- This is the E3 trailer for the original BF1942, as such it features more actual gameplay from first person than the other BF1942 trailers. It's not as exciting but it has very good music.

This was by far the best multiplayer experience i've ever had, this is the standard i compare my online games to.
I can remember... I waited for about 8 months after watching the first trailer till this game finally hit the stores... a fucking revolution! Played it for over 2 years. JUST THIS GAME! ;) Great stuff, dice.
Dude, you possibly cant let bf1942 slip out of your hands. It's a goddamn classic, the best multiplayer FPS ever made, and forever will be.
I'd say Wolfenstein 3d did that trick 10 years earlier.
However, this game was pretty revolutionary for its time. The emphasis on team work rather than the "one for all, all for me" mantra of previous online shooters was rudiment to the evolution of the FPS genre.
Can't wait for BF1943!

Best Battlefield by far! Content, mods and dedicated servers! Screw you EA with your micro transactions, day one DLC, season passes and crappy online services (not to forget DRM and loss of services after a few years).
bf1942 is STILL the best online shooter... so epic, so fun, so atmospheric, and it has so many players.
It's cool to look to look at side by side comparisons of this and BFBC2. While the graphics aren't nearly as impressive, it looks like the core game formula of amazing online and lots of vehicles + infantry hasn't changed.

I love battlefield 1942 a looot, but Forgotten hope mod is EPIC as the best game to ever have existed.
I prefer a good game with bad graphics, rather than a bad game with good graphics.
And this is a good game.
@TheMastroAntonio yes, red orchestra 2 will innovate and bring new stuff to the PC FPS genre.
the up arrow will bring the door down in the landing craft, and the down arrow brings it back up.

That is great. Once again a matter of opinion. When I get a better PC I might do more gaming on my that. For now next gen consoles is what i play video games on.

@gastonave Yeah, they need planes and artillary for their new games and remake 1942 with the BC2 engine. BF1943 will be released on PC sometime soon. They are already remaking vietnam.

@Dogswithguns four reasons why you didn't:
1. no widescreen support (image is stretched in todays monitors)
2. Sounds were ruined in 1.3 patch
3. you didn't enable 16x AF in driver control panel
4. there are no real servers anymore, those 24/7 El Alamein servers... good times, now it's just modded servers and pisshead admins (especially in Desert Combat)

new one will make ur comp explode. but 1942 is bad ass.even on an old comp cuz u can set the graphic levels and stuff..as long as theres a good internet connection ur all good.

That's true, the US does have a long history of butting in on other people's conflicts.
I can see why people would want to play games from WWII (and WWI as well)
but making a game from the Korean War is like make a game of the war in Iraq; pointless.
I'd MUCH rather see somebody make a battlefield game from the first World War, that'd be a hell of a lot greater.

No newest patch is 1.61 to 1.61b, First 1.6 and then 1.61 and then 1.61 to 1.61b, it read in left down corner in menu, if there read 1.6, you got right version.
sadly or not, this game is still the best multiplayer game... i still play with a fukin HD6870..
yes definetly they need elelemane or omaha beach i cant play 1942 on my pc which has vista for whatever reason cus it stops at 40 percent...do you know why?

for 5.99 at some stores around where I live. It's on the ps store now too. I never liked this game though. The gameplay felt very unsophisticated compared to other games at the time.
true mate it runs on like 12 mb of ram it runs realy good on my rubbsih pc with like no lagg!
u can run bf 1942 with a crappy comp (VGA 16mb, 800mhz processor and 128 mb RAM), but u need patch to make ai more cooperative and more realistic sound & weapons, if u want bf 2 u gonna need good comp, VGA card atleast 128 mb and 2ghz Processor, and 512 mb RAM

No not as much as counterstrike. Counterstrike has a crap load of players so of course not, but yes, people still play this game online. I often have absolutely no problem finding a game and when i do it's because it has a high latency for me.
