The coupe is of course more of a collectors item. I love both body styles very much, but I always prefer convertibles. I never got as many compliments on a car than on my E85 convertible. From old ladies to 10 year old boys, on a weekly basis. Everyone seems to love these cars, they don't make 'em like this anymore. And always black on black please :-D . The video was great fun!

I would like to see a drag race of both cars perhaps after the rolling road, it should make a good content if a Z4M is part of a comprehensive analysis of of e85/6 Z4.

The Coupe is the better car as its a motorsport product, engine is magnesium with 265hp opposed to 230hp, the engine sits lower and further back in the coupe, it gained 68% torsional rigidity with a roof fitted and it looks a miles better in coupe form, it's also much rarer in coupe firm and hasn't deprecated to £1400 for a 3.0i. Performance wise its pretty much evens to 60mph but the 3.0i takes just over 16sec to 100mph, the coupe is 14sec dead to the ton, the extra power is up the top. P.S your never getting 53mpg out of a 3.0 six cylinder petrol, you'd struggle with that on a 3.0D
I do love the look of the Z4 , but I miss the days when I was around Joel's age and we used to tune our mk1 escorts and other cars that are worth ridiculous money nowadays even for a mk1 1100 or 1300 2 door escort , let alone the Mexico's, In west London in the mid 80s I had a mini with a bored out 1275 into a 1430 with twin webber's a dog box , straight through stainless exhaust, apart from a slightly wider exhaust and wheels, it looked like most mini coopers, it was bright red with a white roof and number plate on the bonnet and a couple of spot lights, that thing canned everything from standing at lights up to 65mph , I used to look for yuppies in their golf GTI s which were never even close, my mini left Porches and anything like that going across the westway through Brentford and hounslow, obviously on the motorway they'd catch up and overtake but mine cost under a grand. My cosssie sapphire wasn't as fast up to 65mp either, but obviously faster top end, the mini was great fun , until I had a family and had to sell it. Cars nowadays if troubled I'd usually by dodgy electrics, Although I need to get the Z4 out of my system, so will be buying one this spring.
Did you ever consider buying a hardtop? I wonder how the Z4 coupe looks next to one Z4 with a hardtop. Im thinking about buying a hardtop myself as well..
Everybody normally says the coupe looks better lol, I think if your going just for looks, the roadster with a hardtop fitted looks awesome and IMO looks better than the coupe, each to their own though, I know for certain though that come summer, I'd no way pick the coupe over top down motoring in the roadster.
