    It's so really amazing work of reassembled model but sir what's measure of track in mm

    • @karynfelix-the-Cat
      @karynfelix-the-Cat Год назад +1

      The track is also made from wood. Measuring carefully… The inside of the rail to the inside of the opposite rail is roughly 50 mm. The rail itself measures roughly 3.75 mm… The caboose almost fits on a number one gage outdoor G scale track… But not well enough to call it a success. It will scoot nicely on the wooden tracks that comes with it! It’s in a league of its own!

    • @ToyManTelevision
      @ToyManTelevision  Год назад +2

      Hello! I guessed it was a standard gauge 4’ 8.5” (1371.6mm) gauge caboose in 1/2” scale. In other words 1/24 scale. The model track is 50mm. So some quick math: 50x24=1200. Or 171.6mm less than 1371.6mm. 171.6/24=7.15mm. So my guess was pretty close. 1:24 scale standard gauge.

    Karyn, we are “miniaturists.” We love love things in miniature. We build things in miniature. It’s what we do and who we are. Your caboose is marvelous. I, personally, love cabooses, too, especially wood cabooses, with offset cupolas, side door cabooses and drover cabooses.

    • @karynfelix-the-Cat
      @karynfelix-the-Cat Год назад

      I have always loved miniature things since I was a child! I was always on the lookout for tiny dolls and doll house furniture. The first tiny doll that caught my eye was a little plastic baby doll in a buggy for 10 cents on the toy rack at our local grocery store. The doll measured about 2 inches long and had movable arms and legs. Next came the Mattel Kiddle dolls. The teensy Jewelry Kiddles were my favorite! Of course, all of these dolls had to have houses! An old candy box, an old Montgomery Ward catalog, and a good imagination were the tools to create any housing accommodation for my dolls. Even into adulthood, I have been collecting miniatures. I have always loved a caboose! A train car with an "upstairs"! How cool is that?

    • @karynfelix-the-Cat
      @karynfelix-the-Cat Год назад

      If I were to use it in the yard for the garden railroad, it would last about one day... Especially if it were to get damp or wet! Remember... These laser-cut wood models are made from very thin plywood. Many of the parts are held together with white glue. The paint used to cover the caboose is not weatherproof. These are just models. Just like building a model car from a kit. Some models are for display only. I do have a shelf where my caboose will be displayed! As far as paring it with the trains on the layout, it won't look quite right. It's "different"... Thicker rails and squared-off parts would be a giveaway that this is a model. However.... I really love putting these together! Just like any puzzle, challenging and fun! The end result is satisfying!

    You both are a treasure to watch! I don’t really know much about trains other than my grandma retired from Union Pacific. She was able to purchase tickets to ride in either the 844 or the 4014 (she’s 92 now and can’t remember) in the 80’s which started fires on the ride. Another time my brother and I were literally thrown up onto a slowing Kennecott engine near Copperton one Saturday morning for a ride to Arthur by my dad😂 I love cabooses and I watch for the one off Bangerter near I80 every time I drive by. Thanks so much for taking us with you as you fool around ❤️

I was very disappointed when railroad companies decided to stop using cabooses on their trains, plus my wife and I have been together for 47 years and she had a cat when we got married. Since then, we have always had cats. Today we have 7 and they are all spoiled rotten.

      We, too, have a cat! We didn't plan on a cat, but our fur baby chose us! He just showed up one day and refused to leave. He was also very hungry. We have never been able to locate an owner. Even a microchip search has yet to come up with an owner! He has been with us a year and a half. He even picked his name, Charlie. We called him Mr. Kitty at first. We wanted to call him Mr. Cinders... But he didn't like that! I was talking to Dale about a pet guinea pig that my girls had to have years ago... I mentioned his name Charlie, and the cat responded! He came right over and has accepted that name ever since! Having a Shop Cat is now popular! But I will miss seeing Dirt when we visit the Nevada Northern!

    Pretty cool video of this model of the Karyn’s Caboose. I have visited the Skunk Train yesterday in Fort Bragg, California. It wasn’t a very long ride. The tunnel at the Fort Bragg end of the heritage railroad had collapsed 10 years ago in 2013. The conductor mentioned that they are planning on opening the tunnel in the next couple years. So that would mean in 2025 it would be reopened for service when the repairs are done.

I don't think I would do this for the model of the Saturn V rocket carrying Apollo 11, but for some of her other models she adds to or takes away depending on what she wants to do. Karyn, there are no mistakes in modeling. What you have as a is a moment where you as a modeler are challenged to improves , adapt, and overcome the problem. Thanks!! I think Dirt would approve. You will be visiting my old homeland by seeing some of the old Marysvale branch line. The Big Rock Candy Mountain is one of my favorite spots… Lots of memories… I remember going there when I was very young… about 4. We had been camping at Bryce Canyon in my dad’s brand new Ford truck… The whole Highway 89 is quite scenic! I miss seeing the train along side of the highway…. After the Thistle mudslide destroyed the line in 1983, it was discontinued. We did a show about that. Do enjoy your stay!

      I'm really looking forward to seeing the area. I'm planning on hiring a bike and cycling up the canyon, seeing the tunnel, and I think on Google Earth I spotted the remains of a bridge just to the South of Caboose Village. Fun!
      I'm looking forward to it.

I did build an old Pullman Coach on the box of a 1972 Ford pickup truck with curved windows, red curtains with gold tie-backs, an oval window, clerstory windows that actually opened and a small working potbelly stove inside. The wood outer skin was walnut stained mahogany so shiny that you could see your face in it! It was sooo cute but it weighed a thousand pounds! I used the wrong woods to build it! This next one I will build it with Cedar and thin plywood mainframes for strength and lightweighness!! I also have to have Solar panels built-into the roof with clear plastic sheeting over them. Still trying to figure that out how to build it in my head! Part of the roof will have a cupola on it too! Can you imagine what that would look like?!

    I didn't notice the mistake Karyn was referring to until she showed the caboose roof: the ladders to the roof walk are on the same side. My dad is a modeler and is modeling the mid to late 1920's, so I have a good idea how the roof walks on a caboose looks like. However, I thought the end markers second color was white, not green!🤔
    Nice job, though!🤗
    By the way, I think Dirt the Cat has fans world wide! Didn't the Nevada Northern Railroad Museum have visitors from Europe just to come to see Dirt? That cat really put East Ely, Nevada on the map!😺

    • @royreynolds108
      @royreynolds108 Год назад +1

      Marker lights have only one defined designated color--red to the rear. The other colors can be white, green, or yellow; it depends on the railroad. When on the road and a train pulls into a siding and the switch is thrown back to the main, the markers are turned so the red lenses are not to the rear indicating the train is in the clear.

    • @karynfelix-the-Cat
      @karynfelix-the-Cat Год назад

      As long as the red is facing the rear and on the side lamp... for obvious reasons... Yup! The ladder and one side of the roof walk ended up on the wrong side. The instructions make that clear, and I read that right after the glue set! OOOPS!!! So, there it is!

    +ToyMan *What road the Marysvale Branch? Good for a static display, unless ye would run it on the Schitt's Creek:* In that case, remounting the caboose on a steel ladder chassis with ball-bearing trucks is mandatory for practical purposes.

    • @karynfelix-the-Cat
      @karynfelix-the-Cat Год назад +1

      The Marysvale Branch is a historic rail line from the area in Utah where I grew up. The whole line was discontinued in 1983 when the area experienced a large amount of snowfall right up into spring. Then suddenly, the temperatures jumped up into triple digits and the mountain snowpack melted too quickly! The result was massive flooding in the area and the whole side of the mountain near Thistle Utah sliding off. Not only were the train tracks destroyed, but the highway as well! The highway was closed for a very long time. Traffic had to be rerouted around to other roads. The town of Thistle was under water and small homes were destroyed. After a new highway was constructed above the old buried sections of Highway 89 and parts of Highway 6, it was decided to permanently discontinue the Marysvale branch from Spanish Fork Canyon alongside Highway 89 to Marysvale Utah. If you search on Google, The whole story is there, including the history beginning with the San Pete Valley Railway.
      I have had a lot of folks asking me if this model will run on the railroad. The answer is a flat-out No. It is entirely constructed from thin plywood. Think of it as a 3-D puzzle. The whole process starts with assembling the wheel trucks. Each part is dependent on the part preceding it. Each of the wheel trucks fits into the floor and the sides of the caboose fit onto the sides of the floor with small wooden tabs. There are also components attached from underneath the caboose to the floor. In order to make this into a working caboose, one would have to completely undo everything that was assembled, and that would compromise the structural aspects of the model or completely destroy it. Not to mention the work already done to assemble it! Why? If one wants a working caboose that would actually run on a model railroad, the better choice would be to buy a kit just for that! These models are static models with some movable/ working parts. They are a fun stand-alone project in a category all of their own. They are fun to build!
