If you're interested in buying a gas stove incase of a power outage be aware that some of the new models will not allow the valves to open without electricity, and so are unusable if the power's out.
Thanks for your series on induction! I’ve learned so much from you. I went to a store today (SF Bay Area) and was all in on the Thermador 36” freedom + 30” Bosch oven. The sales guy offhandedly mentioned that Thermador, Bosch, and Miele had crap to nonexistent service and that Wolf had the best service by far. I hadn’t planned on Wolf, yet here I am. The sales guy was surprised at how quickly I jettisoned Thermador/Bosch. 🤣
Thanks so much. i'm watching this webinar Jan 31 2023. So playing catch up - I see GE cafe has redesigned or updated their control configuration on their Induction cooktops. Do you have any thoughts for these new models eg 30" CHP90302TSS? How would you rate them for reliability and do they have problems / issues with the burners?
With the new Wolf induction range, do you guys recommend not using the self clean function? I heard that the interior could crack. What do you recommend?
I suggest an under-$100 110V induction cooktop for a trial - that's what I'm using. It's great for one-person meal cooking and for small tasks like boiling water. I'm weaning myself off California gas, and have found the advantages of the induction method are substantial. I use the timer on the unit most of the time such as when I use a porcelein teapot. Set the timer for 9 minutes for a quart of water and I'm good, even if I forget about this task, which is often. I think the timer, the cool surfaces and ease of cleaning are a great safety features. I don't know if the cooktops and stoves have timers.
Hello, So these are the 4 that I found. I like having the controlls as the GE is all tocuh. Samsung NE63T8911and NE63B8611 LG LSE4616BD and LSE4617ST Any recommendations? Happy to pay for your time I also need a good over range microwave. Samsung slim is supposed to have 550 CFM
Yes you can crack a glass induction cooktop! I got a small crack on the side of the cooktop after having my countertops replaced, and gradually it spread across the whole cooktop. Luckily it still cooks!
I am almost completely blind, have a little vision left in my right eye. I definitely have to have an oven with reliable smart capabilities. Up-to-date I have been looking solely at the GE café series, wishing and hoping that wolf would come out with smart capabilities but I also like the fact that the GE has the knobs on the front which is a Normas plus for me. Is there any other suggestions or recommendations that you guys can make from my particular situation. Your videos have been so helpful I’ve tried to call but of course you’re only available to people up in mass, any help would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for all the info you put out there.
Thank you for all of the information. I missed the webinar :-( Question: are the bridge elements on the Wolf a true bridge. What I mean is if there is a gap between the 2 elements? Is it just being able to sync 2 elements to power on at the same temperature. I think the Thermador has the entire surface as the element. Can you confirm? Sorry for all the questions.
Hi Steve, I hope you see this questions as I am writing six months after this was posted. Do you have any information on the invisacook stove top or if any other companies are getting into that type of induction stove top. They go under the granite or porcelain countertop so your counter is your cooking area. I have minimal counter space and am looking into this option when I remodel in a couple of months. Thank you for any information I really appreciate all of the advise you give and always turn to your videos when getting a new appliance.
I am sorry I didnt see this the first time. I know what you are talking about, and have seen them at trade shows of cooktops under granite. You can also buy singular gas cooktops. The names escape me, but I will look em up and let you know.
Hello, thankyou for this video. There’s not many videos with all this information. I’m debating between the Wolf and Bosch benchmark. My concern is the Bosch looks and feels softer than the Wolf and looks like it would scratch and crack more easier than the Wolf. Does the Wolf have a scratch resistance material on it and is it more durable than the Bosch or are they made with same exact material? Would you say Bosch is as good quality and durable as the Wolf? Thankyou
Hi. In moving to an induction cooktop I’m looking for one with a continuous cooking surface. I think the options are only the thermidor and wold. Which would you recommend? In the thermidor I noted that while it’s a continuous surface it’s overall power draw is lower than the Bosch. Should I be concerned? We do cook 3 to 4 pans simultaneously a few times a day and want to make sure the cooktop can handle that. Thank you
Having used an induction stovetop for 20 years, I must say I don't understand all this talk about quality, unless we have different expectations on what a vendor should be able to accomplish.
Nice video, but you didn’t talk about the technologies used to actually cook. I bought a portable induction cooktop and it is absolutely horrible for anything needing a consistent low or medium temperature because it operates only at 100% or 0%, alternating at different frequencies of on/off for the different temperature settings. Xiaomi has a portable unit that works with dual frequencies for the magnets in an attempt to eliminate this problem, but I have not tried it yet.
The video was not about portable induction units but built ins. Portables are 110 volt and do not have the output of the 220 volts. We have a library of induction to help you.
@@YaleAppliance1 Thank you for the reply. As I live in Europe, my portable is 220V. But the underlying technology problem is the same with it cycling between full power and zero power.
Do you know anyone in the SF Bay Area who services their own sales? I have so far had no luck in finding a seller who also does their own service in my market...
Thorough information but I'm not sure you addressed the emf radiation that comes from induction cooking. If money was no object the radiation alone from induction would be a deal breaker. You speak about safety in very precise terms but you've overlooked the obvious here.
Tks for the pros & cons 👍
Great job on the webinar. I believe that consumer product education is the best way to help customers.
Thanks for producing all this great content! It really sets Yale apart
Many thanks

I agree...its good for small cooking. It cant boil a big pot of water.
Whydidnttheyaskevans,
What brand is the $100.00 110V induction cooktop and where did you buy it ?
You also mention LG studio, is the non studio good?

We've loved Bosch induction ranges- they only use a 40-amp circuit.
we have a 36 inch Bosch cooktop. It required 50 amp service

Yes they are
Any recommendations relating to GE Monogram induction cooktop vs. these other brands you mention in the webinar?
Just started selling it to be honest. Monogram emulates Cafe to some degree in some built ins. But I can look

All the induction models have the same or similar glass

We have cooked on the Freedom. I don't think you should be worried
You mean you’ve cooked 3-4 pans simultaneously? As in 1 large and 3 small dishes. I guess I’m concerned is 30A enough.
How to stir fry on induction. My wok does not sit directly on surface.
Use a Trivet......
Anything you recommend for 2500 and less? Or should I wait and spend more? Also, thank you for the video
LG on sale. Frigidaire is not bad
I have 36 inch gas countertop right now and I am shopping for a replacement, is the electrical out need to be upgraded?
Yes.....depending on the cooktop, but you will need 240 Volts and 20-30 amps

Friedmans? University? Howards? I really dont know the dealers out there
Why no Samsung feedback? They have a ton of models, and you could probably buy 2-3 for the price of one of the other brands and readily available.
No comment.....
@@YaleAppliance1 Well that's not very helpful. LG is mentioned and typically use older generation, less quality parts

Not in the blog. I would not recommend induction with a pacemaker. Your phone has EMF, BTW.
How does the recently passed government 840 dollar rebate for electric stove work? I believe it has to be an induction top to qualify.
Not easy is it? On my list of things to do.
Thank you! Very helpful. God bless you!
