    i have been to Serbia 4 times. EVERY TIME, the landlord makes issues with the registration. And it ALWAYS takes at least an hour at the police station. Terrible experience. The government should ditch this ridiculous antiquated procedure.

      You violate the law if landlord waits over 24 hours after you enter Serbia. Such a pain.

    Thanks Julie and Warren for the video. Serbia is a great country. It does take some patience in the country as everything does not run as smoothly as you expect. We've been there many times and enjoy the people and the culture.

      It's a territorial tax system so I'm not sure where you're coming up with 30%. No Serbian tax on foreign income and 20% or less on domestic income depending on the amount.

    Serbia is landlocked. And has a surprising amount of graffiti in Belgrade. Not for me.

      Lol, landlocked, what does it mean? So from landlocked country you can't go on vacation and beaches? Lol, Germany isn't landlocked but they don't go on vacation to their beaches, they going to other warmer countries, does it mean no one should live in Germany 🤣🤣🤣

      I have to agree, the place needs a good pressure washing and the people are very hard to get to know. As in Romania next door things dont operate as smoothly as you would think so it gets very aggravating, prices have gone up to like everywhere else, but Novi Sad and Belgrade housing has risen far too high.

    Buying a house on Serbia very dangerous. you are almost certain to lose all your money. Most houses for sale are scams, or won't meet the requirements for Residency permit.

      ​@tammylove8337 Exactly 💯 You can only buy what is legally registered. So if house has 3 floors, but only one is registered, then anyone can claim the other 2

    Beware buying property in Serbia. The banking system is beyond awful. You CANNOT pay your utility bills through online banking until you have had a residence permit for a year! I made this mistake already and it was a royal pain in the a** to then sell the property. I LOVE Serbia, but this obstacle is a massive detractor to foreigners buying property, never mind the other processes needed to formally buy and sell the property later. Too many details to post here.

      True before you xan wire money, you need a permit from the tax office that takes one to two weeks, and bank takes another week.

    So do retirees have to OWN a residence in order to have a three year residence permit or does a retiree without a purchased residence also have to run a business for the residence permit or???

      Either is possible, but the business doesn’t have to really be a business.

    I guess I don't like Serbia as much as you folks. Have you been to Belgium? My country is beautiful and welcoming.

      We have, unfortunately the ability to obtain residency in your beautiful country is not near as easy for an American for instance as Serbia. So we can visit Belgium, and unfortunately it uses the same 90 days every 180 days we have available as the 29 Schengen countries. This limits the attention we can give Belgium as we slow travel.

    You showed the wrong map of Serbia! Kosovo is part of Serbia and has never been recognized in the UN!!! the fact that the Americans recognize him means nothing.

      @@stevan2399 most Serbians are nice and polite, we enjoyed our visits to Serbia especially Novi Sad and Zlatibor check out those videos. We can’t make everyone happy, there is always someone in every country looking to be offended no matter how positive a message. It’s like bringing a fantastic chocolate cake to a party, 99% will like it and there will be the one person who will not like chocolate. Or like the bakery etc.
