"An Epic Game of Empire-Building and Conquest", so few word can be used to describe a memorable game that really touched my inner gaming soul. Kinda funny they already knew it would've been such an epic game. Damn, it was so worth the money and the time.
thanks to the smart and emotional composer Stephen Rippy! He comined modern electronical sounds with antique-feeling theme`s. Wonderful, the people should recognize his work!
@Calibur316 Same here, I remember going in stores and stealing PC Gamer CDs from the magazines lol and I got hooked after playing the demo. My dad paid $50 for this game when it first came out.
I just recently got this onto my new comp, but sadly the music is slightly screwed up. Even after years of not playing the original, I still remembered how the music went and I say the music is more memorable than what's in AoE 2 or 3.
When I was a kid I had a demo from a CD from a PC magazine, tried it out got hooked... Still remember first time when 1 hoplite totally destroyed my whole town... lol
This song always scared me when i was playing 1v1 against the cpu. No communication, all alone, could be attacked any second, had to keep up walls, OH NO WE RAN OUT OF GOLD SUPPLY!, gotta scout the land for more, get spammed with ballista missiles from watch towers, get scared, try somewhere else, build camp there, get attacked, no villagers there, bring some more and some troops, build a watch tower, build a wall, be scared and lonely again...
I remember the old stone age -_- killing Lions, Elepahnts and Krokodiles. Still remember they saying "DANAIIII??? AAA HOLMAASSS" and the priest "AIIIYOOOHHYOOOO" hahah lol. Love this game ;)
@3oMethylmorphine yeah, I used to have this set of songs but one day for some reason all of the songs changed and only like one song from this set was on.
Best part of my life... Like if you liked one of this game... Rogue Spear/Heroes of Might And Magic 2(or 3)/Age of empire 1(or 2)/Baldur's Gate 1(or 2)/Last Express/Counter Strike 1.6...

First played this game when I was 9. Now I'm 21 and still play this game every once in awhile with my college buddies. Mostly Age of Kings though.
I still have the disc. After nearly 15 years.
I guess me too!
Anıl Akyel Same here. I copied the soundtrack off it to play at work! :)
I used the game CD to play the musics in my car, and it did work :)
This song brings memories back for me... i still play the game and its like nothing is changed... except my age :P
That piano still sends shivers down my spine.

Whoever came up with this music is a genious
The villagers, yes. That game taught me that you can build anything if you swing your arm back and forth with a hammer constant.
Man I got this game from a cereal package. Best bonus thingy in a Rice Bubbles packet ever!

@AKCpico The newer versions of the game, and the gold edition have music from AOE1 and 2. They miss out some music from both games, like this one.

@3oMethylmorphine yeah, I used to have this set of songs but one day for some reason all of the songs changed and only like one song from this set was on.

@Plausiblesarge Yeah, it's more about making them for the money nowadays. Games just may never be the same as they were in the Millennium (2000) era.
