to be fair any other Captain wouldn't have spared him (besides Ukitake), so he got lucky on that front at least

not only Ukitake, Hitsugaya, Komamura and Tosen also wouldn't kill him, just wound him to jail him like Kyoraku did.
Kenpachi wouldn't have killed him, he would've got bored of how weak he was.

Then chad became canon fodder 😂 he would still lost with his amp but would atleast gotten away maybe if this was arrancar version
