Bean Goes Zoom
Добавлен 13 окт 2007
My name's Ben, welcome to my channel. I'm the owner of a 2015 RC F and a 2001 4Runner. I will be posting videos mostly about wrenching or driving them, and sometimes unrelated stuff I find interesting that I happen to point the camera at.

A cobbled together look at what it takes to replace a cracked fill check valve out in the driveway. Codes P0440 and P0442 with a gas smell coming from under the car are a sign that the valve may be damaged.
15’ Lexus RC F two year ownership review, buyers guide and ramblings

I welcome you to my first RUclips video, featuring an endless stream of somewhat put together thoughts and comments on the Lexus RC F.
My 99 sr5 4x does not have this component, 01 02 only I believe guys.
The small jack stands aren't a stupid idea if they give you peace of mind and are not in the way!
I’m in the same boat! I saw what Jeremy clarkson said and completely forgot about it! Then I started getting into the ISFs which lead me into looking and getting into an RCF.
I think you did a good job coving the little problem spots that you’ve experienced or have heard about. Other videos just talk about how well it sounds and car specs. A one day or even a week test isn’t the same as owning one for a few years. Living with it as a DD is how you get to learn about what’s great and what could be improved. I test drove a LC500 but found it uninspiring to drive, it just didn’t excite me. Now it’s time to test the RCF and the IS500. I want to see how much of a difference the 4 door is to the RCF. A sporty sedan is fun and more practical, but if it feels too boaty compared to the RCF then the choice is easy.
first comment! you should contact lego to re-release their old sets 😜
I've owned my 2018 RCF since new. I don't think I'll ever sell it. Only issue it's ever had was a faulty throttle body which unfortunately left me stranded in limp mode a couple of times. Other than that, it's been rock solid. 6 years of use, no rattles or any signs of wear & tear mechanically or in the interior.
Bro, fellow Amtrak engineer on the NEC looking at reviews for this car. Also had a es300 as my first whip. What are the odds lol
Small world! You will enjoy the car if you get one. It's still a lot of bang for the buck.
Beautiful car and a good review. I got an IS 500 it's a great car but Lexus dropped ball on how they build cars, they just put the 8Spd Aisin, 2UR-GSE V8 and the RC F exhausts and GS F front end subframe to make the suspension handle the V8 that's it. They did not go much more like chassis stability and rigidity they should have made an ISF but did not. When I recently test drove an RC F 2018, I realized how much planted the RC F feels like, its way superior to IS 500, the press journos really hated this car only Savageeese and a few others love it. And also IS 500 has a bumper sag which Lexus did not even address, or they care anymore (issued a garbage TSB). Even the 2023 RC F got some downgrades - no memory seat, no engine brace, no TVD, dash changed to IS, they are now only keeping for RC F homologation until 2025 being last MY for this legendary car. I feel the TVD is a real nice addition to the car, saw 2 failures of TVD on GS F but none on RC F so far. I'm really stoked to get an older RC F as it's one of a kind special car and the best part is RC F GT3 class it wins many races on this base fundamental design.
Great video and very helpful review. I've been looking at used models. You had some great tips; most of the reviews do not mention some of the problems that could be encountered and be costly. Some of the used models at the dealerships that I see on line have unusually low mileage. This sorta makes me wary. Thanks for your review.
I would not be wary of very low mileage! This car is still overall cheaper to maintain than any Euro equivalent. Personally, I would love to have one with very low miles again, as I'm just about to cross 60k. But that's just getting started really with a lexus
I literally watched hundreds of videos on the rc f this is first video mentioning the f light on door like Batman I love it found mine accidentally after purchase
I got my rc f in December and I adore that car death do us part gorgeous n fun my dream car in many ways love that it’s part gs part is when I was young the is wasn’t even in usa yet I wanted the blue back then as well I always loved Toyota owned an es a gs still have ls 460 and my rc f silver black carbon hood spoiler worked red interior straight beast
Will Bean ever apologize for the atrocities that he's committed? Also great video man
Thank you my stalwart gentleman
Hey mate, I’m from Melbourne, Australia. I bought my RCF yesterday and can’t thank you enough for convincing me to buy it. Such an honest video. Loving the car. Dreamt of it since 2014. Finally, it’s in the garage now.
It’s awesome to hear I’ve made an impact on someone on the other side of the globe! I’m glad you fulfilled your goal just like I did with mine. I still love it almost 5 years later.
@@Beangoeszoomany other problems or has it been reliable ?
@@Beangoeszoomand I thought the hpfp was covered by Lexus because of the recall
How’s the owner experience going so far ? Melbourne
@@jamesrebbechi5247 Pretty Amazing mate. Loving it more and more. Just did a basic service with diff oil change from lexus. I might do a trans oil & TVD service soon. Still on 91k kms. Probably before 105K kms which is the next service. Just taking care of it. That’s all. No issues.
The frame of the 4runner not being rusted is a turn on....
Hi, thanks for sharing your experience, really helpfull! I’ve question: do you still drive this RCF? And if so, what’s current mileage?
I do! Definitely not as much, I got another car to use in bad weather and commuting. It’s a lot more special to take it out on a nice day or date night only. It’s just about to 60k miles. No issues still beyond what I mentioned in the video
nice 4runner
Tha6s sick. U earned a sub
good to see the acrobat plane on the short runway
they keep coming up 😊 superb!
i wish i was there! oh wait..... 😎
I wish you would have shown how you removed the skid plate under the gas tank. I am fighting with that now.
I want to get one of these, but insurance stops me lol
I’ve been trying to clear a p0440 code on my 02 Highlander (Purge Valve, gas cap etc.). No luck though so I’m guessing it’s the same issue (leak). The SUV runs absolutely fine though. This seems a hell of a lot of work and hassle to clear the code for a non-mechanic.
For those of us who need to pass emissions or hate having a CEL, it is a must
@@Beangoeszoom👍 CEL is definitely annoying but fortunately my state doesn’t require emissions testing. Nice job on the repair btw.
Man I miss my 2000 4Runner.
I love the RCF !! The one thing that drives me crazy about these Lexus' (IS, RC's or even LC) is the blank buttons where those washer sprayer, or HUD goes ... even on the brand new one - if i'm paying $80k ... i do NOT wanna see blank buttons anywhere :o)
Great video man !!
Good review mate, I'm seriously considering a used one ,perhaps a 2017 model. Just need to sell my GR Yaris and raid the piggy bank.
Nice explanation but change the title to 2001-2002 4runner, this doesn't apply to 96-00 models, they have a slightly different fuel tank with a different setup.
Any videos with you driving with this set up on the road?
I’m looking at purchasing a 2015 similar specs…2 owners, 15200 miles. Selling Sept 23 for 51K 😮😮
Unusually low mileage for an 8 year old car. Was it OK?
V8!
You have a Mark savage geese quality to your taking style but not as depressing as Mark can get LOL
I'm honored lol
I have a 4runner 2000 4x4 limited,is all the 96'-2002 the same parts?
No, gas tank parts are not the same on the whole 3rd generation year range. The older 3rd gens have a simpler design, years 96-00, and different fuel tank parts. This guy has a 2001, and 01-02 cars have a fuel tank that looks like his, with more evap bullshit.
awesome, thank you for the update info on models that have the check valve on some vehicles........@@danelio
Does your adaptive cruise have stop and go functionality?
I don't believe so, but Ive also never tried!
It doesn’t, it’ll brake for you until like 15 mph or something like that and it’ll beep at you to manually brake, I’ve tested it
You have to always run Super Plus Unleaded. The less ethanol, the better
"Realistic Dream Cars".... could be an awesome channel theme/focus. Vids that focus on the flagship/high performance cars are fun and informative. But, I agree, they don't contribute to a realistic and sustainable budget in the long term. I would love to see more reviews like this with other cool cars if you can find the access!
I'm currently looking at an RCF 92k miles for basically 40k out the door. My biggest concern is the miles plus price. I'm not trying to spend that on a car that's going to die 50k miles later. Can I depend on this lexus sports car the way we could like the SC300? We beat the shot out of those and still got 200k plus with minimal cost.
If the maintenance history is good (mainly oil changes on time) RCF should last way long than 140k miles. These engines are very reliable

I approve this message.
Good video 👍🏽
Make more videos. Ur putting that thing to waste
monster sound when open :D
My current car is 2017 GSF. In 2019 I rented a 2018 M4 competition and a 2018 MX-5 for a day respectively. When I drove that MX-5 on a mountain road, I immediately felt it had much more body rolls at the FIRST corner!!! My wife and I drove that M4. M4 was as tight as GSF but we both preferred GSF. PS: I also calculated the ride frequencies roughly for M4 and GSF/RCF. I believe their ride frequencies should be about the same. I also put a FIGS Ohlins DFV on my current GSF and believe my current GSF's ride frequency could be as high as 911 GT3's!!!😉(I'm almost 60 and my wife is well over 50 but we both think the ride of my current GSF is acceptable even for long trips!!!)
Love this review I just bought me a 2023 IS 500 F sport Premium and I absolutely love it. 🖕the critics Lexus is where it’s at total class act❤
I just bought a ‘15 RC350 Awd f sport and though i love the looks inside and our, the “performance” is trash I’ll admit. I’ve seen a few rcf videos lately that make me want to possibly buy as my next car. Yours looks beautiful. Love that blue! Also i have the same R7 and BlendMount you’re using hahah small world. 💪🏾🫡
Great video And u got a damn good deal on that car at time of purchase. Nice
Did you keep the exhaust stock?
No mention of the useless back seat?! Good video but ya, a little slow. I have a solar fire coloured 2015 RC F loaded, not track pkg, with 52,000 km w/o mods. I love it and would buy again. I track raced it and it’s been awesome. I could race all day and have no issues. Lexus dependability :))
I got my RCF about 3 months ago and this video was one of the main reasons that confirmed my decision. I'm so happy we didn't listen to Jeremy Clarkson
mileage and how much?
@@TrayJayRecords 43k miles. $39k
@@slappagon dude that’s a smoking deal. In FL with that mileage they’re going for 45
@@TrayJayRecords Patience is all I can say. I looked for over a year before I found it. It's a 2017 and the dealership discounted it because the previous owner installed a cat back exhaust which voided the warranty. Win win for me because the car sounds great!
@@slappagon wow im looking for a similar deal thats great
