    16 years later and still incredible to see this. They did such a wonderful job with this series.

      No, 20 years. I was watching it in 2004 when I had just moved to Chiang Mai, used to rent it on VCD on my way home to the Montford Moo Baan. A quick Google search tells us it began in 1999, 24 years before your post. It's terrible that Google has a 'monopoly' but even terribler that no one ever uses Google. 🖋

    Guys, this week is the 25th anniversary of the West Wing - I’m watching it roommate and love how magical this behind the scenes is, the thought behind this show - wow

    Having toured the real West Wing a couple times while the series was on, this was really cool to watch to get a better feel for the set design and the artistic license they took with some of the set pieces.

    Thank you tons for this. I wish they went into a little bit more detail. Like the residence and stuff like that, but I appreciate this a lot. Loved how they made the cameraperson do a walk and talk with them.

    TWW had the best set ever. Even POTUS Clinton visited and said TWW was better than the actual WEST WING. :)

    • @AnneLiesveld
      @AnneLiesveld 10 лет назад

      Well no duh that is because they have infinity money and no rules how the 'west wing' is supposed to act. I bet Martin Sheen thought he was a pretty spectacular president based on the fact that he repeated lines correctly even as Bill Clinton and George Bush and JFK had to actually KNOW the lines

    • @Mozart1220
      @Mozart1220 8 лет назад +16

      +Anne Liesveld Bush BLEW lines in more ways than one. Martin Sheen was BORN to play President Bartlett. Stop being a hater.

    The Warner "back lot" tour* (iirc) shows a *tiny* bit of TWW set - nothing anywhere close to this.
    * Highly recommended 😁

    WAY COOL SETS-! It's amazing how people think Films & TV is just shot as-is ...
    ... and there's no such things as C-Stands, High Rollers, Grip Equipment, Sound Carts, etc., etc., that must be forever jockeyed this way and that once the Director says, "OK, Got it. New Deal ... we're looking this way and we're moving on 4 sections of curved track ... and ... and ......."
    Many thanks for this little slice of what it takes to make a show look interesting and still remain tru-ish to the real deal locales.

    SO GLAD I have this series on DVD so I can still watch it anytime I want! I know it's 'currently' on Netflix but they change their programing from time to time so you never know when they'll replace it with something else, that's why we bought the DVD set of 'The Wonder Years', it was on Netflix but they replaced it so now the only way I can see it is to pop in the DVD... Who's to say they won't decide to replace West Wing one of these fine days with something else? I hope they won't but you just never know.

    What a beautiful job they did on creating & building these 2 sets! Magnificent!! JFK didn’t have that panel on, because I did a report on how he spent time w/his family & JFK, JR would play underneath that desk while his father was also sitting at his desk.

    • @tadtranclere3729
      @tadtranclere3729 4 года назад

      I know I’m two years late, but there’s literally a picture you can go look at with JFK sitting at the desk and the panel on the desk. The panel opens and closes which is how the kid could play down there despite the panel existing. You can see it’s open in the picture which they mention in this clip.

    What a brilliant set for a brilliant show that made everyone in the world want for a moment to have President Bartlet as their leader. They should have shown Trump how to be President, but the story lines are just to complicated for his tiny brain to understand.

    Argh! Point the camera at the stuff we haven't already seen before, and quit cutting to clips from the show that we *have* already seen before. I don't need you to keep pointing the camera at the people talking... show me the set! Show me what it looks like from an angle they'd never be able to use on the show. The person talking is so not the most interesting visual available to this camera-person. Let them talk narrate, but point the camera up at the ceiling that isn't there. Walk *into* the closet in Leo's office, instead of panning to it, and then cutting to some clip from the show for just long enough to miss the interesting prop storage they've got hiding in there. Show me around the room while he's talking. A static medium shot of a guy talking is so dull when there's so much enticing stuff to see just out of frame! So frustrating to watch things pitched as "tours" that don't show you anything behind-the-scenes-y.

      lekoman yet it does, it's not google maps, it's an in overview of the set, but it has to be concise and it gives you what the set is in relation to the actual white house.
