It's likely to make it 100% compatible with the original Pico 1, even at the cost of USB-c because it means people dont have to buy new parts or modify existing projects.
@@VibesInMotion basically school project: LED panel clocks for each classroom. Each clock is 32x16 white LED panel. And each panel is driven by RPI Pico W. There are almost 40 classrooms in my school and each one have one panel.
Oh look at al those pins... In all my projects have at best only used just a few such as I2C & ADC. Have you considered making a smaller footprint PICO?
The ARM cores keep it a universal chip. It's simply the upgrade for the RP2040 with more RAM, a little more speed, another PIO, and optionally more I/O at 20% lower power consumption, but as the CPU on the die is relatively small compared to the memory area, there's real estate to include the Hazard3 cores as well. The RISCV side can take advantage of the existing toolchain by just piggybacking off the ARM side. It's rather brilliant.
Now we need a Pico 3 to occupy all that FREE real-estate on the board. Wi-Fi anyone? 😉 Presumably, Shenzhen is in overdrive with their uses for the RP2350. 😅
I have read the blog, and I have seen a (cursory) mention of rust there. But this is RUclips, and comment is on the video, which (from memory) doesn't mention rust at all? So, for the video I think it's a valid comment. In general, anything RPi can do to make rust easier to get started with is appreciated.
I can hardly believe that the Raspberry Foundation is releasing the Pico 2 without WiFi and without Bluetooth. 😔So it is of no interest to me at all, I would rather wait for a successor model that offers these features.
risc V AND arm flavors? nice aproach, even better if it comes to rasp pi 6... but i have my doubts since rasp foundation is broadcom partner... not wanting to start a geopolitical long discussion here lol (go make your own comments with long discussions)
a new processor, higher clock speed, a higher SRAM, flash and more state machines for just an extra dollar, thats really cool
I agree
Computing for everyone
Never touched RISC-V before. Great opportunity to finally try it out!
Huge upgrade, and the ADC is finally usable too now! Love it!
Respectfully, where's the USB-C?
It's likely to make it 100% compatible with the original Pico 1, even at the cost of USB-c because it means people dont have to buy new parts or modify existing projects.
In the raspberry pico compatibility.
(And later in third party designs)
@@daklhs6460 Gotta make the cutover at some point. I'm already at the point where micro USB cables are getting a bit scarce around the house.
Yes! Yes! Yes! I'm crying now!!! I was expecting for these all these years!!!! THANKS, THANKS, THANKS!!!!
I made project that uses almost 40 RPi Picos, so I am excited for Pico 2!
What does your project do?
Almost? 37, 38, 39?

SHOW ME
Going to read the specs right now on Raspberry Pi website!!! Gold medal for Pico 2!!!
Raspberry Pis are Goated. They are the reason why I got into programing. I will defiantly buy a Pico 2!
Good luck in programming!
I really like microcontrollers
First time getting more than 10 likes
Me too
Very exited. I'll order one ASAP
waiting for zero 3w
Rust coming as well. Ordered three
cool, can't wait for it
As I checked there is no WiFi on Pico 2. Will you make 2W version? when?
Well that's one way to convince us to play with RISC-V. Congratulations.
The pi pico is an amazing uC. Cant wait to get my hands on the pico 2 !
Yay! I Cannot wait wifi and bluetooth features with pi pico 2 W
I love raspberry pi ❤️
love YOU
I was literally talking with my masters thesis supervisor about RISC-V and the RPi Pico a couple hours ago AHAHHAHA
I'm also using Raspberry Pi Pico 1 in my current Master's thesis.
Oh look at al those pins... In all my projects have at best only used just a few such as I2C & ADC. Have you considered making a smaller footprint PICO?
I just bought 2 pi picos and 4 xiao rp2040s. Ugh, but also exciting!
Yoooo we got a new pi pico
Make a usb-c version!
Most 3rd party RP2350 boards do.
Why?
any reason for mixing arm and risc-v ? I love riscv32 due to simplicity. thanks for great microcontroller again, your software ecosystem is best
Not stated, but dropping the Arm cores would kill the product where we are now, so it's nice they added the risc cores to play with at all.

can the risc-v and arm cores run simultaneously? and what's the cycles per watt on each of those core types?
RISC-V yay 👏
The RP2040 is highly overclockable, which allows things like DVI output. Does the same hold for the RP2350 as well ?
What does it mean exactly switching between arm and riscv?
yay
Is it still as easy to brick as the original?
Now we need a Pico 3 to occupy all that FREE real-estate on the board. Wi-Fi anyone? 😉 Presumably, Shenzhen is in overdrive with their uses for the RP2350. 😅
Pico 2W should come out soonish
Very cool 😎
I wonder if this beauty will be fast enough to replace the GP2040 as the choice of embedded hardware for game controllers.
Also: how fast is the RISC-V compared with the ARM cores, and how customizable is the RISC-V side of things?
Has the problem with the crystal oscillator glitching the analog input been fixed?
why not just release a W version as well?
i need to make a gameboy out of this (plz make a kit raspberry pi if u see this!!!!!!!)
There is
But gba
Can you not put price in the youtube title? Suppliers cannot use this video on page to sell your product because you state the price in USD.
Programmable in Rust too
Is there some deep sleep example code available?
Can it run a 3d printer using klipper
Why no multi-ISA cores?
when you run the same microPytheon/C++ Code on the ARM side and then on the RISC-V side which one is faster and which one is draws less power?
Aaand...any RPi Pico 2 W ?
yepee
Risc-V? Is this perhaps a sign for things to come :3 I know its a bit of a stretch but I want a Risc-V Pi 6.
2GB Pi 5 and Zero 2W when?
Keep up with our blog where we announce all these things. 2GB is out now
@@raspberrypi I heard about the 2GB Pi 5, you officially own my wallet now 😇.
Why not bring back the Raspberry Pi A Series? 🤑🤑
or update zero line...
I'd like to see that say "Programmable in C, Python and rust" and rust get more love from RPi...
If you kept up with our blog...

this is very cool, but it’s a pity that this model came out a year later
wooohoooo
Can we get a slimmer version of the Zero1?
Maybe i can create a modchip for ps2
Reminds me an awful lot of the milk-v duo s 🤔
RISC is cool, but its not usb-c in 2024 cool. Please move on to usb-c!
rust sdk support when. not safe until its properly supported

Sit tight!
Only worth it's value when it includes wifi...
LEGEN....wait for it...DARY
Sorry, but micro-USB makes this a flat out "no" from me. Charge double for a USB-C version, and I'm in.
pimoroni got it covered
I'm the first viewer of this video can I get one Raspberry Pi Pico 2 for free please ?
