Why isn't there an oil pan gasket made for the steel pan? Since the RTV/Silicon/Whatever wants to leak over time?
I wanted one until I watched this video thanks! 😂
Thank you, keep these type of videos up!
More of it!

Golf 10 will have plastic cams, pistons and crankshaft. The amount of plastic used to make EA888 is appalling.
You’d be surprised the Toyota Camrys engine has more plastic.
It's the norm across most manufacturers today... VAG isn't the only one lol
Sure. Bmw not, right?

I want to purchase polo car. Which engine i choose sir pl tell me. Saw ur all vedios. Best vedio.
Invaluable info!!
Got new VW Tiguan 2020 and noticed my car is being low on the oil. Took it two times to a dealership and they told me it is not leaking and that lose of oil is acceptable. It even says so in the manual, I just can’t believe that lose of oil (being that is small) it is still acceptable with EA888 engine.
All engine consumes oil. Only excessive oil use is bad
Watching a video like this makes me feel squeamish about my 2017 S3 with 60K Miles...
As long as you don't run it ragged you should be fine. Keep up with maintenance and have a full check every couple of years if you drive a lot.
Wow! Thanks for that in depth review I’m contemplating purchasing a 2016 Golf R. Is there anything specific to that model in Europe I need to be weary of?
Recently noticed engine oil around Plastic oil pan of my 1.8T gen 3.
Dealer cleaned area and will check it again in 2 weeks. They think the oil coming from top of engine ! Car under warranty. No low oil level.
What it can be ? Thanks
Awesome video! These timing cover issues are the same on the Gen1 with all the leaking. Would you consider making a video of water pump replacement?

I need some info & help RE; 2016 polo 1.8 gti tsi bluemotion 192hp DAJA.
I have noticed a very small amount of engine oil on the spark plug thread on the last cylinder (air filter side), i believe that the leak is coming from the valve cover seal around that spark plug& dripping onto the nut of the spark plug , i think that when i removed that plug the oil dripped down the crush washer onto the thread ? The actual spark gap is normal & dry.
So i now need to reseal the valve cover but there is a lot of hoses , valves etc to move so i can lift the valve cover out, i cant find any vids on how to do this on this engine , im no stranger to doing valve cover gasket relpacements but this one has made me think twice about doing it myself , i need as much info & help with this as possible , am i over thinking this task or is it a relatively easy task??
Normally a valve cover gasket job is a easy & straight forward proccess, obviously my engine is chain driven but will i mess the timing up when i remove the valve cover ? I dont want to undo anything that i dont need to undo or remove ,i just want to do the easiest straight forward way to do this . Tools are not an issue as i have the relevant tools needed .
Thanks in advance
If you or anyone has done this proceedure on the same engine ir has found a tutorial vid of it on this engine please can you let me know it will be very much appreciated , my email address is Sentinal123p@gmail.com

Yes it will.

Ive got a gen 3 apart right now for a water pump ,and the intake is off.
Its not too bad in the ports, its not great either.
Its got 91k, whats typical mileage before needing an intake clean?
Hello, the question is whether the intake manifold flaps must be blocked before installation?

My reliable vehicle is a 21 year old Toyota Tacoma V6 and then my Mk7.5 GTI is brand new. I get to spend years with it before things break lol (or at least break under warranty).
One way to let your timing chains last is don't follow VW's extended oil change interval. Get that crap drained out of your engine at 3k-5k miles and change it with whatever oil spec VW wants.
Edit: Yeah I commented before he said 5,000 miles lol.
I did 3k on my MK4 GLS and 5k on my 2.5 SE. I was generally a quarter bottle low with the MK6 each time. Wasn't too concerned.
I do every 3k miles, and when I am done I pour the oil all over bald eagle nests in the forest.
Thank you for this video. It’s very informative.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Can you please make video of coolant change and transmission oil change on Jetta 1.8tsi?
You’ll do coolant change when you do water pump.

Is it normal on a 2017 Jetta GLI to have oil residue/seepage on the intake coupler that hooks up to the intake side of the turbo? The dealership did overfill my oil during my last service.
This makes me wonder if the EA113 motor is better. I'm looking at getting a Golf R. I know the cam follower has issues. But I know there is a fix for it as well
Does these issues also address the gen 3b “miller cycle” engine?
Great video, how long would it take in useage before these "leaks" start? Just ordered a Mk 8 Golf R and concerned.
Mk8’s have e888 gen 4 not the gen 3 motor found in mk7’s it’s possible they updated the design
What about Gen4? Any reliability improvements?
What about the catalytic converter? At 100 000kms my catalytic converter got clogged. Replacing it would have costed over $2k so I decided to decat it.

My VW mechanic said those new aftermarket rear main seals look fancy but they are garbage. He had pissed off customers that got it done at other shops come to him and the 10 or so installs he did himself all failed so he had to redo them with OEM ones which cost him a lot of time and money. I would stay away from these aftermarket rear main seals. FYI
I believe Gen 3 version has a PORT fuel rail aside with the direct injection. Is it still there the carbon build up problem?
Nope.. I've cjeb engine but got carbon flush anyway.. Not a lot came out. Better set up in euro engine

What is the most reliable Jetta engine? I’m looking to get into a Jetta from 2014-2018
The 2.5 5cyl is a work horse and can get 300k easily with proper maintenance. Its not the fastest or the best mod friendly engine but its good. Just keep in mind that any engine will treat you right if you treat it right.
@@SlowBoiGang which would you deem the easiest to work on? I love being hands on and I always fix everything myself as much as I can. I’d like to do some simple modifications but I’m looking for one that’s the easiest to work on and will get the best gas mileage.
@@tylercorbiere1713 I've had the 2.0(non turbo), 2.5 5cyl and the 2.0T. All three have been pretty easy to work on so if you had to choose I'd also factor in your goals. Do you want performance or just a car to go from A to B.
@@SlowBoiGang I’m not really looking for performance. I’d probably put a new intake, bov(if turbocharged), better intake manifold possibly and the rest would mostly just be aesthetics, maybe new exhaust tips and a little bit more aggressive muffler. I’d like features such as sunroof, push start, command start(I could install it), and Apple car play. I’ve always driven a manual but I’ve been considering getting a auto for my daily and building something else as a project. Biggest goal is to remove the thought of “what’s going to go wrong next” as I have a Mercedes c230 06 currently.
@@tylercorbiere1713 you should look for a used Jetta GLI then. Very mod friendly, the 2.0T is great. The sedan is nice over the GTI hatch in my opinion. You can make a solid 300hp and still get great mpgs in a comfortable ride thats good for cruising.
Very helpful!
Are you talking about the 2.0L turbo engines?
We sure are, specifically the 2.0 TSI/TSFI turbo engines.
Direct injection - the most efficient way of converting fuel and motor oil to carbon.

I wish the 87-octane cross shoppers would grow up so VW could justify giving US customers better parts. Take DI+Port Injection as an example. US doesn't get it.

Has anyone had a problem with rough idling when just sitting park? I had my check engine light come and it said I had misfires in cylinder 1,2 and 4. Does this problem sound similar to anyone else’s?
My mk6.5 1.8t has rough idle on cold starts, which diminishes in sport mode or after driving for a bit. Pulled code P0441 - EVAP system, incorrect flow detected. Also had misfires like you're saying, and camshaft over-advanced. Fuel trim went up to 32% at some points while revving in park. I don't wanna throw parts and time at it so I'm gonna take it to a shop. Engine power seems fine, pulls well on the freeway but the engine bucks so hard on cold starts.
Watching this video is just so depressing for me as a Mk7R owner...
Makes me want to sell my car😅
