Hey everyone!
If you're a fresh player, and you're not sure how to start learning Fortnite's building mechanic, this is a great place to start.
If you practice the building patterns in this video, you'll develop the perfect foundation to start winning build battles and quickly advance to intermediate and expert building/editing techniques. I'll talk about more advanced stuff in my next video. Enjoy!

my aim is great and I’m pretty good at playing until somebody comes and builds a whole hotel and I’m stuck down there sweating not knowing what to do and building a couple stair while holding back my tears and die.

That’s impossible, beginners aren’t as use to fighting and worry to much about dying but when you get use to dying if gets easier

I have realized that learning is actually what people desire. I've played so many games and learning new mechanics is the best feeling in the world. Once the game stopped offering new things to learn, that's when it stops being fun.
Thats why i enjoy Rocket League so much :)
appreciate this video, started playing fortnite with my friends recently and we occasionally win but most of the time only get top 5 because we lose to teams who can build skyscrapers in .05 seconds

When my friends gone stress because teaching me how to build: first press settings,go to quit,and then press the ps button, go to the shut down button.
Just started playing with my nephews a few weeks ago. I've won a couple of times being an aggressive shooter, but the building part of the game is beyond me. I never build anything. I decided to try to learn and this is very helpful.
How's it going? Did you figure it out? I know it's an old comment. I'm playing with my 14y old son and feel like a total moron in the middle of all these teenagers building and piece controlling while I'm a deer in headlights. Still trying to figure it out and practice.

Your video was very helpful, I can't believe how fast I am building reinforced ramps and turning now after just one 30 minute practice session. I will definitely be checking out your more advanced videos once I have the basics down better.

Best beginning build guide i have seen. You explain not only what you are building buy why you should build that particular structure. You give explanation as to the situations to use them aswell. I play on Xbox with controller and this is helping me heaps already. Just starting playing the game aswell. Thanks again
Yo this guy is like so nice for taking his time to tutor people who aren’t that good at building- I like this tutor better than most of the other ones because it’s easy to understand and he is not just going sweat for no reason he is actually teaching us with out really showing off like most RUclipsRS would. hated Fortnite up until season X, dunno why but it seems really tempting to get into it now... But these building mechanics seem like would take me a long ass time to learn properly :C

I am new to Fortnite. I hardly build because I play on Switch and it is a lot harder to do than if I were on a PC. You, sir, deserve a subscribe for this tutorial.

Thank you so much man. Been practicing the skills in this video for about a week with new keybinds and im seeing an improvement in my building. It takes a long time to really clean it up and not build extra pieces or even wrong pieces, ex: a roof at the top of a ramp when I'm climbing up a reinforced ramp.

Honestly, after playing for 5 months and never really building well, this has given me hope. This was explained well and my walls in creative are looking like what I see in a real game. Gonna practice a hell of a lot more and hope to not have a panic attack and forget everything when an opponent is trying to take my life 😂

@@toast2980 to me that’s a huge gift because I play well with no building but the second someone starts building my brain speed goes from 100 to 0 and I have no fucking clue what’s happening until I die

This video is really good, i started playing on and off since season 3 and I never cared for fortnite's building mechanics but getting back into it for maybe the 20th time i decided it's probably time i learn at least something, still don't care for super crazy building but a simple ramp rush can at least get me somewhere. Great video for someone just trying to learn something simple instead of someone doing lightening fast edits and builds telling you to search up other build tutorials.

As a new player myself I would say the 180 turn is one of the most important things to learn especially with a build battle. You can really confuse players just by building up
I've played since 2017 and even have the trooper skin to prove it. I've never been able to build but this video helped me a ton. Thank you so much for this no bs guide. You don't have any stupid sellout points, cringy overexaggerated forced tone, are straight to the point, and don't have any stupid "giveaways" in the middle of the vid.
So im very far from being a beginner. In fact i started in season 1 chapter 1. But everything you said in this video really would help new players. And whenever a new player asks me to give them tips, ill be sure to send them this video. Definitely a like and a subscribe!
This is hands down the best Fortnite channel for improving at the game.

As a semi-pro, I can confirm that this includes pretty much everything you need as a beginner. You're gonna get there, don't worry. It takes time for muscle memory to build up and once it's there you're gonna do pretty well!
Note: practice these daily, once is okay, twice is good, anything beyond that and if you're consistent, you'll improve in no time!

So I started playing fortnite like a month ago and needed this, I was soooo bad at building while fighting but this helped me alot ors now been two weeks since I watched this and I'd say I win fights like twice as much after getting this down

If you are in the process of finding keybinds for building, for your wall, ramp and floor: try to use 3 different fingers for the three binds. Personally I use my index, ring and pinkie but its up to you. Make sure you can go forward and jump while building also. I'm saying using 3 different fingers from experience, I used to use just my index and ring finger for building which isn't terrible when I got used to it but, using 3 different fingers for the 3 binds helps you build just that fraction quicker which can win or lose build fights...
What are your feelings about binding build buttons to the mouse?
I use q for ramp e for wall f for floor v for pyramid

@@paulv5651 thats also an option but my personal preference is keyboard keys. I'm not saying mouse is a bad option but it just isn't right for me. Also, I'm the exact same with E I just can't change it, I've tried but I just place whatever structure it was bound to when I was looting haha
I can almost reliably do a double reinforced ramp rush in creative but whenever I do it in an actual match I mess it up 100% of the time. Should I just keep practicing or am I doing something wrong?

@@sakshamkesarwani4770 A lot of people can combat but not build some people could have just joined Fortnite and want to learn and it takes time to learn and master building mainly if they didn't start at Chapter 1 Season 1.
You are likely panicing in the match and doing things too frantically
I just started playing this chapter because of the Marvel addition. Not everybody is good. A lot suck, a lot are like me (build quick protections/ good aim) but not winning box fights or high ground takes
