What a lovely day out fishing with your son. It shows why it’s not all about the catching, more the experience. Myself I have never landed a single fish through the ice, one day hopefully 😊
Absolutely, I have caught plenty of fish and I find brook trout are either 'on' or 'off'. But like you recognized, this day wasn't about the fish. I am glad something simple like this is appreciated. :)

Kevin - what a beautiful day fishing with Owen. There’s something really special about a day fishing with Dad or Grandpa. Some of my favorite memories are fishing with loved ones. If you visit any cemetery, you’ll likely see depictions of fishing on headstones. Fishing with Dad is what makes life worthwhile.

Hello Owen and dad, a terrific day out for the boys. The grinding of the auger through the ice reminded me of the sound of finger nails on a blackboard from my school days.
The fish didn’t cooperate for you two but the sunshine and breeze added up to a quality day. You had the added bonus of discovering a leak of the stove on a sunny day out rather than in bleak weather on a multi day canoe paddling trip. Cheers, Paul

While the name Owen will always make think first of "Throw Mama From The Train" (which is a great thing to think of) your lad will always be #2 - I hope you both understand that being runner-up to to that movie is about the greatest honor one could have.
