    Umbria has one of the best regional bus systems in Italy. You do not need to rent a car. We traveled from Perugia to Gubbio, Panciale, Assisi and others easily.
    Sadly, only Citta di Castello is difficult - better from Arezzo.
    Rail to Spoleto or Spello is great.

    Forgot to comment on this one, and I'm not even sure I watched it before going to Perugia this past summer. The Rocca Paolina (and its history, especially) is crazy as hell, and very interesting. The Etruscan well, just off Piazza IV November, is a fascinating piece of engineering and Perugia, as a whole, is a gem. Riding the fully automated Mini Metro from the stazione and up to the centro storico is both funny and convenient. All in all, a trip to Umbria is not complete unless one stays in this beautiful city. In the «not too big, not too small» and the «I can't believe I've never heard of this place before» category, it is on par with Mantova. We always felt safe and welcome by the amazing italian people.

    • @StillWanderer
      @StillWanderer  2 года назад

      Oh my Hugo... you just commented on this video and... I went back to when I filmed it... SO long ago... I almost forgot about this one... I re-watched it and memories came back... I should visit back again, perhaps at dusk I was thinking... there's so much still to be seen there... time flies... literally. At least, memories can come back.
      Mantova is a must for sure.. maybe maybe in Spring.. "Buon weekend amico mio"

    Thanks for a long walk in one of my favourite towns :-)
    If I may recommend something for future recordings: perhaps show less of the pavement, more of the top of the buildings; sometimes it would be nice to turn around and look back; when some pedestrians are crossing the camera, you could turn to some motif in order not to have the people in front of the camera for so long. I know it's hard to follow the street and the picture in the camera at the same time, but perhaps with peripheral view it would be possible to estimate when someone is coming across and what could be shot instead, so a long shot of them could be avoided. For example 1:21:47 - the lady in pink walks in front of you for more than one minute.

    • @cioccolateriaveneziana
      @cioccolateriaveneziana 3 года назад +1

      Also, sometimes when you walk straight ahead, you could shoot what's sideways, not just ahead of you, like when you come from the viewpoint in 1:08:35 or when you pass that church in 1:24:40. Please don't mind me saying.

    • @StillWanderer
      @StillWanderer  3 года назад

      Thanks for the good cioccolateria! Indeed, some upward views could be taken for sure. On more recent videos , Especially in ting towns, I try to slow more. Great suggestions though, I'll try better 🙌

    Your entire series is breathtakingly wonderful to see. As you ascend those long winding steps (begin 29:26) I am wondering: Do you use a steady cam? Your ascent is so beautifully fluid.

      Thank You Noe, I'm so happy to read such a comment! This is what I truly wanted ; to hope somebody really joined walking in the same places I like to wander around. And from different countries so far away, this is unbelievable to read. THANK you really su much for this.
      As for walking; I use a long rod especially made for the Osmo Pocket (bought it in amazon 1 year ago), but I tild often the osmo at like 70° degress agle, almost pointing forward , when I walk in straight lanes; this helps smooth the walk a lot I found out after trial and error; also, I try to move my arm accordingly. It's a little tiring sometimes; the results are good in straight walking, a little less when climbing and descending ladders unfortunately.
      If you search "ninja walk" in youtube there are soe quite usueful videos on how to make it!

    • @rr7firefly
      @rr7firefly 4 года назад +1

      @@StillWanderer Thank you for that technical info. I will look into it further. I want to tell you that one of the reasons that I enjoy looking at your videos (besides basic escapism to these places) is seeing the organic continuity of old Italian cities and towns. The Italians, like most Europeans, have an innate sense of proportion and composition. It is evident at every turn. A "simple" street can reveal an architectural landmark unexpectedly as the walk brings us to a point of punctuation in the urban setting. Camillo Sitte was fascinated with these phenomena and left us with measured documentation.

    • @StillWanderer
      @StillWanderer  4 года назад

      @@rr7firefly I agre with you Noe, about the architectural marvels found in places where one could with difficulty find them , but that sometimes can casually appear in unexpected place. The sense of proportions is , I agree wihh you, present in astonishing ways and it's probably rooted in since childhood . I'm very glad people can appreciate it. Usually I get really fascinateed by the little marvels, mostly unknown, found in towns which are a little unknown but that, once discovered, are usually astonishing for their architecture. I remember finding out about a fountain made by Bernini in a town almost no other tourists go. This really astonishes me all the time

    Hi my name is Carmen, I am from Quito - Ecuador -Southamerica. I think that your videos of your walking tours are amazing. But on the last ones you don't inform the names of the streets, the name of the places, the names of the churches, you used to put a small explanation of the history. I really would like that you include that information again. Many thanks
