I've been muslim for a long time Ma shaa Allah and i have never looked at the parallels between Musa and Yusef and have read the stories many many many times and never looked at it this way. Allahu Akbar!!!! May Allah reward Yaqeen with a abundance of blessings Ameen!!
Shaiykh shadee made a great comparison. Thinking along the same lines i would like to add the siblings of both the prophets. Yusuf A. S had all male siblings, who were his rivals and tried to cause him harm. The brothers then returned to the father empty-handed without Yusuf A. S. While Musa A. S had a sibling of the opposite gender a sister, who followed the basket of her brother and watched over him to ensure his safety. And she intellectually made a suggestion at the Palace that she knows a woman who can nurse him. Consequently returning her brother Musa back to her mother. SubhanAllah.
SubhanAllah every time I watch an episode I say “this one is my favourite” but this one today Juz 12 takes the cake MashaAllah (allahuma inni saymah :) I think it’s because it talks about Prophet Yusuf whom I absolutely adore his story. And the parallels, just blew my mind subhanAllah. May Allah reward you all for your efforts.
Every night (from TURKEY) I have the opurtunity to listen to Quran 30 for 30, I (as a Dutch convert, 37 years ago, Alhamdulillah) learn so much from your lectures. Seeing you and listening to you makes me so happy. May Allah bless you and your Yaqeen institute❤
Dr. Omar asked the question "Why was Surah Al-Anfal named Al-Anfal, and what was it revealed in regards to?" A. The Spoils of War B. The Spoils of the Battle of Badr C. All of the above The answer is C. All of the above. Al-Anfal is the Spoils of War, and it was revealed in regards to the spoils of the Battle of Badr.
Jazakallahu Khairan for these reflections. An incredible discussion. Dr Elmasry's insights into the stories of the prophets and how they are all reflected in the Sira of the Prophet (pbuh) is incredible. Yaqeen should get Dr Elmasry to do a full session on this. I have watched hundreds (possibly thousands) of videos about Islam and related content and I have never heard this perspective before. It's an incredible way to view the story of Islam and the message of Allah(s) to his creation through the ages. There is no way such incredible stories with so many limbs could be coincidences over such lengthy periods of time in different generations. The more I think about it the more incredible it is. Absolutely amazing.
What is amazing is Allah blessed Yousef with one miracle of dream interpretation which was enough for the pharaoh to believe in him. While Musa pbuh preformed MULTIPLLEEE miracles by Allah’s will, yet the pharaoh did not believe. It’s the sheer willpower to disbelieve from the heart. not lack of logical signs & proof that the brain needs to believe in Allah.
Fellow Muslim, please choose your words carefully. Allah does not do "insane" things. Lets endeavour to give Allah His due respect when relating some of His acts of wisdom. May Allah increase us in guidance. Aameen.
Even in the stories of Zachariah and Maryam- parallel. One is given a child in old age w a barren wife. And one is given a child in a young child w no husband in the most blessed way. SubhanAllah
I’ve always been a huge fan of Sheikh Omar and Sheikh Oduro but after this episode Dr. Elmasry has been added on that list SubhanAllah I’ve never made this parallel between Musa a.s. and Yusuf a.s. It’s like my eyes have been opened to a new dimension JazakaAllah khair for your reflections
I loved the way Dr. Shadee Elmasry brought everything together. These parallels between Musa AS and Yusuf AS are actually so mind blowing! The story of Yusuf AS all in one surah and the story of Musa AS scattered... Subhanallah truly!!!
Subhan Allah What a beautiful comparison of Musa & Yusuf AS by Dr Shadi Elmasri Beautiful perspective We would read the Quran a 1000 X 1000 times with the Translation and the Tafaseer and would nevrr be able to see it that way So it is said Quran is for all Al hamdullilah 🤲🏻
MashAllah the title was truly not lying when it said “mindblowing”. Each and every day the beauty and design of the glorious Quran continues to astonish me more and more. Ramadan Mubarak to all of my believing and non-believing brothers and sisters alike ❤❤
Masha Allaahu, I loved the way Dr. Shadee detailed out the parallel similarities in the stories of prophet Musa and Yusuf. It was a very inspiring conversation. Barakallaahu feekum to the entire Yaqeen team and to us the viewers.
May Allah bless you abundantly, Dr. Shadee Elmasry, for such an enlightening discourse. Thank you, Yaqeen Institute, for this invaluable knowledge. Truly awe!
Loving Sheikh Shadee! And i loveeeeee the reflections from all three panels Subhanallah MashaAllah. May Allah grand us all beneficial knowledge! And may we be able to also spread beneficial knowledge to all!❤
Jazakallah Khair 🤲 As a revert, the stories of prophets Yusuf and Musa are very familiar to me. But the beautiful comparison/contrast just blew my mind. So deep 🙏
“I don’t have enough knowledge to assess what’s good and bad” - wow, this is a great reminder to assess the one who gives. Knowing that ALL comes from God gives rest to my heart. Jazak Allah Kheir, amazing episode. 🙏🏻💗
I’m so touched by this episode. Having belief in Allah and us also realising that we do not have the knowledge to know what we think is a blessing and vice versa. But we know He who provided it all and we believe in Him. Masha Allah. May Allah bless you all.
This episode was so profound and a new aspect of Musa A.S and Yusuf A.S and how Prophet ﷺ drove aspirations and inspiration from both in his life.. One of the best episodes until now, this year
Machallah، I was blown away by this exploration that I have never heard before, thank you very much for this tadabur, you have opened my eyes to aspects I have never thought of before, jazzakom allah khayr ❤
This is by far my favorite ❤, though I love all the episodes😊). I am in awe with the explanation of everyone esp. Sheikh Shadee about Prophet Musa and Yusuf. May Allah bless you brothers. May Allah guide us always.
SubhanAllah, all the episodes so far have been incredible but I watched this one a couple of times because of how moving it was. The parallels between the prophets prove how powerful and wise Allah(SWT) is and that He truly is closer to us than our jugular vein. That nothing we are going through is for no reason - that there is goodness in each trail, in each hardship, in each moment of uncertainty, in each moment of unsafely. I feel truly humbled after listening to this. May Allah reward all three of you for your efforts. Ameen.
SubhanAllah what an amazing reflection love❤ I won’t be able to read surah Yusuf again without thinking about the contrast between the story of Musa AS, I love seeing the sheikhs vibing and just enjoying & piecing together the mysteries of the amazing Quran
SubhanAllah, even the comments here are beautiful. Thank you for covering this topic. I’m reflecting on how different their upbringings are, too. Yusuf is born into what we tend to think of as relative safety, but he is sold out by his own brothers. Musa, on the other hand, is born into danger, at a time when Fir’aun is murdering every male child from the Jews-a situation which, ostensibly, is far more dangerous than Yusuf’s, yet Musa ends up safe. I cannot help but draw parallels between the conditions of Musa’s childhood and Gaza right now. May Allah give all of the people of Palestine freedom, an elevated status in Jannah, a good ending to this horrific story, like Musa (and Yusuf, eventually). And, may He empower us to help bring about their liberty. Allah knows and we do not know. SubhanAllah! I became Muslim 16 years ago and I have loved the story of Musa and Al Khadr in Suratul Kahf ever since I first read it. I even took the nickname “Musa” in the masjid. I listen to it every Friday and think about how our brains fool us into thinking that knowledge gives us certainty, all the while forgetting that even our fund of knowledge is a gift from Allah, which may or may not be expansive (or limited) based on His decree. All of which points to the idea that Allah SWT is all-aware and knowing. It also points to the higher knowledge of remembering that Allah SWT is in control and that to Him we belong, and to Him we return. Wishing everyone a blessed Ramadan 20:50
Watching this is making me Wao! wao!! imagine !❤ it's good to seek for knowledge ❤. May Allah swt increase you guys❤ We normally heard and read about the story of Yusuf (as) and Musa (as) but to say the fact, we don't normally look at it in this dimension. I love this juz 12 abeg❤
Subhanallah, what an amazing session. Truly inspirational and an eye-opener on the parallels and contrast between the life journey of Nabi Yusuf alaihi salam and Nabi Musa alaihi salam. Jazakallahu khayr. Makes you ponder and marvel at Allah's wisdom. He is truly the best of planners and the best disposer of affairs. A poignant reminder to self when one is so caught up in the trials befallen on him.
Surah Al-Anfal (the spoils of war) is one of the earliest Madani surah , it was revealed right after the battle of Badr, Yawmul Furqaan, the day the Muslims defeated the Quraish (took place in the 2nd year after Hijra in the month of Ramadan) and was given its name when the prisoners were still with the muslims and the muslims were wondering what to do with them and the ghanimah (war booty/spoils of war). Ghanimah meaning after a battle was over, the victorious ones would claim possession of all the armory, horses and belongings of the opposing side. There were controversies as to who should get what share and the surah was revealed to clarify, guide, and make things clear. May Allah forgive me if I've mentioned anything wrong even by the minor
So beautiful 😍 May Allah bless you, elevate you, increase you and envelop you in his mercy. I’ve learnt so much. I’ve never looked at with this lens before. So beautiful
Just another think I reflected on.. Musa (alai) story start with water and river..his mum putting him in a basket and sending in the water..later Musa story ends with sea was splitting and pharoh destroyed.. Same with Yusuf (alai) story begins with dream and his shirt is prominent accept in his story..2 incident based on his shirt as proof.. Even the story ends by sending his shirt to Yaqoob (alai) Isa (alai).his birth was a miracle and his ending is a miracle as well..

Got goosebumps listening to it
Yes, me too. I have studied a lot of tafsir and yet never came across this. Truly mind-blowing parallels. SubhanAllah, the Qur’an just keeps giving.
Me too and Allahumma ameen 🤲🏾
Can you please share a short but informative book about the story of Yusuf (as) ? I'd love to read it too!
Shaiykh shadee made a great comparison.
