I owned a 2019 civic type r and I bought it brand new and I loved it so much, I know the FL5 got 9 more hp and a little faster than my FK8, but the body style of the FK8 looks way better, also speaking about the front wheel drive of the civic type r, when you drive it you can't tell that's a front wheel drive car, the way the car handled and corner so perfect.
Within 2 days of buying my FL5 I had it PPF’ed and ceramic coated. I owned 2.0 a cord that was riddled with rock chips because I do the majority of my commute to work on the highway.
Stop with the 911 comparison. It’s not close as a comparison. The CTR is good for what it is, but at the end of the day, it’s a Civic 2.0T FWD platform, meaning, its base spec for a “sports” car…
Agreed Elias! I do love the ability to throttle steer as well. I am going to reduce the rear toe-in a bit to make this a little easier to induce. Not in love with the data sharing and would like to know how to remove the SIM card. I understand that the maps are onboard so the SIM is not need for map downloads like Google Maps and such. Free lunch for a hint!
The main reason they want your data is so that they find something to turn down your warranty claim if you’re complaining about a catastrophic failure and blame you for it. Also so they can tattle to insurance and raise your rates. Idk if Honda is going as far as telling insurance, but they certainly are keeping track of your driving habits to cover their end. I’m still looking for a way to turn off the data sharing in my DE5, but I’m unable to. Keep getting a “connect to wifi to turn this off” error and there’s no wifi to turn on 🤷🏻♂️
I replaced my FL5 Type R for a Green G80 M3 earlier this year. Granted it's double the cost it's double the car it's so damn good. The R was more playful low speed and lighter of course only things you could ever miss. I don't miss that 4 cylinder at all though. Not a fan of boosted small displacement here in Flordia you can feel the heat soak fast!!! That engine is so basic for a car praised so high imo
The m3 is not even close to double the car, lol. Only double the price. Type r competes with m3 on track and is just as if not more functional. More reliable, better resale value, gas mileage, and reliability. Way easier to work on, too.
I did, but the FK8 was never that great at long highway commutes, it’s more at home on local roads and tighter city streets. With the FL5 being a more refined drive, the daily commute and long highway trips have greatly improved, so it highlights the deficiency of the small gas tank
@FlyinGato whats the point to complain multiple times about the gas tank size? You could easy figure out what the fuel tank size, gas mileage and range is before you pulled the trigger on that car. If you live that rural it is your problem... You mentioned to add sound deadending material adds weight to the car and luxury isolated feeling is against the nature of the Type R. You choosed that car instead another F150 with extra large fuel tank in your town.
No, the Corvette will win in a straight line, every time. Where the Type R shines, though, is being more fun to throw around, while holding up better to the track abuse.
@@FlyinGato what do you mean by track abuse? Isn't the c6 more build for the track? Because I watch your video on how it was built and you said it was made with all the special parts and so on, so I am not sure about how the type R is better.
@andyy6481 specifically the engine in the Z06 compared to the 4 cylinder in the Type R, the k series engine is known to take hundreds of thousands of abject abuse and be fine, while the exotically built Z06 engine is fragile in comparison. Also, tires, brakes and spare parts (and spare engines) are much cheaper in the Type R, lending itself to be more “robust” in long term track usage
Hope you got rid of your phone and your bank accounts too cause they selling your info lol. Complaining about the gas tank too? And you got a rock chip? sucks but you'll get those on every car. Dude i had a rock super crack my windshield like week 2 and I didn't cry about Honda. PPF it and/or accept that your car will slowly erode into oblivion.

Fl5 looks way better
You can't tell its a FWD when driving it..?
@eWok313 yes, honda engineered the ctr in a way where the car doesn't feel fwd
@@ThuCao-c1c fk8 looked like a 7 year old's hotwheel. lol

The handling is so good in the Type R. As for the internal sim, I’ll find it one of these days…

Why didn't you ppf the front? Thats what I'm doing and ceramic coating the rest.
Did you receive steering recall
I got it yesterday, working on the video

Honda eats BMW for lunch. Better overall in every category..... but keep drinking 'Euro' Kool-Aid.
Good luck with them shop bills. BMW is junk after warranty ends. 😂
Don't listen to these JDM suckbois, they can't stand someone moving on from a Honda which is just another basic economy car brand anyways
I can agree the engine has no character just a corporate 4 cylinder not anything special

isn't your c6 a better 911 killer?
It is, 2 seater vs 2 seater, Corvette Z06 is the killer. If I had to pick one of the three, the Type R wins

Selling your data is a huge NO imho. It's pure greed that they use that as a commodity.
Peace 👍💪✌
I use my mud guards, the ones you had on your FK8. It's been holding up well, our B roads are clean but nature things ...
