Like @Bryan Rudelich below, I've been seeing those upside down olla designs - this is so much better! I had already purchased the silicone for the other design, but now I don't need it; so glad I saw this before I went to all that trouble. Doing this TODAY - thank you so much. (See - wait two years, and eventually the algorithm will put your video in the top!)
I was going to do the same design - I keep seeing them with the hole on top with the saucer under the pot using silicone to glue them together and I'm why? This is far smarter. Plus you dont have to worry about freezing and they are easily removed. Brilliant olla
I think two pots were glued together, the ollas will be taller, the deep roots can drink water, and can help roots grow deeper. It will be good for trees. This will help vegs.
@@bweresquirrel8279 it is better to put some dry leaves all Over the soil. I think that but do you have more experience with rocks. What can you tell me?
@@melisarivera2581 That's because I live just over the mountain range from a desert: when the winds blow from that direction in summer we can get heat waves that go to 112 F/44 C with 12% humidity. Minimizing evaporation loss is absolutely critical for the local microclimate. Where you live that might not be as strong a consideration. All gardening advice is local.

Why did you cover the seeds with rocks? Should the top soil be moisting first then the seeds.. so they don't float away great job on the olla!!
The gravel mulch is to minimize evaporation. This is a particularly dry climate.
Yes they will
put the lid on backwards and no shifting around
May I ask where can I purchase the stopper plug and what size pot did you use
looks like she used a wine bottle stopper.
@@shawnmcpeak6184 ok thanks 👍🏾
thé size of the clay pot depends on the surface you need to water …you have tables on the internet .
What kind of stopper are you using?
Plastic wine bottle lid
Kunoichi Kirika thx
If you would have gotten your soil damp to start with, your seeds would not have floated around the pot,
What the ... why did she put all those rocks on top of the seeds . How are they gana germinate without sun.
Gravel mulches are used to retain water in the arid climate where I live. Garden seeds still germinate because it doesn't cover the soil completely.
