I think Arizona and other locations close to international borders tend to have more unsolved missing person cases because it's so hard to track cases that cross borders. Even US state lines complicate everything.

With all the odd letters and phone calls that his family received, I don't think I would have answered the door either if I wasn't sure who was there. It could have been a rouse to get into the house for nefarious purposes.

If the perpetrator had a job, he'd work day shift most likely, possibly nights, off on Wednesdays or summers entirely like teachers. He could be related to the church? Did Grandma Ruthie take him to his baseball games? The perpetrator could've spotted him there. IDK..but it seems he knew the routine of Debbie & Myron walking to Grandma's. It's interesting that the laundry bag was never found. Likely a person in a car abducted him or he was invited in a neighbor's house. Did Ruthie have anyone do work for her? Mowing lawns or delivering groceries? Did any neighbors get a new patio, deck, or flower bed around that time? hmmm this one is a brainscratcher.

I envision this neighborhood as a somewhat low income area..one of those older neighborhoods where commercial and residential buildings are mixed in..people that walk everywhere or take buses rather than own/drive cars. Everybody knows everybody and people gossip. I think the person that abducted him watches the family and those that loved him and taunts them so he can relive the moment. I think he still lives in that neighborhood and Myron could even be there. He may have a family and seem like a normal guy..kids of his own..probably put them up to calling Myron's family. I think the letters are from him too. This TX drug cartel stuff is a bunch of crap to make people think it's someone far away, when he's really close and he's creating his fictitious idea of what he imagines "bad guys" to be..Mexican drug cartels from TX..and he purposely calls Myron, BYRON to again..distance himself..he damn well knows the name. He's doing whatever he can to lead people in a different direction, but he's local and maybe participated in the search for Myron.

I don't know whether the mom knew more, but the idea that her story "didn't make sense" is wild to me. I have a 13 year old, and I can see myself doing exactly the same thing. We're walking back from laundry, it's hot, I don't want to spend my money on a drink because I have stuff I'd rather spend it on (bills, my own self care stuff, whatever). I just want to go someplace where I can fold my stuff and/or generally be Done With Laundry. (Having relied on laundromats for laundry for several years, it's an endurance test that you just want to be OVER every time.) My 13 year-old, on the other hand, has his own money and loves to spend it whenever he can. He's young and has energy to burn, but is also old enough that I don't have to watch him like a hawk anymore and will be responsible with the bags he has. Maybe I'm even thinking that it would be good for him to have a couple minutes of freedom and independence to help build him up. We're a couple of minutes away from someplace I can just finally sit and be Done With Laundry so I don't want to delay, but at his age he should be safe walking a couple of blocks on his own. I can completely see the mom saying "Sure, go get a drink, I'm going to start folding/putting away/zoning out in front of the TV to become slightly more human again, see you in a couple minutes." All of that sounds stupid when the result is your kid disappearing, but it's a perfectly logical series of thoughts when you're in the thick of it.
The fact that she passed her polygraph and people still want to shovel crap on her makes me sad. The perfect mom doesn't exist, but society will still victim-blame you if your moment of humanity turns into a tragedy that no one could have predicted. It doesn't escape my notice, either, that she's Black and is almost certainly getting blowback from that. Again, I don't know if she knew more, but saying that her thought process was illogical is pretty clearly coming from a place of privilege and/or having never had a teenager.

I would suggest, that his mother did a drug deal during he was in the restaurant. I don´t think her boyfriend is guilty, because if he stayed calm, nobody would know, that he saw the boy. And he had no reason to kill him. The more plausible theory is, that his mother owed some money for drugs and either sold the boy or the dealers took revenge for killing him. Very heartbreaking! I´m very sorry for his aunt, who seems to be the only person who cares.

I don't think the mother was involved or knew something because the boy was obviously loved and looked after. He sounds like he is brought up without getting into trouble, he was reliable, polite, did well in school...unless she thought it could be her ex-boyfriend and was afraid to say so to the cops. Sadly, she died probably young and without finding her son. The whole thing is so frustrating and enough room to have been lots of misplaced guilty feelings to go around.
Such a well-done video, thank you gabulosiss!

Oh my God I’m only part of the way through the story and I don’t know who did it but I don’t think it suspicious that she kept walking and he stopped to get a drink big deal… I can only imagine what it would be like to be in her she is if she was innocent. I don’t think that’s a weird thing to do at all unless your kid disappears but I could imagine doing something like that and if the cops treated me like that I would get so annoyed like “I don’t know I just kept walking because I had stuff to do and he was going to get a drink I didn’t see the need to escort him back”. And you seem to be doing the same thing when you’re talking about it but like you said… It was hot out maybe she didn’t want to stay outside and wait she wanted to get into the air conditioning or whatever maybe she didn’t wanna waste money on a drink when she just wanted some ice water and wanted to get inside… There’s a ton of reasons. She may be guilty I haven’t finished the story, BUT That part of the story is not suspicious unless she was changing it or something

It makes me so angry when cops say that crappy "it's not important enough" line to the parents! As if the parent would not know their child better than anyone else! When a parent tells you this is unusual, something isn't right, BELIEVE THEM! It's also not true that you have to wait 24 or 48 hours before filing a report, you can file one as soon as you realize someone is missing. The cops show their laziness and lack of care everytime they say "oh they're probably just hanging out with their friends" or something to that effect, that statement makes my blood boil! Oh no, copper, you will get off your ass and help find my kid!

Dont presume to know what my child is or isn't doing, I said he's missing, idc if it's only been 2 hours, file the damn report, and get a move on! Do you need donuts to get you going? Ughhh makes me so mad!

This is an unsolved missing person case where I genuinely believe that the victim is alive somewhere. If its just prank callers, why would they contact the grandparents, the best friend, and the aunt instead of the mom? How would they know about the living situation with the aunt? It sounds to me like maybe Myron was trying to contact his family through other unknown individuals as a way to not get caught, or maybe other people were trying to help Myron get into contact with his family but didnt want to blow their cover, so they avoided his mom. Thats my theory at least.

As a 90s kid myself, I don't feel it's fair to cynically interrogate the mom over the fact that she left Myron to buy his own drink at the restaurant and walk the remaining 5 minutes to his grandparents. 5 minutes is a short walk for a teenager and all kids/teens were basically left to their own devices in this way in the 90s and earlier decades before the more helicopter style of parenting took hold in North America. This wasn't even an unfamiliar setting to Myron - he knew the route extremely well and so would not have gotten confused/lost on the way. My parents gave me money to walk 20min to the corner store to pick up milk in the 90s, it was a commonplace thing to give your kids some freedom like this. What is odd is how his mother seemingly gave up on searching attempts so quickly. As a mom, I would stop at nothing to find my child if they were missing, and would be 100% involved in keeping the case going. This is what makes me suspicious about her knowing things that she never admitted to, not because she left him to walk 5min to his grandparents house.

I agree with you whole heartedly. In the 90’s upstate NY I used to walk an hour home from high school. I now live in a country where my 11-year olds bike 10 minutes to a store with friends to return some empty soda bottles for money with which they buy candy 😂 But I would never stop looking for my kid if he went missing. I think I’d feel guilty even sleeping in my warm bed not knowing where he was. I think I’d go mad actually…

I grew up more in the early 2000s than the 90s even (mid 90s baby) and I was allowed to roam around basically unsupervised, I had to be home on time and once I got a cell I had to answer any time my dad called, but that was about it. But he was a firefighter so he did 24hr shifts too, I was left to my own devices a lot lol

The police view on the mom is odd. I take the aunts concerns more seriously, although I think we've seen a lot of cases where a mom wasn't involved but stayed with the man everyone thought was with a child disappearance. Either way, the insistence she had to have been involved because she left her teenager to get his own drink on a hot day is weird to me. My mom did that sort of thing all the time when J was a teenager. It was hot, so she'd go home. I'd want something, so I'd get it and follow her. That seems completely normal to me. If he had been 7 years old, no. But a teenager? Absolutely.

Defnitely not odd. My mom was overprotective but even she started doing stuff like that with me at that age. Thats the age kids usually start getting a bit of freedom and doing stuff like that on their own. Also maybe the mom just didn't like/want any of the drinks available at that place or didn't want to spend the money when she was so close to home (would be the case with my mom) and she just wanted to hurry up and get there to get her own drink. He was old enough for her to make that decision.

The mom not being so involved as time went on isn´t so suprising. I imagine as time draggedon and her son didn´t show up, depressions set in. Many who have problems with drugs have huge issues dealing with strong emotions like that, and my guess is she fell back into the abyss trying to deaden the pain. It doesn´t mean she was involved in his being gone, but she most likely already had a bad conscience, and the authorities hacking at her for letting a teenager who already knew the area stop in to get a drink of soda at a place he knew and knew him by sight close to his grandparent´s home, might just have pushed her over. "taken something to calm her before she took the polygraph" my fanny mae! My heart breaks for her and for Myron´s friend and loved ones. may they find peace in his memory.

I suspect Geddis Smitts (not sure of spelling) just wanted the good Christian boy Myron to stay out of the way, or get out of the way. He may have seen Myron exiting the restaurant and on impulse offered a ride, and Myron accepted. Geddis may have had bad intent all along - or maybe not intially, but a fierce argument could have erupted in the car. It is likely Myron did not survive that night. The letter writer in Texas could be a prison buddy of Geddis, or an "outside woman," doing Geddis a favor by trying to deflect attention away from him and toward the known Mexican Mafia members from the neighborhood. The phone calls could have been the buddy/outside woman and/or their associates, checking out Geddis' story to see if Geddis was lying to them or not, before getting involved further. My thought is Geddis never wrote anything down - the letter writer probably got information by listening to Geddis. The writer misheard the rather uncommon name "Myron" as "Byron" (just as I do not know if I got "Geddis" right from listening to this video). More usual names like Ruthie and Sandra and street named Pecan are easy to follow in spoken conversation. (I hope I am wrong.)

Surely some of us remember when missing children pictures were on the milk carton. Why isn't more attention being drawn to these cases of missing children. From your video, I hear you saying Myron was not from this area, his mother was. Myron & his mother had a regular routine every single day. If someone were watching them, they would know exactly where they were & how to grab Myron. The one group of people, other than his mother & grandparents, that he saw every day, was the church group. It would be easy to be part of this church, be someone that Myron & the rest of his family knew an an acquaintance, where he would feel comfortable enough in greeting along a street and stop to talk to, without feeling as if he were in danger. Had the police looked into anyone within the church community that they felt was a little odd? To me, it would make sense that someone in the community, that didn't know the family too well, that is still in the community, that would still hear updates from time-to-time, would be part of this church group. I feel it's worth checking out.

I’m not saying that the mum didn’t have a part in his disappearance because I have no idea. However I don’t find it odd that a 13 year old could walk a few minutes on his own. That said I don’t know the area. Certainly here in the UK it would not be odd for a 13 year old to venture to the shop on their own. I do find it very suspicious that the mother’s boyfriend was the supposed last person to see him.

Can you do the case of Gregory Villemin? He was a 4 yr old french boy murdered in 1984. His murder is still unsolved. He was abducted from his home and killed 4km away and the case was a media mess in France for decades due to anonymous threatening calls to the family for years before the murder. It’s a truly interesting case and it’s heartbreaking that ‘Little Gregory’ as he’s called by the media never got justice. Please and thank you

This is weird. Why was there so much suspicion around the mother allowing her son to grab a drink and catch up later when she literally allowed him to take public transportation alone to go to bible study? It seems like she allowed him independence and that isn’t suspicious to me.
It also isn’t suspicious to me that she stopped talking with her family and police after they were clearly insistent about her being involved.
Not saying she is or isn’t involved, but its absolutely plausible for someone to retreat after being accused or suspected of something they didn’t do.

There are no coincidences in crime ... I'm betting the boyfriend who said he was across the street when he saw Myron go into the restaurant to buy a cold drink is responsible for his disappearance and death ...Myron may have seen him too maybe the boy went with willingly since he knew him. Something is up with that connection. Hopefully police haven't given up the case.
