    Can we talk about how Faith was willing to sacrifice herself to save Angel? Her redemption arc may be not perfect, but I still really really love it. She is one of my favorite characters of all time!

    I think Orpheus was a great episode within the Angelus Saga during the show. Willow is now called upon to try and re-soul Angel. With Faith and Angelus somewhat comatose here, they share the same dreams similar to previous episodes of BTVS with Buffy and Angel. The Cordelia/Willow exchange is interesting as Cordelia knows of Willow's power and a great scene when the knife is thrown hitting the door. Super surreal dream scene in the Diner with Angelus/Faith and Angel back in the 1970s. Angel puts Mandy on the jukebox, a throwback to when he first sang in Lorne's club. A great scene when Willow is sent flying across the foyer by Cordelia but responds with powerful magic herself. Again terrific dream scene in the alleyway ( this show loves alleyways ) where we see Angelus and Faith see Angel scavenging for rats. Willow's power eventually breaks the glass, and we revert again to the alleyway scene. Cordelia is able to manipulate Connor as we tend to forget he is still very young, and not as experienced as Cordelia, so is easily led by a kind of blind teenage love crush which she is able to use against him. The real battle of course is in the subconscious mind of Angelus and Faith where Angel is begging Faith to wake up. The awakening scene is brilliant, we know Cordelia told Connor to kill Angelus, who we now know has been restored to Angel. Faith grabbing the stake as Connor is about to kill Angel and whooping Connor's butt, is one of the most satisfying scenes ever. Some light relief and the end where everyone is saying goodbyes, but then we see Cordelia come down the stairs showing her pregnancy bump. All in all a brilliant episode with complex plot and writing reaching new levels.

    It’s a shame that, instead of just repeating the original curse, Willow didn’t _amend_ it to make Angel’s soul permanent. I mean, she’s so powerful her thoughts alone can alter reality. She’s certainly more than capable of such a feat.

    Willow is the only character on Buffy that consistently treated Angel human, Buffy, once she knew naturally had to see him as both Angel & Angelus and studying Angelus' history. It always bugged me that Angel's history couldn't be studied, but of course the writers hadn't worked it out either. Faith, I always stand by my feelings that Faith & Angel had on of the best connections in the Buffyverse. I mentioned this previously but when Angel was human he had a younger sister who even Liam, with all his young & reckless ways, seemed to love. While Angelus' birth led to the torture of Angel's father, his sister & Mom was killed instantly in the hallway of their home. Faith, to me at least, seemed to connect with that part of Angel. The big brother who made the mistakes & won't give up in trying to pull you back from falling as far. Now, that's just my feelings on those characters, I know most people feel differently, but I think we can all agree that Faith would fit on the show Angel a lot better than on Buffy.

    I think they all assumed that Cordy was changed by being a "higher power" and that's why she doesn't always act like old Cordy.

    • @watershipdowneyjr
      @watershipdowneyjr 4 дня назад +1

      Not to mention, before she revealed herself to the audience by killing Lilah, Cordy hadn't acted all that different than usual. After getting her memories back, at least. Since then, she's been hiding in her room in the hotel, "healing" from her wound, pretty much only interacting with Connor who is totally lost in the sauce.

    Characters not noticing when their friends have changed is a frequent trope in the Buffyverse. Xander changes in "The Pack", Willow changes in "Dopplegangland", Buffy changes in "Who Are You", and each time it takes a considerable amount of time for anyone to realize something is wrong.

    Connor is being manipulated!
    Funny how the only people who can tell there is manipulation going on are those being manipulated.
    That's why I never understood the hate towards Connor. You're an 18 year old boy and a woman like Charisma plays you, you get played.

    • @theblizzard32
      @theblizzard32 4 дня назад

      I think a huge part of the hate comes from the character literally always being miserable and angsty towards everyone. He didn't have enough redeeming moments before this arc. And right when it seemed like he was getting better he got even worse in most fans eyes once he slept with Cordelia and led to where this arc inevitably does. it's a shame, I also feel for the actor as it seems like his role was seen as expendable once the on set power tripping Joss had on Charisma led to how this season was written. Makes me wonder what could have been for Connor. The character did deserve better imo.

    I love this episode. Willow and Wesley's conversation was great & his double take when Willow asked about Fred after their discussion about the darkness that they'd both been through was funny & better than Willow just outright saying that she was gay.
    Faith & Angelus' conversations were also great, but Angel's talk to her as he was fighting Angelus was even better. It's also fitting that the actress who played the flapper had her own redemption arc on Xena. Adrienne Wilkinson was a semi-regular on that show near the end of season 5 & into the final season of Xena.

      I always saw it as like, being on the Hellmouth and in the vicinity of the First with it's attention there made everything worse for her, maybe the bringers are doing rituals that are interfering with her abilities as well. Even if it can be everywhere, it can't instantly send a bunch of followers/minions over to LA to mess with her there.

    My second favorite episode of AtS, and my fourth favorite overall. I love this episode. The closest I come to not, is wishing Angel and Angelus would worry more about fighting each other due to Faith not being there, but since she is there, I can digress on tham not worrying about fighting each other, as they still do fight, just not they way I was hoping because Angel is worried about Faith.
    My favorite moment is the reactions of Angelus and Faith as Angel rescues a puppy.

    The ending of the previous episode is so good, it absolutely makes people think of the slayer/vampire thing that they've lightly toyed with over the series a bit and I think a lot of people would be curious to see actually happen but then the reveal that it's all part of the plan is just absolutely top drawer.
    The Wesley/Willow convo is fun as well, knowing they're married irl, can't remember if that was the case right at this point though.

    The falling asleep while doing something happened to me many times. I'd be doing something of watching something, and then it would be an hour or so later I would wake up. Your reaction to seeing Willow was great, almost as good as finding out that Faith was going to Sunnydale. I think the phrase "kid in a candy store" applies. Yes, Fred and Willow would make a cute couple, and like you, I would totally ship that, if Fred went that way.
