    Good, could even go longer.
Ideas seeing as how you asked -
Guests. (Why not ask Santo, Ed then if we have to - Sam for a start. The other podcasts you guys have mentioned - their hosts - their guests - anybody selling anything relating to football content - as well as old presenters.)
I liked your state of the union style dissection of the new ten program.
You're dead right. Australian commercial media's simulteous strangle hold on the domestic game - and complete lack of execution, engagement or even imagination - has turned many an Australian off the game.
There are just so many ways to spend money on the pursuit of football- people are wary.
A long form podcast is one thing but I think you're selling yourselves short in terms of what you can achieve.
Old/existing segments I loved that you could come up with a spin on-
The world game did these Sunday marathons on sbs.
It's interesting to focus primarily on the national teams and the a - leagues. So this is your point of difference- but it is limiting.
I would look at arguably the most successful sports entertainment show in this country - the footy show.
They excelled at engaging rural communities and fans on the ground.
They had a lot of comic relief and they previewed all of the games.
One of the parts I remember as a kid was the use of the home videos - making up a series of competitions you could vote on and the best video would get prizes.
Something like this around Australian football would surely be a winner.
Obviously if it was mostly grass roots upto NPL stuff you hopefully wouldn't run into copyright infringement.
"Damo" used to have a great segment on the world game which was similar.
You'd have the "maldinis" for example which was basically defensive calamities.
Having somebody come in and try to crack up the host who maintains stoicism and respectability throughout the rest of the show like Les did.
Engaging more of the Italian, Greek, Macedonian, Lebanese, Serbian, Turkish, Croatian etc etc communities in this country that
Really use the game as a beacon to rally around.
So human interest components, causes etc.
I personally can't stand like righteous outrage- I think it's chest beating that is often misguided. So I would try to dissuade you from conversations around those issues. Rather focus on vehicles and individuals for positive change.
For example you could contact the homeless world cup team - old George would be great for a conversation and he follows the A-League.
    Is damo still about ?
Give Max Rushden a msg or hit up his Amateur soccer team for a match and interview him twist his arm to give you a plug or invite you on to the guardian football show as an Australian football authority.
    Other segment ideas -
    Player profile - a league
    Player progile - npl
Goal of the week/show etc - have people submit clips.
    Interviews.
I really like the athletic tifo podcast.
They do spurious random football trivia and other weird games.
I guess it could be cringe if it doesn't play well, but maybe you just need to edit such things...
I saw recently somebody refer to "Predictions" as "Prophecies"
And so I quite like the idea of a segment called "Australian Football Prophecies"
Or whatever- outrageous takes that will come back around to make you look silly or like nostradamus. I'd like that.
Lots of preview/little bits of review.
Interviewing old characters of the game. Former national team players or a-League players/officials/coaches/fans.
    Highlight weird fan behaviour.
Issue a best a league chant challenge. Highlight particularly fkn embarrassing crowd behaviour - make fun of it rather than being... what elitist about it or morally superior... I hope that isn't offensive lol
The world game shaped hole in my life has never been filled - but even they made about a tenth of their content about the domestic game ? So yeah.. plenty of stuff there - good on youz all..
Ps: I think HTC sevens the football iceberg series these are great. Zealand and zealandism - James Allcott...
Maybe you could find out what Lucy Zelic is up to?
Coming live from games even if it's just a post match reaction - definitely a winner.
The best part of this show is the passion and the honesty. So yeah don't take my suggestions the wrong way. I'd just like to see you grow !

Thanks Sam for putting in the effort tu put this message together.
There's lot's of great ideas in there. I'm not sure how many fit our podcast in its current form, given that as we said in this episode, we're trying to take the game a little more seriously with a news-style show.
However, we're constantly thinking about new lenses to create in which people can consume content around the Australian game - some of which you'll see being launched in the coming weeks.
A lot of your ideas have scope to be successful in an Australian media landscape and will keep them handy if we ever decide to branch out in that direction.
      Thanks for your support!
