    A victim of bullying will remember being bullied because it was a core, traumatic event. Bullies don't remember because for them, it was just a Wednesday.

    • @bcpr9812
      @bcpr9812 5 месяцев назад +829

      Yes, and then if their victims confront them about it and go to someone in a position of authority to hold said bully accountable, the bully interprets _that_ as abusive, as though _they're_ the victim of bullying. Unfortunately I deal with that in the form of my middle-aged landlord, who is shamelessly narcissistic and incapable of taking any responsibility or accountability.

      They’re actually HIGHLY self aware. A lot of times kids like that use extracurriculars like anti bullying campaigns and charity work to make themselves look less suspicious. It’s a cover up because they know teachers and other authorities aren’t going to look into any accusations of them being bullies if they put up that “good person” image so they get away with more stuff that way.

      I used to think or hope that everyone grew out of it but I think anyone that has gone to a church or has left hs & started working should've realized by now that there's plenty of 30, 40, & even 50 year old bullies. (To clarify-not blaming the church bc bible makes it clear its gods job to judge, not us imperfect humans, but theres always that one person who thinks they can do his job better for him🙄)

    I was a middle-school bully too. there's no excuse but at the time my parents were going through a divorce, my dad abandoned me, my sister bullied me and my brother used to beat me. I took out the overwhelming emotions the only way my juvenile mind comprehended feeling better, and that was hurting people with my words. the girl I bullied was overweight and an easy target. when I went to high school, I had an epiphany over the summer. I confronted myself in an existential way and I knew I didn't want to be that kind of person anymore. I apologized to the girl I bullied at the start of that year, and even though she didn't have to accept or understand, she did. because she is amazing. anyway we became best friends. I'm talking sleepovers every week, working together, playing video games and watching anime. if it wasn't for her I never would've met my husband. she has been my best friend for 15 years now and was my maid of honour at my wedding. I can't imagine my life without her. we always quote the KungFu Panda "A bully turned friend is friend to the end". in the situation of Amber, instead of confronting her behaviour and feeling empathy for others, she hasn't had a catalyst for the change. she is still a bully, and is using classic methods like becoming the victim and justifying. she is lying to herself instead of owning up and showing her growth.

    I tried confronting my middle school bully on facebook. The girl who poured a scalding cup of hot chocolate on me through the bleachers at a football game, told all the boys that liked me that I had aids, tore my clothes off me on the bus while laughing maniacally, and the list goes on. Her response? "Aren't you like 30 now? Get the f over it already." Oh well, she's going bald and has 6 ugly kids with four different guys (none of which stuck around). Karma has taken care of things for me.

    I was bullied for many years because I couldn't speak English, when I was a kid. My bully apologized to me when we were in high school. She said that her parents would always fight before they got divorced. Her bulling others was a way to cope with it and get their attention. I accepted her apology and told her that maybe she should apologize to the other people she bullied, if she wanted closure and to be able to move on peacefully. We were kids and it did affect me growing up. Parents are a huge part of molding kids into adults. Amber picked up habits from her mother, her mother must not accept when she's wrong, either. The sad truth about these bullies is they don't "grow and evolve". They don't grow at all, they just age. They stopped evolving at the maturity level of an 8-year-old bully. I have experienced *well known professionals in my community* in their 30s, 40s, 50s engaging in mean girl/bully behavior, (illegal) "pranks" against women they're jealous of that put the targets in danger, smear campaigns that damage careers and the mental health of the targets. Just because they're on some charity board doesn't mean they're charitable or good-hearted. Sometimes it's a cover, and that's how the schollyard bully has managed to blend into society.

      @margeryojije7862 Месяц назад +1

      I agree…to an extent, on the one hand you’re not wrong when you say some people will use charity and good deeds to compensate for a dark past. That’s honestly the reason why I could NEVER be friends with someone who used to bully me, because the friendship will feel forced, and for me…its hard to tell whether they're turning over a new leaf to feel better about themself or because they genuinely want to do good.
      Albeit…as the saying goes: “actions speak louder than words” someone who promises to be a good person, isn’t as sincere as someone who genuinely does good. The idea that a bad person can never truly change or be deserving of a second chance is purely subjective. That’s the thing about opinions: cognitive dissonance prevents people from seeing that MULTIPLE things can be true at the same time. (I’m not saying that’s what your doing, this is just adding to my point)
      What if you were to tell a 11 year old, who used to bully. That: “you can never change” that’s in my book is wholly incorrect.

    • @Thecosmicbrat369
      @Thecosmicbrat369 Месяц назад +1

      @margeryojije7862 I'm not talking about those who turn over new leaves or people who used to bully. Those who have grown into adults and choose to continue bullying - because a lot of them do. Hard to change after decades down a dark path, although it is possible. Highly unlikely, but possible, and usually only after they've blown up their lives and harmed others in the process.

      The desire for retribution ended for me when I grew up and found out exactly what my bullies were living through at home. Severe physical sexual and emotional violence left me wishing I had been mature enough to realize the “red flags” were white flags, screams for help. I wish now I had brought up the bullying to the authorities instead of handling it myself. Yeah, I made the people who bullied me stop bullying me and stop bullying anyone while I was around. But I didn’t stop the bullying because I wasn’t old enough to realize that my bully was in essence showing me what they went through. My high school bully has my number, and knows I am there for them. I feel like I failed them in school, like I was the only one to see what was going on, but I didn’t even think there might be a cause. I feel sprry for Amber. As a person that was bullied from my first day of Kindergarten to my last day of high school, I applaud these people for going after their bullies. I still have mental, emotional and psychological problems from being bullied. I wasn't allowed to have friends or they would be bullied too. Why was I targeted? I had red hair. Years and years of damage to me simply because my hair color was different from everyone else's. To this day, I have no friends. I trust absolutely no one...not even my family. These bullies think it's funny but it's so not. They're why people snap. If schools took it more seriously instead of having the "kids will be kids" attitude then maybe there wouldn't be any school shootings. People like that should be prosecuted. You think I wasn't hurt? My scars are all on the inside and trust me they run deep. I have thought about suicide 98% of my life every day. Just because there are no bruises or cuts on the outside doesn't mean that there isn't major damage to me. So to all these people going after this girl for bullying them, I applaud you. She had low self esteem from it, and depressed from young on. I remember the time her confidence shifted and she later told me it was when she read the verse psalm 139:4, I praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” She said she started to repeat it to herself anytime she felt low and she no longer found her self worth in what other people thought. She has way more friends than I do now, and she always gets compliments on her hair from strangers. And as i considered why this was, I realized that I had gained confidence in aspects of my life that I hadn’t prior to that and it made it not matter much at all. Once they stopped mattering to me I no longer cared and then they moved on to someone else. I don’t wish suffering on them I don’t hold onto whatever pitiful attempts they used to make my life miserable. Whatever power they had over me I took from them. Speech patterns taught while growing up &/or having been made nervous, due to any given situation or circumstance, can cause this well into adulthood & even permanently. Basically, she was trying to say she had few words aside from perhaps once, but the last part came out first. Talking a lot should not be considered lying either.
