I really like this kit. I did a quick check on line. There are kit that are to bad. But you know the quality of this kit. All you need is a haversack and some place to go.
That’s a great deal on them at the thrift store. Lots of nice mods and ideas you gave there. I have a set of miner’s lunch tins, I think there are 4 of them. They all stack on top of one another and secure with a SS strap. Way too big for most hikes but works well for car camping.
Besides salt and pepper, you might want to also carry some frying oil for the skillet, but I don't know if a film canister is the best way for storaging liquids. Perhaps some small glass bottle with screw on cap would be better for the oil.
The adult lunch box is a very deep rabbit hole. I don't do outdoors much but occasionally spend a day or two at some hotel room here and there on work trips where I often have breakfast and an evening snack in my room to avoid the usual excessive salt, sugar, and fat of eating out. Food grade PP is a *very* safe plastic but I prefer glass and still on the look for small vials for my pepper, english mustard powder, smoked paprika, and cinnamon along with glass bottles with glass stoppers for my olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and soy sauce. Recently had a back and forth on another lunch box video about the quest for a small portable grater for nutmeg, hard cheese, or chocolate.
I do wish there was an easy source for small glass containers. I found cork topped bottles but they are too small for practical use, made for craft projects. You reminded me of the kitchen folding multi tool I found while camping, it has a grater but too big to fit in that mess kit. Have a nice day!
@@blademan175 The easiest source equipment. Biologics / pharmaceutical grade stuff should be food safe by definition. For my everyday desk water bottle I actually use a Schott Duran YouTility borosilicate lab bottle. I believe in the US Pyrex would be equivalent but more commonplace.
Nice kit, although it's quite heavy. The handle of the skillet can be made by drilling two holes near the top of the small side to insert a specially bent wire-handle (as shown by 'waypointsurvival'). Mineral oil is not food-safe, you should use camellia oil instead, pure or mixed with bees wax. A small bottle of dish-soap and a piece of rubbing pad would be a useful addition.
You should take a look at "tiffins", which are the Indian lunch boxes. They stack taller, but in a cylinder shape They seem like they'd have a fun review from you
The small tin turn in to a first aid kit. The super small tin you put your medicines like asperin, antiacid, , alcohol and hydrogen peroxide, and water purification tablets or pool chlorine bleach tablets .

Thanks for sharing, sounds like a great set up!
I'm a fan of beech cutting boards. They are anti-microbial. I just offer them up to a planer when they get a bit beat up.

I would like to see you go out in wild and use that kit

@ thanks for that information!
@@blademan175 ... curiosity ... as a fellow middle aged man, have you ever gone down the geiger counter / radioactive thrift store rabbit hole?
No I haven’t but it seems to be popular for a lot of folks! Take care!
ID be temped to keep some aluminum foil folded up in there to make it like a little oven within an oven. etc. very cool.
That is a great idea for adding some extra versatility!
I use that large collapsible as a pot for a quick brew, make sure you pull it tight before filling though. 😂🤘
Good tip!
@blademan175 I think I actually have a vid where I use it, in warks and wanders playlist.🤘
@ thanks, I’ll check it out!

Very good idea, thanks for your suggestion and for watching!

in my case I would load it with my food and carry all the spoons and other items in a bag
Make a tinder fire kit with the small one
Use the smaller one for a first aid kit.
Nice idea, thanks!
