Hi from São Paulo, Brazil! Thanks a lot for the great work you've been doing! I've been practicing the exercises daily. After trying other RUclips coaches, I have to say you're the one who seems to be the most serious about actually teaching, rather than just promote paid products! I really appreciate it!
Thank you for this! I usually go for the more exciting runs and trills but need the discipline of messa di voce , especially after being sick with a cough. This is s medicine I needed to take -and repeat!
Have a beautiful Christmas!
Thank you for that Sister M Joan! Yes, messa di voce does take patience and discipline, but it's so worth it! Feel better! Thanks for being here!
Jeff
Same here Sister! Great gentle vocal exercise in recovery from being sick. Thanks Jeff! Difficult journey getting back to vocal “fitness” after virus and bronchitis.
Thank you Jeff
Without any further ado at 2:09😉 Thanks Jeff! 🐯

These are so so helpful ! Thank you Jeff
I love the way you play the scales on the piano in a musical way that makes warm ups more enjoyable! It makes me feel connected to the exercise much better!
Glad you enjoy it!
HI Jeff, really enjoyed this one and yes adding time really helps with the exercise, happy holidays and thanks
Awesome vocal exercise as always,
Jeff!
Soo helpful, thank you!😃❤🌈
Currently at the University of Texas preparing for and audition! Thank you for your dedication. I have been warming up with you since 2019.
Best of luck to you! Thanks for watching!
Merci pour vos vidéos 🙂
Very helpful and great to make me practice everyday 👍
De rien! Thanks for watching and enjoy the channel! Keep practicing!
I like the way you play the piano and this was helpful
Thank you so much for that! I appreciate it! Thanks for subscribing!
Your Welcome
Hello Jeff
3:26 through 3:36 in one breath and the volume changes softly without cracking, weird noise or subtle pitch change. Looks easy, but it's not! You need a great control of your air pressure, air release rate, vocal cords, and more. I have not tried yet, but I don't expect to get a result even close to that.
I can picture this segment as an exercise to do many times throughout the day while you're cleaning, cooking, etc. until you do it without thinking too much about it.
Well said! You are right on the mark. It's not an exercise we ever really outgrow! Thanks for being here! Thanks for subscribing!
Jeff
Another good warmup video. I enjoy the different exercises. But I do have a question related to when you work with a client. On a video you pretty much move seamlessly from one vowel to another in a set with occasional pauses when you move into the upper register. Thus passes some 15-20 minutes or so. What about doing more than one video or repeating a video either for warmup or for specific problem areas when you use the warmup as a development exercise? Do you pause when switching videos or strategies and if so, how much? Time to think or discuss the purpose of the exercise or just a brief rest? Imagine it's different in a lesson as opposed to individual practice between lessons.
Awesome question! Thank you so much for that! I'll talk about this in Questions from Comments 42!
From Philippines
Greetings from California!
I’m having trouble towards the end still need breath management
Hi Jeff. Killer Video. One of the things I wanted to work on is consonant urgency. Not loudness or belting. An example might be something like musical theater. "Oklahoma or Grease or the intro to the show Green Acres" or even the Killers where Brandon Flowers says "You had a boyfriend that looked like a girlfriend that I had in February of last year its not confidential I've got potential.." Adding to my skill set, tonal onset confidence in these types of more urgent situations. Where (again not talking dynamics or belting) you go from quiet to urgent very quickly. Could you direct me to a video on your channel that might help? Best A.Jay
Great question - I think I understand what you're asking about, and I'm going to talk about this in Questions from Comments 42. If I understand you correctly, my answer is a bit more nuanced than just directing you to a video. That being said, you can use some of my practices after I've talked about this.
Best!
Jeff
@@JeffRolka oh man so great. I tried something today. A long scale video ascending and descending, applying "peter piper picked"😆( hahaha I literally just laughed out loud typing that ) to each piano key as an experiment. Looking forward to your thoughts.
What happened on AY at 7:19?
A little too soft on the attack there!
