I have SEVERAL cat hairs in my ears and I had no idea until I bought one of those little scope cameras! There's probably at least three in each ear and one lying flat on my ear drum!
These videos are so informative, thanks. I have chronic ear infections and right now my ear is perforated. Love seeing how you and your patients interact.
best feeling in the world is the irrigation. After the last of the water from the irrigation drips out is the second best feeling. I may also be biased, having had hearing issues all my life this kind of thing is normal for me.
I enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing them with us. You have a really nice bedside manner. I wish I could go to a Dr like you. Have a blessed day. Be safe and well.
I had this happen once. I had this really full feeling in my ear and if I touched my ear or anywhere around it, it would make this weird whooshing sound. Drove me crazy for several days! Especially cuz i was driving cross country when it was happening. One day I was sick of it and went deeper than before with a qtip and out came a hair. I had gotten a haircut right before it started, damn was I glad it was such an easy fix!
Ear videos are great! I always love knowing what kind of elephants are stomping around in people's ears (my dad used to tell me I had elephants in my ears)
Such excellent work Dr. Vaughan! You're awesome! Really enjoyed this video. I love how you interact with your patients. You're so very personable, kind and gentle. I hope I'm lucky enough to marry a man like you someday! 😁👍
Okay, thank Dr. Vaughan. I'm very self-critical. I'm always thinking my grammar isn't good enough or I didn't word my comments properly. I'm glad I made myself clear. And I hope you didn't think I was flirting with you. I just think that you are an excellent doctor and a very good man who possesses all of the fine qualities that I would like in a husband. Your wife is very fortunate to be married to you and your children are incredibly lucky to have you as a father. 😀👼💞👍🌼✌🍀
Oooh, this happened to my brother once and he had issues for nearly a week before deciding going to the doctor's. They'd never had anything like that before, so apparently they got a few people in to watch how they had it taken out? It happened to me a few months after, and it really really is irritating and painful to an extent.
So it was a loose hair and not one growing in the ear? I had a doctor use a Waterpik to irrigate my ear one time. It got the monster ear wax ball out, but my ear rang for a week afterwards. Great video!
Looked like the hair was still there after the second irrigation. Right at the bottom of the ear canal, laying at the base of the ear drum. But I guess it's just me. 😊
I can't help but think if you would've took a dry Q-tip and (with you having a camera you can see how safely you can go and wouldn't use it wrong) around the edges if it would've caught onto that hair and pulled it up.
Nice irrigator! For a minute I was afraid you were going to use an elephant bottle. I hate those things--they supposedly cause less discomfort than syringe-type irrigators, but they prolong the process and often aren't effective so you end up using a syringe anyway.
Is it normal for ciprofloxacin treatment to leave such a residue in ear? I recieved this Cipro drops with steroid for ear canal inflammation i have for ~2 month (had not visited ENT because of virus risk, only had tele advices/other antibiotic used without success) and i'm scared it will additionally clog my ear which is for all that time at least not clogged at the moment. Is this antibiotic clogging ear like that often? Thanks for nice videos.
I think sometimes I get a hair resting directly against my eardrum. If I physically push the ear around at its base, I'll hear a loud crinkling sound, like tissue paper, but higher pitched. I think that's the hair rubbing against the ear drum. It's a higher pitched and more dynamic sound than the "rumbling" sound of water in the ear. Sometimes I go in there with a Q-tip and I drag along the wall of the ear canal and I'll get a hair out and find some relief. But often my attempts are unsuccessful and the problem will persist for up to a week. Any tips?
Is it possible for the hair to perforate the eardrum? I have a hair in there and it will not come out. Every time I touch it, I can hear that weird sound in my eardrum and it’s painful.
Not so good sadly. I have to little red blood cells they say, I'm gonna take new tests on Monday. I might be needing some medicine or iv for that before my next chemo. My hair has totally fallen off besides from two places so we shaved it of there. So now I'm completely bald. :( thank God for my wigs! But what a small head I got! 😳 I hope everything is alright with you and the family. Hugs from me to all off you!
I recently visited my primary care physician regarding an ear infection. After flushing out my ear with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water, several strands of cut hair came out of my ear canal. WTF??? How does it get in there?
Omg I think I have another hair in my ear like I did once before. I have this problem where I let my hair grow a bit long on the sides and during my sleep one of the hairs must've shoved it's way into my ear. I ordered a kit like this off Amazon so Hopefully I can get it.
I'm on ciprodex ear drops now and can they make your ears have like an oder I was put on it for swimmers ear plus my ENT pulled a wade of hair out of my ear as well that caused the infection
I had a long hair down by my ear drum. Very irratating sound in ear fr weeks. Till i went to ent. Witch hazel with peroxide for two weeks return to ent. No more problems
So the hair in the outer part of the ear is necessary? I asked because I saw a video from Japan I believe and people were going to this shop where cleaning out your ears is a thing! Anyway they were cutting all those hairs away is that a good thing?
Plavix prevents platelets from sticking together, an early event in the complicated clotting process. This makes clots in the arteries less likely to occur. It has been found to decrease the incidence of a second stroke.
He listens to this man without interruptions. I like his chair side manner. Easy going. I like that in any doctor and dentist.
Your so professional but also kind and thoughtful to your patients...putting them all at ease... I love watching your videos!
Doc is such a nice guy, he puts you at ease. The best video was when his patient was Lu having his ears cleaned.
Thankfully most perforations heal without lasting effects.
best feeling in the world is the irrigation. After the last of the water from the irrigation drips out is the second best feeling. I may also be biased, having had hearing issues all my life this kind of thing is normal for me.
Thanks for giving the positive report on irrigation. Most viewers assume the worst.
I enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing them with us. You have a really nice bedside manner. I wish I could go to a Dr like you. Have a blessed day. Be safe and well.

+Teala Higgins thanks for sharing your experience.
Loving this doctor, he’s so pleasant! I hope I can find an ENT this nice.
Ear videos are great! I always love knowing what kind of elephants are stomping around in people's ears (my dad used to tell me I had elephants in my ears)
I've never heard that one. He was creative.
Isabelle Palazzolo
It's always a pleasure to see a good doctor at work. Your patients are very fortunate.:-))
Thanks, Jennifer.
I had never considered after a hair cut that a stray hair might get lodged way down in the ear. Makes sense. That had to be very irritating.
+Lindsay Antwine we once had a patient who presented with a chronic cough which did not resolve until the hair was removed.
Such excellent work Dr. Vaughan! You're awesome! Really enjoyed this video. I love how you interact with your patients. You're so very personable, kind and gentle. I hope I'm lucky enough to marry a man like you someday! 😁👍
I think I meant to say, "I love the WAY you interact with your patients.". Sorry about my that!
I took it to mean the same thing.
Okay, thank Dr. Vaughan. I'm very self-critical. I'm always thinking my grammar isn't good enough or I didn't word my comments properly. I'm glad I made myself clear. UGH! I mean, "Sorry about that!" I put the word "my" in there where it didn't belong! Sheesh! Is there no end to this madness! 😲
lol I can't stop. I forgot to put a question mark at the end of my last sentence in my most recent comment. I know, I'm annoying. 😁 Sorry.

You are soooooo good, and have great tools to get the job done.😍😍😍

I love the ear related videos!
+jellysofa good
Auburn Medical Group 6koo
This is the first time I've watched a video from Auburn Medical Group. That irrigator made me jump sky high! I felt bad for the guy!
Couldn't you just scrape it out or pull it out with rounded tweezers?
This was cool too watch. I have a dog hairs in my ears any tips
In the olden days, hair dressers placed cotton in the ears to avoid this situation
Looked like the hair was still there after the second irrigation. Right at the bottom of the ear canal, laying at the base of the ear drum. But I guess it's just me. 😊
My brother had an ant crawl in his ear and die. He said it was excruciating. Our ears are so sensitive.
Good day doc! I want to know what is the brand or thing that you use where you attach your phone and have a better view of the ear canal. thanks!
Ulysses Boco,
You can find it marketed for patients at www.cellscope.com/oto
You can find it marketed for physicians at www.cellscope.com/clinicians
Interesting and informative video. Thanks. Sorry your live chat wouldn't work last night. Have a great weekend.
Thanks. Hopefully the live feed will work next time.
I wasn't sure if you were going to get it out or not so great job thank you for another great video
I'm glad the irrigation finally moved it.

I can't help but think if you would've took a dry Q-tip and (with you having a camera you can see how safely you can go and wouldn't use it wrong) around the edges if it would've caught onto that hair and pulled it up.
No that would simply shove it farther in
Omg I want one of those things on my phone!!!
I think the price just went up to $300.
I have had itchy ears all of my life, ever since I was a kid
Me too, and I gotta use swabs even though not supposed to.
Me too. Once I stopped eating wheat and dairy it went away.
You forgot to show us the hair. I was wondering how long it was? I imagine that would feel uncomfortable.
I really wanted to find it, but I could not see where it went.
Auburn Medical Group. That's what I assumed had happened. 😁
Nice irrigator! For a minute I was afraid you were going to use an elephant bottle. I hate those things--they supposedly cause less discomfort than syringe-type irrigators, but they prolong the process and often aren't effective so you end up using a syringe anyway.
Would've been great to see what was in the irrigation solution.
I think just warm water and a small amt of hydrogen peroxide.
Only have seen one ear wax video that has done that.
Usually it's saline solution or hydrogen peroxide.

Hey, from Dothan, AL! I'm one of those weirdos watching you clean dirty ears and LOVIN IT! Hahaha
Is it possible for the hair to perforate the eardrum? I have a hair in there and it will not come out. Every time I touch it, I can hear that weird sound in my eardrum and it’s painful.
My wife can see our dog hair in my ear but I cannot get it out and it's driving me nuts!!!
Nicely done Doc!
Thanks, Petra. I hope you are feeling well today.
Not so good sadly. I have to little red blood cells they say, I'm gonna take new tests on Monday. I might be needing some medicine or iv for that before my next chemo. Do you also use the suction method. This has been the pattern I've seen with ENTs the last several visits - primarily for impacted cerumen, though.
I recently visited my primary care physician regarding an ear infection. After flushing out my ear with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water, several strands of cut hair came out of my ear canal. WTF??? How does it get in there?
Could a hair lile that cause or worsen tinnitus even if it's not touching the eardrum?
You're adorable, doc. Keep up the great work.

The irrigation system is really loud to be near the eardrum 😨😨
Love your videos keep them coming
+Ruthie Fasold thank you for the wonderful encouragement.
I'm on ciprodex ear drops now and can they make your ears have like an oder I was put on it for swimmers ear plus my ENT pulled a wade of hair out of my ear as well that caused the infection
Poor guy he's making faces lol From the noise lol.
Bet the patient would really be upset if the stream of water came out from the other ear!
Giggle Giggle
So where did the hair go?
I had a long hair down by my ear drum. Very irratating sound in ear fr weeks. Till i went to ent. Witch hazel with peroxide for two weeks return to ent. No more problems
Awesome job as always.
Why is that machine so loud? Not good to have loud noise in your ears. My Dr.'s is quiet.
The machine seems louder on the video because of the audio compressor I add in post-production. The stream of water is not that loud.
Good job, Dr. Vaughn! Have a good week-end. :)
+Lynn Barnes you, too
The patient such a baby ... Doctor absolutely great !
It looks like there is a huge blackhead on the right side
Whoever thought cell phones would assist doctors one day...
I would have thought a flush would have been easier and more effective but I love his bedside manoe
Never knew the dental waterpik was used in this manner.
How do u know u really got it out and just didn't move it around where u can't see? Is that a possibility?
If the symptoms are resolved, does it matter?
What was that thing pumpin water in one ear and straight out the other..didnt kno that was possible
Bring on the irrigation!!!!
Thanks Lejon Forrest
Saying Hi from Pinehurst,NC guess Bob is a golfer"his hat"!
I guess I need to up my game and see someone with his knowledge. I like him and I haven't even met him!!🎈
Aren't there ear irrigators that don't make noise like a dental drill?
Can you please advise where your ear I could purchase one of your cleaning kits? Thank you Susan
I'm having a hard time seeing where the hair is.
I think it was still there on the left
Love the video! 👍👍
You don't use the lighted "poker" anymore?
They all got used.
Where did the hair go?
Was that a tick?
Doc, where i can buy the tool you put on your phone?
Couldn't you have left the otoscope in while scraping to see. Like lightly in not stuffed with the scraper
That looks like a water flosser
Digging for gold! A good doctor is hard to find now days, most are only interested in money.
That irrigation was a hairy experience.
U would thínk the makers of that water pick, or whatever it's called, would of been able to make less noisy, don't you?
I suppose. I guess they have never bothered to address this because there is little competition in the market to push them to make it quieter.
Auburn Medical Group well Dr get right on that 😄
So the hair in the outer part of the ear is necessary? I asked because I saw a video from Japan I believe and people were going to this shop where cleaning out your ears is a thing! Anyway they were cutting all those hairs away is that a good thing?
Donna P no the hair helps bring the wax to the front of the ear so it can escape and doesn't clog up at the ear drum
My ear right now feels clogged this is why I’m here it’s so annoying. I’m hoping that it’s just wax or an hair and not anything crazy smh
Where’d the hair go?
Can you explain your logo Auburn Medical Group??
Got a bigger water tank for the WaterPik I see... great idea.
+Tasha Hargrove that is the original tank.
Wow, I'm real observant. I thought it was bigger somehow. Excuse me. I'm having blood sugar issues and not thinking clearly.
Had mini stroke Sunday was in hospital till Monday afternoon put on plavix can you tell me about this
Plavix prevents platelets from sticking together, an early event in the complicated clotting process. This makes clots in the arteries less likely to occur. It has been found to decrease the incidence of a second stroke.
so where the hair go doc
It's something!
I think he really meant that.
Steve Martin got a Hair up his ear
Awesome
Pressure washing for ears.
i could not see the hair.
Would have been funny as hell if the water came shooting out the other ear.
Sounds like the sound effects from Quatermass!
Where do you get the camera lens end for your phone
at the doctor iPhone accessory store. cellscope.com
Can I have one of your sarcastic replies 😂
You are really great, 👍🍻
Water Pik for the ears, yeeha!
Second ....not been this early before
I think you mean "First."
Video had potential but there’s nothing to see here
Now thats pure D nasty
This is like watching ear porn!!
Bob is handsome!
+Lisette Garvin I'll be sure to let him know.
Lisette Garvin I
Pluck it out!
