I enjoy your content. That is a good comparison. Going from San Diego to TJ is a good example of high prices vs low prices. When I lived in Cali we often went to TJ to buy things.
Sounds like the top-down control of every tiny thing and classic paranoia of the Party have kneecapped HK. Beijing let their ego and need for absolute power and control get in the way of a hell of an opportunity. They could have had a massive money-maker in HK as it was, but they screwed themselves. Very sad for the people of HK to see it go this way. You're right about groceries and gas in the States. We just drove my big V-8 RAM truck to the grocery store. Over $200 for the two of us and our dog. And the truck requires mid-grade (add 20-40 cents per gallon) and only gets about 16 miles per gallon around town. Good thing we don't make many trips. Best of luck on your cataract surgery. We've talked about before and I'm looking at having to do it in a few years. Take care.
You're absolutely right on absolute control. Sometimes I think to myself when you can't beat them why not partner with them. Today the stock market went down another 4%. And we are hearing about the central government injecting money into the economy. It's all too late for my own personal opinion. This period of time talking about Hong Kong can be quite tricky. I have to be careful what I say. You don't want to break those glass hearts out there ! Well be heading back home soon and looking forward to get my light adjustable lens. Again thanks for being awesome.
Just a serious question. Why is it always loud when there is Chinese? Loud speakers 🔊 people talk loud, constant loud traffic. People always in your face and it is so suffocating. Hk is expensive because everything is linked to the high cost of real estate. It’s your hk government own doing this because they’ve keep the high cost of living so high so everything is good expensive.
I’d normally would say you’re a racist for stating what you’ve mentioned. However after my trip to Hong Kong I would not call you a racist but you’re stating facts. OMG is that place really loud and it’s relentlessly loud and over crowded HK.
When you travel to mainland China, they will be twice as loud. Cellphone blasting videos. Funny they like talking on speakerphone as loud as possible. Actually I'd joined there conversation and it was hilarious to see their reaction ! Should have caught it in my videos. Culture revolution did it
@@BrownEyein all honesty I’ve been to both HK and mainland China and it’s all the same to me in annoyances. But I’ll definitely say Hong Kongers have a serious bad attitude service problem. No smiling and just a bad aura vibe about them. It’s so bad that your HK government recently has tv 📺 commercials telling a hkers to go the extra mile in service and to smile. The reason why I originally mentioned Hong Kong is because your video is about HK.
I don’t see any difference between Hong Kong and mainland China in behaviour. The reason why I originally mentioned hk is because your video is about HK. To me they’re all the same and I’ve been to both places.
currently i'm staying in japan, going to the japanese language school and there are 4 hong-kongers in my classroom alone and over 20 in school in total. everyone has left hong-kong because "the china is asphyxiating it, the old hong-kong is no more" (their words, not my) and no one has any intention of going back to the hong-kong ever again. The age range of those exiles is mostly in mid 20's, but there are a few 30+ and 40+ people as well. And i just have to say that most of them are great people, they can speak english and I really get along with them very well. Hong-kongers are cool, too bad China is suffocating this great city :(
When you leave the common Chinese people alone, you get Hong Kong in 1980s / 90s - free, prosperous, incredibly energetic. I remember those days in HK, it has mostly faded these days.
@@BrownEye I want to ask you so many things but you probably can't answer. For example are some people really starving to (anti-alive) in China due to unemployment.
Believe me after the lie flat moment now the young kids has kind of lost all hope. You can find lots of information on X. Kids in China rather stay home and do house chores so they can live at home and get a handsome salary from the family. They don't believe in the 996 system in China anymore. This has failed them completely. The latest blow for them is the government promise to inject a lot of money on the economy so all these kids flock to buy stocks. After the national day on the 8th of October the stock market crashed lots of them became penniness. There are too many vlogs on WeChat which the government can't spend enough time censoring it.
Lots of good valid points. Didn't realize it was gone this far.
Thanks for watching.
Sad what's happened to HK, London has lots of new HK residents now.👍
Yeah, I know quite a few a feeling home sick. Hope they will adapt and respect local culture.
Interesting, did not know this about HK
