My grandfather sang in that quartet he died when I was three months old so this the only way I get to hear his voice. Had it not been for Hank Williams kind heart I would not get this opportunity.
Hello Jessica. It's been some 8 years ago since you wrote this post. I want to thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience with us. Such a rare true blessing for us all to hear your grandfather's voice. God bless you until we meet, here on earth or in Glory.
Religion is not the issue. This was saying farewell to the king of Country music. The way he wrote music also influenced many rockabilly acts. However his lyrics did touch hearts and they still do to this day. No songwriter has written a song that reaches into the soul the way his lyrics do. His lyrics depicted what went on within and it takes incredible bravery to put that out there. Yes, he believed in and loved God, but he was also a man subject to the temptations the world around him offered. He is at peace now. RIP Mr. Williams.
The best of the best. Always our favorite singer of all times. No one will take your place . We will meet you in Heaven one day.Hank you are truly loved...
My grandmother was a little girl when this was broadcast. She told me that she distinctly remembers listening to this on the radio when it aired. Listening to it sends chills down my spine.
I'm five years younger than Hank Williams Jr. and brought up in a different age than Hank Sr. I grew up on Elvis and Carl Perkins and The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and I could go on endlessly. But the music of Hank Williams Sr. cuts through all the other stuff I've mentioned and reaches right in to my gut. When I heard, "I'm So Lonesome..." for the first time, I didn't know it was by Hank. I was only a kid at the time. That was the first song that ever made me want to cry. That song is holy.
RIP Hank your legacy continues to live on and all thought the styles have changed your legacy leaves all of music in great hands. God bless You Hank and can not wait to hear you sing in those golden roads.
It's sad to see the good die young! There always remembered of all the great songs he's written and still heard of! Rest in Peace Hank! Heart mind spirit and soul!
THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER FOR POSTING THIS VIDEO..WHERE IN THE WORLD DID YOU FIND IT. HANK WILLIAMS WAS BEST THERE EVER WAS AND THERE WILL BE ANOTHER LIKE HIM. HE WAS AN ABSOLUTE GENIOUS!! IT IS GREAT ABLE TO "ATTEND" THE FUNERAL OF MY IDOL BY WAY OF THIS WONDERFUL VIDEO....THANKS AGAIN
I heard a story once of a woman who was the greatest female singer of her time.A man had written a beautiful song and she was going to sing it that night. He was there that night along with other critics. She got on stage sang the song and their was not a dry eye in the house. The critics asked the man what he thought of her performance. He said it was good but she will sing it better when she gets her heart broken.Thats why Hank put so much in his songs because he has had his heart broken before.
I was 6 years old when ole Hank passed. I became a big fan as my mother and father loved his music. I play his music on my live Gigs. Everyone loves Hank! RIP.
I am a classic music fan. But Hank Williams was a favorite of mine growing up in Montana. He was a great entertainer & a master wordsmith. God bless him & thank you for posting. Ps the "precious Memories" was the very best I have ever listened to. Wayne Denver
WOW.... thanks I have been a a fan as a child...my father gave me the gift of listening to music and the abilty it had to make my heart happy. He gave me the gift of HANK WILLIAMS !!!! This man was awesome and his messages live on.
That's so sad . I've never heard this before . Good job editing this video . Hank Williams Sr. is missed , but still loved all over the world. He'll never be forgotten .
I remember this as if it were yesterday. I was an 11 year old boy in Atlanta. I was getting in the car with my grandmother and the funeral announcement was on the radio. I loved Hank Sr. then and still do.
here's a artist who brought love to many homes worldwide still the greatest singer of all times.( HANK WILLIAMS ST) GOD BLISS. TRIBUTE ARTIST JESSE PAUL.
My Dad lived at the orphanage above the grave yard and snuck out to see Hank Buried. On his way back to the orphanage a rattlesnake bit him on his leg. He was 12 yrs old and said it was like a ball of fire in his le and he couldn't shake it loose.
Even before rock and roll was termed, Hank lived the life of a rock and roll legend. If you believe in forever, then life is just a one night stand. If there's a rock n roll heaven, you know they got a hell of a band. Show them how its done Hank!
And in 1989 Hank Jr released a song video of his dad's song Tear In My Beer where he superimposed himself into the video, making it appear as if they were singing together. Jr had to change his dad's mouth movements, making it look like he was singing that song, even though he was actually singing Hey Good Lookin.'
RIP Hank. Even though you're gone, your songs and legacy continues on. I grew up listening to your songs, and even though no country music station plays traditional country music anymore, I can get it on Willie's Roadhouse. Again, RIP Hank. A country music legend gone too soon. 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Hank was music writing genus before all , and his songs will live on to every one give ear their soul will be moved RIP its all mot time to rise again hank what is life if you don't leave friends MassVocals
One of my Great Uncles Neal "Pappy" McCormick gave him is first real music gig. He picked him up on the street corner in Montgomery, Al. My uncle needed a guitar player. They where doing commercials for WFSA tv. Because all TV back then was live. And he never left after he started till the La. Hay Ride. Me and my uncle talked many times about Hank. And I could tell you some stories I've heard. And yes Jami Spencer you are correct!!! My uncle has said I don't know how many times the same things.
Blessed be Hank Williams sr and Lord I pray his soul is at your door ,set him free ole Lord , he was one sinner like us all, in Jesus precious name I ask for forgiveness of all our sins dear Lord, Amen
He was the Elvis of Country and Western. Who would have thought that his son Bocephus would grow up and equal or even top his dad's success? I like the preaching on Jesus Christ in this recording. We need more of that today and not only during a funeral. Jesus saves.
This is amazing! I wonder why this was recorded though? Like I wonder if it was broadcast on radio and I wonder if this is the most complete recording?
Hank Williams died because of an addiction to alcohol, and drugs. Unlike Jesus the myth Williams was not a myth, but also did not have any savor qualities.
otherworldtrader1 Hank knew his talent was a gift from god and his time was short. He knew he was a sinner and was always humble about god doing work through him. Perspective.. One person has had more songs written about them or mentioning them.. That was jesus
I love a lot of singers , but Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior and I'm not a shamed to admit that he's my #1 . Back when Hank Williams Sr. was a live you hardly heard of people whom were atheist . Up until recently...the past 15 years , I had never met an atheist . Most people were God fearing and they worshipped God . Not anymore ! They are a lot of people going to hell if they don't get right with God . I'll always keep my faith no matter what . I know Hank was a sinner , but we all are . But I would bet he knew and had respect for Jesus Christ . That's just the way it was and it should still be like that , but sadly it's not .
My grandfather sang in that quartet he died when I was three months old so this the only way I get to hear his voice. Had it not been for Hank Williams kind heart I would not get this opportunity.

One might argue that the King of Country music wasn't the guy in the coffin, he was the guy singing "I Saw The Light" over it.
My grandmother was a little girl when this was broadcast. She told me that she distinctly remembers listening to this on the radio when it aired. Listening to it sends chills down my spine.
