The Adidas X line has been super popular amongst amateurs and professionals for quite some time now, but for 2023, they've introduced another option! Instead of simply choosing between a laced and laceless version of effectively the same boots, you now have the option of an ultralight version, which also happens to be the most expensive of the new CrazyFast line up. But why don't pro footballers wear them?
In today's video we compare the Adidas X Crazyfast.1 and Crazyfast+, two football boots that might seem pretty similar, and in a lot of ways they are, but with one of them being overwhelmingly preferred amongst pro footballers! Why is that? We discuss what makes them different, why pros are often choosing the cheaper model and which one of these two "speed" boots might be best for you! Which one would you pick?

I got a little theory, that goes along with the professional familiarity point. A one piece upper with a stretchy knitted toungue is inherently compressive. Even without tightening the laces. My old man who still plays in his 50s, 2 years ago I gifted him an MIJ Neo 3 Beta to replace his older Nike Premier 2s. He would comment that he doesn't need to tighten the laces as hard, and finds it very comfortable having less lace bite. He was pretty old school when it comes to boots, but he told me the Neo 3 Beta was the best pair of boots he's ever had. Knowing the end of his playing days are coming near. He would later go out and get a Legend 9 Elite and surprisingly a Vapor 15 Elite wanting to try more modern boots. These are one piece tongues and again he would tell me the doesn't need to tighten his laces as hard. Now back to my point. Depending on one's foot shape or volume. The stretchy one piece uppers have that extra bit on compression around the midfoot. Some people like my dad don't need to tighten the laces as hard, thus improving comfort even if it is slightly. Like Josh mentions comfort is subjective.
I never really noticed that for me personally. I just put on the boots and adjust the laces to my liking. It's almost subconscious to me, since I've been wearing one piece upper since the Vapor X and Superfly 4 days. One piece uppers have been norm for almost a decade now. I have had plenty of U-throat tongue boots before Vapors 7, 8, and 9. Mizuno Alpha Elite, Morelia II MIJ, Copa Mundial. And I did go a buy the Crazyfast+ in it's $300 (plus tax and shipping) glory. It's nice to see a traditional tongue and they feel great to. I can really get the upper to hug my arch the way I like to. But I am a boot nerd, not a professional footballer out there in the Premier League or La Liga. They know what's best for them, and yeah I do see more .1s than I do +s.

Joshua, could you make a review of the Puma King Pro? Are they as close to the top tier as the Future Z or the Tiempo Legend 10? I want to try the new Puma King but they don’t make the elite in MG
How would the Adidas X 19.1 compare to this new Xs? What are the main improvements?
Will they last more than 5 months? Very disappointed in Adidas lately, delaminating and separating in 4 to 5 months is unacceptable for a $200+ boot.

I do think both are great in their own ways and if price is not the reason,I go with the crazyfast+ given I do love going back to a stand alone U throat tongue along with wearing something I used to wear back in the day with the late 2012 or early 2014 generations of the f50 adizeros

Anyone know exactly how often adidas will release more Crazyfast+ models? They’ve only released them twice so far, but not for every color way.

If you are okay with not having the newest thing out there then go with the previous gen X, X SpeedPortal.1. They are great.

Saw a really good close up of Messi's .1s. The upper is a different material. Quite thick. Guess he prefers protection over style.

I was a huge fan of the Adidas x17+ purespeed, have not found a boot which is similar in 7 years, any recommendations? from this video it seems the purespeed+ is the better option for me
i have the same feeling, but i try the mizuno alpha be very similar to that and maybe better 😅
I feel that they are just getting paid to wear the .1, very simply 🤷🏻♂️ Adidas knows they will sell more .1s than +s so they have their athletes wear the cheaper option

But pros don't get to choose what boots they wear. Adidas chooses what silo to put them in. Correct me if im wrong though.
how wide is the craztfast + vs the phantom gx ? and will the aroplate be good on ag ?
I’ve tried both, and I would say the crazyfast+ gives you a more custom fit due to the tongue. I’ve missed boots having a tongue because it allows us wide footed players to be able to wear speed boots. Although, the phantom gx is a good boot for wide footed players also.

@@midlandjustin1 I have a wide foot also but I prefer the build of the Crazyfast+ although I think the Phantom GX seems naturally wider. However, I think after the break-in period, the Crazyfast+ will adjust to the width of my foot

Why no one talk about Adidas increased the price of Pred+ to 300$
$300 is way too high for the plus model, the Mercurial at 250 is a better boot and cheaper
The issue I have with these new adidas modern boots is that they don't fit snug to your foot. The new synthetic uppers field awkward on foot. When I previously owned the leather F50 boots, they felt part of my foot every time I wore them to play. When I tried these new boots, they just sit on my foot, rather than feeling like part of my foot. Not to mention the space gaps in the toe area and on the sides. It has a very plastic feel, and since I'm a fan of speed and comfort, I can't see myself buying the COPAs but I wouldn't spend $260+ on the crazyfasts either.
They need to revive the F50 series ASAP… genuinely hate the fact I had to switch to new balance cause the mercs don’t even get on my foot, and I hate the predator series… smh
My issue with Adidas is just how horrible the color ways are...I have $230 gift card the has been waiting for a decent color way.

I’ve watched a lot of matches and I’ve seen a lot going for the crazyfast+ instead of the .1
That's interesting, because I mostly noticed the .1 instead of the + and was pretty surprised by it.
Maybe the pros are finally getting comfortable with being able to wear something they used to wear and want to wear something that they used to wear back in the days
