After years of winter camping I would always have a full set of merino wool thermals available. Remember that an easy way to be a lot warmer quickly indoors is to put on a hat, woolly hat, beanie or balaclava. Thick thermal socks can also help. A whole set for two people ( hat, long sleeve top, leggings, socks and gloves) fits into a shoe box size container. It is always there and inside the van with normal clothes even without heating you will be comfortable to very low temperatures and safe to quite extreme temperatures for the uk. There are different grades of thermals remember to get ones appropriate to extremes at your location. A full set will cost between £60-£500 depending on quality and rating. A set of merino wool if you watch for sales around £200 upwards (watch for the mix some are only 10%).

We have a topper which goes over the whole pop top. Keeps the sides of the van nice and dry and makes the inside warmer. Also have an outside Rainbow thermal screen which we use all year. Duvet and throws for sleeping and bed socks to keep feet warm. We put the heater on 3 for about 20 minutes then turn it off when we go to bed. If we sleep downstairs the dog keeps us warm too 🐕‍🦺🥵

Thanks chris, we are now in berlin for a holliday, its raining and cold, coming days freezing at night. We use a calicap cover for the outside and the isotop from Brandrup for the inside, they are perfect. We have the cupboards open and use the petrol heater in combi with a ecomat electrical heater.

To help with condensation, I use a little USB fan, the dehumidifier pillows, and crack a window for a little bit of ventilation. Otherwise, fully insulate all windows and have a warm sleeping bag. Camping most weeks, year round in Switzerland. Any better condensation tips would be great, still losing the fight 😉

Condensation is inevitable but what we do is when we get it we use a Karcher window vac to remove it then empty it outside the van, if you wipe it with a cloth you’re only keeping the moisture in the van only to condense again ! 👍🏻🇬🇧

We have an electric throw that use when on electric hook up. It’s a game changer

Rainbow screen pop top cover works well, sleeping bag & merino thermal s with socks all cosy. Heater for 30 - 40 mins before bedding down. Always up top. 😅

The isotop was a game changer for us. However, for a van that costs a significant sum, it's disappointing that decent insulation isn't fitted to the top as standard in the factory.

Isotop for the interior of the pop top, Rainbow screens on the exterior of the windscreen and back window. Duvalays for sleeping 😊

The heater controls should be next to your bed, to adjust them at night, not having to get out of bed and walk to the cab to adjust the controls, like in a California. Bad design I am afraid !
