    I've been looking for this cartoon since I was a little girl ! I always feel sad that Daisy was melted into munitions. This cartoon is clearly a sign of the times, I love it !

      It was World War II, and EVERYONE needed to help with the War Effort!

    When I watched it as a kid, this cartoon was so sad and depressing for me. Even now I can't find it funny. Those dark clouds... and reference to the WW2...

    I don't get. Why this Looney Toons dog seems a fusion between Goofy and Pluto? O.o

      Same actor played Goofy. Left Disney for a while and made this with Warner.

    The statue looks more like one of those Southeast Asian antelopy things that's critically endangered and lives in the jungle.
    Who would want that in their yard?

    • @LisaKoffler
      @LisaKoffler 5 месяцев назад

      Good question! I don't know the answer to that, but it was difficult to tell what breed of dog it was! Willoughby didn't care, after constant rejections!

      Willoughby just wanted love, even though "Daisy" was a statue instead of a real dog!

    Haha I was looking for this toon for a long time. I knew this guy who wanted to send his gf, Daisy, some flowers so I told him to call a teleflorist. He says to me, "Do I have to give them the address?"
    So I told him, "No just tell them her name and they will drive up and down the street yelling, DAISY!!!!" This cartoon always came to mind and I would tease him with an occasional, "Daisy!!!"

      I STILL think about "Daisy" from time to time - especially when I hear the name!

    ♥ ♥I love this. I brings many memories of my childhood
    What I found by chance because I did not remember the name of the episode, only reminiscent of a dog in love with a statue

      I have NO trouble understanding you! IF you were around during World War II, scrap metal was needed for the War Effort, and Willoughby was desperate for love, so he settled for a statue named "Daisy" instead!

    I had always wondered how WB's own Art Davis or Bob McKimson (who somewhat similiarly did 12949's "Grey-Hounded Hare") or lower budget rival Columbia, would handle the ending of this...the statue migght stay the samne and the dog would marry and have KIDS with it??:)

    • @LisaKoffler
      @LisaKoffler 5 месяцев назад

      Willoughby was desperate for love, and he settled for a statue named "Daisy," because of the constant rejections he experienced! He just went crazy after she LITERALLY exploded in his face after being changed into a bullet!

    Mmm... Isn't there something cut at 1:27 right after she says "No, I wouldn't like to be your girl...[sudden stop, moouth of dog moves without voice]"?

    • @LisaKoffler

      There was a white female dog that imitated Willoughby's laugh, and told him she wouldn't like to be his girl!

    Sexual over tones throughout this cartoon. Basically if this were made today he would hump the statue instead of kissing the object.Later he would hump the bomb and when he climaxed, the bomb would explode causing his genitals to dissolve rendering him sterile.

    • @LisaKoffler
      @LisaKoffler 5 месяцев назад

      What you're describing sounds more like an X-Rated version of this cartoon! IF Willoughby's genitals got "blown off," he'd be "a nothing," because there would be nothing there!
