I was thinking about getting the Accupoint pinpointer but was seeing a lot of problems with it, do you recommend it ? or are there any other bluetooth pinpointers that will work with the Legend and wireless headphones?
I've been happy with my accupoint so far. I'm not familiar with which others may work with the headphones sorry. Anyone else out there know?
How do you know that the items are shallow vs deep? My first time treasure hunting with the Legend I had a consistent 35 VDI and after digging 12-16” I couldn’t find it. I know it was still there because I am still getting the same reading, but I dug so much I reached the water barrier. I just gave up and put all the dirt back.
The bars to the right of the big numbers in the middle are supposed to give a feel for how deep the item is. More bars means more depth, but they base this off of a coin size object. So if there is one bar on that scale and it's a coin it will be near surface, but if all bars are lit up and it's a coin size object it's supposed to be deep. The bigger the object is than a coin, the more bars it seems to fill so it's not a great indicator in all cases. The detector is good, but not really picking up stuff deeper than about 12 inches from surface (unless it's like a buried car), so once you dig a hole under where you got the signal, use a pinpointer to then find the item and that will keep you from digging to china. Been there.
Thank you! This was helpful
I have been using Legend at several beaches. In my opinion, the best setting is gold field mode, 40hz, dig everything. 👌
Good to know! I'll try that, and I can't wait to get some beach hunting opportunities!
What software version is on the detector, older versions have problem detecting coins near iron.Make some tests with rings also !!!
I'm running the latest version 1.13. And I'll do some testing and let's all see!
Appreciate your video's, love your idea on painting the buttons, im new the the Legend and love it! Thank you for the informative video's 🎉
You're welcome, and thanks for watching, more to come! Find anything you're proud of yet?
@@JoyofTreasureHunting Yes, gold rings, 1969 14kt high school ring, I tracked down the owner and returned it, detecting for 15 years now.
I bought my Legend pro pack a couple of years ago. I did the same thing to the touchpad. Went to Walmart and bought a similar fine tip white paint pen and it worked great. Every once in a while, I’ll repaint them when they start to fade a little. I don’t know why they didn’t come painted already.
Agreed, it seems so obvious once it's done they should have done it originally, but glad you enjoyed the video and hope you're still into the hobby!
@@JoyofTreasureHunting Oh Yeah. Still going strong. Been at it for 15 years. I’ve been water hunting my local bay beaches, finding some really nice silver and gold rings and chains. When the weather’s right, I’m dirt fishin’ some old parks and vacant lots. Not giving up this great hobby. _/ 👍🏻
Can I help you with something? Come on. Those are some of Karen’s opening lines of confrontations. This is why my buddy and I wear our high visibility construction vests. Karen’s think we work for the City or doing surveys of the property. 😂 Great video.
