Gentle Giant is currently experiencing a second life! A musical reincarnation more than 40 years after the band's initial recognition. Thank you, Steven Wilson, for continuing to breathe new life into these fabulous old recording gems for the internet. You are truly waking a sleeping Gentle Giant.
There are a select amount of small groups of truly original musicians, and Gentle Giant is one of those groups. They changed my life, and like many, many others, elevated the taste and understanding of music. We all enjoy music, but this group actually taught us about classical, jazz, fusion, and progressive music through rock and roll. Their recent resurfacing is a true inspiration.
This group seemed to escape many during the time. It wasn't for any lack of talent. I'm happy that they are probably more popular today than back in the beginning. The cream will always rise, even though it takes 50 years.
The radio stations didn't want to play GG because they were afraid people would change the channel. It wasn't easy listening. It wasn't good for background music. You had to actually listen to appreciate its Grandeur.
This is amazing. The level of composition and musicianship is unrivalled. This is an example why mankind is not complete trash. Thank you so much, this music sustains me.
What can I say about this elixir? Zappa was right about this group. They hit the scene and suddenly they were gone. Good to see an emergence of this great music. Only saw them once in concert. My loss. They seemed to disappear.
Sin dudas vanguardistas en una fusión de distintos tipos de ritmos básicamente la clásica. Steven Wilson made an excellent remix of that iconic song from Gentle Giant, I love the fact that he started by focussing the whole mix by letting the natural bass drum sound and that equally perfect bass tone breathing more naturally together, making that listening experience from that virtuoso's band, playing that perfect song score even more thrilling; The animation collage by Noah Shulman is interesting and fun to watch...!!
I'm diggin' the video! Listening to the most prog-rock band of the 70s prog bands, and watching a very terry Gilliam style animation... It doesn't get better than that! I praise yer effort. Very beautiful! I fukkin luv it!
Superb! Steven Wilson gaves clarity to the mix. It seems it was recorded today! The music, of course, is amazing. Gentle Giant is one of the best ever! Congrats to Noah Shulman for the very nice clip!
Loved them from the first moment I heard them early/mid 70's....saw them live in Chicago & even more impressed with their multiple instrument ability!!!

What a delight that there's been new stuff going on with this band. It's a Steven Wilson remix no less. Guy knows how to make good sounding music. I wish more musicians and audio engineers would learn from him.
I was lucky to be able to see Gentle Giant 1975 the band that was on the same bill...Strawbs what a great show it was...one of my all time favorites. Neither band was a "household name" but OMG excellent prog by any standard. Gentle Giant and Strawbs together WOW! BTW tickets were $5.00 in advance $6.00 at the door.
A bunch of nerdy guys, no show off egocentric front man stealing the limelight, not your average up-all-night debauched rockers. Just utterly fantastic musicians each hugely talented in his own right, unselfishly interplaying with each other. Will we ever see their like again? Come on Kerry - shake off that writer's block. We love your stuff man.
A really awesome song. I became aware of it thanks to Jordan Rudess' cover on his album "The Road Home". If you listen closely at 2:22, you can hear a bit of the main theme of "Battlestar Galactica". Considering "Just the Same" predates BSG by 3 years, I wonder whether or not Stu Phillips actually knew the song at that time.
My fav album with Acquiring the Taste. I pre-ordered my red vinyl copy already! My very first GG vinyl. I will shed tears when I hear Kerry''s voice in His Last Voyage...
Oh man, I'm so glad I found this. Really picked me up on a bluesy morning. I love Gentle Giant, and this is a wonderful tribute and addition to the world of GIANT!
Truly unique approach to composition, very innovative, crazy time signatures, unusual beats and rhythms, that carved out a special niche in the progrock explosion in the 70s. I was an instant fan the moment I heard The Advent of Panurge on the Octopus album. Yeah, Steven Wilson is a gifted engineer and did an incredible remix of the whole Free Hand album.
