How Megan Thee Stallion got her name:

Hey everyone! My apologies for all of the noise around the 1:15 min mark. As soon as I hit record, the wind and wildlife goes crazy 🤦🏽♀.
I never understood calling women “stallions” when a stallion is a MALE horse.
A castrated male horse on top of that!
@@thebrotherhoodofsleep9857 No, the opposite. A stallion is an uncastrated adult male horse. A castrated horse is called a "gelding."
It's a Southern term. It was used to describe women because of the way a stallion moves and sways and how it's built. There are other masculine words used to describe women over the years and it's not offensive. Women are routinely called "handsome" when describing their features. Does it mean we're calling them masculine? No person in their right mind would think so.
So sometimes words are penned and used artistically, not literally. No need to get offended over something many people see as completely normal. And women I have been around love/d being called "stallions" because they know exactly what you're referring to. Call them a mare and see what happens...lol
But there is no more masculine demographic of women though 🤔.
So, it kinda makes sense.
@@wizmanballin8498 Calling a woman "handsome" does have a particular nuance, though. A "handsome" woman is not "pretty" or "beautiful" or "gorgeous." A "handsome" woman is no better than appealing visually but has some other qualities such as grace. Older women who were "pretty" when they were girls and "beautiful" as young women are often called "handsome" when elderly if they aged well.
As women we must choose to protect and monitor the way that we are presented to the world. We must take back the Divine ownership of our self-presentation to the world and be honest and accept ourselves.
We must actively be present in how we represent ourselves to the world in love, compassion and how we conduct ourselves. We have the capability to do it!
I truly appreciate the hope in your comments. I'm sure I could use more hope. When I turn on the radio and television, it is often disheartening.
@@nnekaonyilofor I know it's not easy finding hope in today's world, but I do my best to find hope in myself, in good conversations like the ones you share on your page, and in the world around me. We just have to take it one day at a time 🙏🏾
This Goes all the way back to Mitzrayim(Egypt) Their dieties or neters are often times half human and half animal
Hi Nneka. Thank you for this much-needed thought piece. But you've GOT to do better about not posting outside if the sound quality is compromised. I'm a radio DJ in D.C. and wanted so much to play your clip on my radio broadcast, but the noise/music was too much. Sorry our millions listeners had to miss your piece.
Fair point and I receive your feedback. Thank you for the consideration. There are apps to help with the noise. I am still learning!
As you think it so shall you act on it. Thoughts like mist, and water vapors rain into your mind manifest into words and like a spell you then act on it. Words matter. Choose wisely.
Is calling us black people similar to women being referred to as things? Does melanin have brown pigmentation or black pigmentation? Do people possess skin tones from very dark brown to very light brown, depending upon the amount of melanin in our skin?
Historically, black Americans embraced the term black.
@@nnekaonyilofor historically, we have embraced many terms ie African, Afro American, n-word, colored, Negro, black, black American and African American to name a few. Should we cease using the misnomer of black, red, white, yellow people? Who started this misnomer? WHY? Do these skin tones exist? Must we reexamine the usage of this misnomer?
Remember, when you do not know your history you are doomed to repeat it.
Facts!
Which is yet another reason why the African American woman is not for me.
If you wanna be a Minstrel show good for you. Far be it from me to tell a woman what to do with her body but understand that the kind of women you champion and celebrate is how you're gonna be viewed as a collective
And it's gonna come a time you're gonna be wanted to be taken seriously and viewed for something other than your body and you will be reminded that that was all you showed you had to offer and that is what's impigned in our memory
Facts!
A stallion is also a male horse as well 🤔
Which is appropriate in her case… ㋡
@knowEgo No it is not, her body is natural because she works out.
Those geese need to be quiet. 😂😂😂😂😂
I would like to offer a gentle suggestion. We must stop assigning to ourselves words such as "tragedy", "victim", and even "stallion". We must be words over ourselves and actually trust and know that those words are forming who we are and how the world sees us. We are loved, we are healthy, we are resilient, we are deserving. Beautiful words manifest beautiful outcomes! We can find hope to get to the place of healing we all deserve❤
I grew up and currently live in Texas. For context, it was considered a flex for girls in high school to be able to attract older men. The other side to this is I've seen many women (primarily single moms) who will indoctrinate their daughters by living vicariously through them; many times if the girls bodies develop more, they will cosign wearing skimpy clothes and outfits.
To tie into the subject of this video, the reason why the origins of how Black women's bodies have been the subject of scrutiny is because there's is a level of accountability in knowing history (which is why many try to deny it). To add to your point about Sara, there were actual policies in what is now known as New Orleans (I also have a small Creole side of the family through my maternal great grandparents side, also for context) that prevented black women from wearing certain dresses and even showing their hair because White women thought that it was seducing their husbands. Notice that the only black women who are shown to be in shape are usually ratchet performing women while in white society, those women are viewed as the ideal women.
In my personal opinion, black womens bodies are so unique that every other race has tried to emulate the same type of body they themselves have shamed black women for having naturally (the irony).
Very good points made as usual!
The power of women's bodies since time immemorial.
The power of human body, women just typically show case it.
Happy Mother's day 💐
Great video !!!! We need to learn our history so we don’t repeat it !!!! Thanks for sharing !!!!
I don’t believe BW bodies have become a tragedy I believe the behaviors and self disrespect has become the BW tragedy!
To my knowledge Megan has not had any surgeries to her body so she’s not the best example to highlight! Although I don’t agree with her referring to herself as a Stallion I think she uses it because it’s a great stage name….considering it’s Rap Music.
Respect and Character is important
A Woman is A Mare!
Stallion in the south just means a tall thickly built woman.
Black people and horses have a lot in common 😢

@@bigcohiba298 Very good point.
I like the correlation of the stallion and being looked at as an animal. In the commercial she did for the Olympics, she was even making horse sounds.
Wow. That’s crazy! You are one of few people who understand my point here. 🙏🏾
If we are being honest men normal name women after animals "Stallion", "heffa",
"bytch", "sow", "chick" and "fish".
It's not that serious
And of those, only "chick" is not considered offensive (usually).
@Skinny.pretty.girl101 As I said, "usually." To you , it is. But I've seen women use it without intending offense. OTOH, the other words are almost always offensive.
