@@ColorfullyOptimistic well, it happened with the Pro color! Maybe someday the Holbeins will find their use for something you color! 😁 Great video. I enjoyed it.
I love the Pablos, I had a good experience with them in a Rita Berman book, they laid down so smooth, almost like ink! Had to keep a really sharp point to get the best out of them. I coveted them a long time, and they're up there with the Polys for me. Love your manner and such informative narration, thank you!
Kori your coloring is absolutely gorgeous. I believe you could make any pencil wonderful. I have all these pencils and the higher end pencils. I love all my pencils. Thank you for sharing. I truly enjoy your channel. Happy coloring!
Great sets. I could be very happy with just the Derwent range of pencils, but even happier with Polychromos and Prisma and Caran d'Arch ranges thrown in as well. Budget pencils can be fun, but the more expensive ones can be a joy. As I watched I was using Derwent Procolour, Coloursoft and Artist pencils to colour a floral picture in Colouring Heaven's Botanics Collection. They love that paper. It's good to have favourites. We get very familiar with the colours and what we can achieve with them. But I'm still loving my small set challenges. 18 Pablos started me off on my Pablo journey. I did a double page spread in Secret Garden with those. I often use 36 pencil sets and since I was given them on my birthday at the start of May, I'm loving the 12 set of Blackwing pencils. Just 12, and 1 is silver! But I can make so many different shades and tones with them. I just add in a white from somewhere else. Plus I have to loan in any skin tones I need. But still, awesome pencils. Great quality. I wish they made a 36 set.
Derwent really does make some awesome pencils. Oh yeah, if you enjoy layering, you can create your own color range and never have to worry about purchasing a large set again.
There is nothing wrong with loving Crayola at all. I actually gave them a good first impression video awhile back. They're excellent! I just don't reach for them as often.
My very first set was the 150 Prismas and I loved them! But then I didn't use them for awhile and when i opened my case they were all cracked! Every single one~and from top to bottom, on both sides of each pencil! I know adore my Polychromos, Pablos, and Holbeins. My Prismas just sit~I may give them to my local charity art store. Awesome video! 😁
I contacted Blick about a week ago about when they may have the new Inktense in the open stock.. was told they are thinking by the end of this month or sometime in June.. so will be checking back....love the Inktense.. and enjoy coloring on fabric with them..
If you can't find good use of the prisma neons, let me tell you they are beautiful in a Sunset scene mixed with other colors. Also, try using them as an under painting on bright red and orange flowers, just go lightly. But Mixing them into a dusky sunset is my favorite. Loved seeing your favorite list Kori. Tfs
I agree! Also,I use the neons to color suns in my everyday journal. I really like the metallics too! The gold in particular is my most favorite gold of all my pencil sets because it is so realistic, so close to what real gold looks like. :)
I can use them, I just don't enjoy using them :). I think that is the difference with them. I have tried underpaintings and the sunset, but I feel I get a better color using the other pencils. However, there is nothing wrong with the neons or metallics, and quite a few people enjoy them, so I can see why companies include them :)
I find it interesting which pencils work for each person. I have had only bad experience with Prisma so am surprised to find them as your number 1 but happy that they work for someone. Your colouring is always beautiful.
We are all unique in how we use pencils too, so it can be hard to compare a pencil, and makes it worse if you had a bad experience with one! But yeah, Prismas are my go-to lol
Polychromos are my favourites, then it’s Luminance, Derwent Drawing, Procolour, and probably Inktense with an honourable mention for Chromaflow. I’d love to like my budget pencils more, but I don’t reach for them that often.
I love the neons and wish they would come out with a full neon set. It would be nice to keep them separate. The same goes for metallic. I would love to see a complete metallic line as a separate line. I love my old copper pencil. The new bronze just isn't the same. The old copper must have had actual copper in it. When I pulled it out after years of storage, it was tarnished. Sharpened it, and the copper color underneath was still intact, so, patina over time is actually possible. Wish I had purchased more back then.
Hi Kori. I’ve been coloring for a year and I found you fairly early in my journey. You gave me the confidence to color hair. That flick technique is brilliant! I can’t imagine coloring hair any other way. I love your videos. You enable me quite frequently. I bought the procolour recently because of you and I absolutely LOVE them for hair! My favourite pencils are very similar to yours. For different purposes I use derwent lightfast, luminance & prismacolour. I don't mind paying a bit extra for good quality. Being able to buy open stock is important to me. I probably don't colour as much as you so I don't chew through many pencils.
