I remember when I was a kid growing up in SC, I wondered what it would be like to live in the spot in Western NY (on Lake Ontario) that seemed to have snow in the forecast every day in the winter. Wouldn't you know, I accepted a job there as an adult. There were times (Oswego, NY area) when we would get some snow 30 days in a row, or more. You have to embrace the snow and I did enjoy it. The job sucked though and I moved away after spending 4 winters there.
@@NickJohnson I'm in Kentucky. We got 2" of snow back on November 12th. Figures we'd get snow well before thanksgiving, so Christmas will probably be 65 and sunny 😞

There's a good 3 feet or so on the ground here in the U.P. right now. Winter doesn't really start until January though and then it keeps going and going and going... Usually some snow is still on the ground into May and about 5 years ago there were still small ice bergs on Lake Superior at the end of June.

@12:06 - Few people use salt anymore, and steel-studded tires are a vastly superior way of managing winter snow, especially as they also work much better on black ice roads.
Where I live in Colorado, it snows in June every year. Snow on Memorial day is normal. It has snowed in feet many times in May. There was accumulating snow late June this year. A couple of years ago it snowed extra in March and several avalanches closed I 70 and Fremont Pass. It snowed so much that time, they closed the ski areas. We don't get to miss work because of snow. When I moved 30 miles from work, I started calling out during the big storms, not worth it fire me. I drive over a mountain pass. Avalanches swept vehicles off that pass a couple of years ago.
O.K the list is snowiest state not the snowiest portion of a state. For instance the entire state of NH gets more snow as a whole than does Ohio hence the snowiest state list. If it was based on snow in one area than NY would have been much higher if not number one with lake effect and the tug hill area. Ohio gets snow but it's mostly around the lake and as far as Virginia and West Virginia they are not even close to the top ten.

I would think Russia would be ahead of the US as well as a few other countries. The southern US gets very little to no snow each year how could it be 3rd overall?
Russia is cold but not very snowy mist of russia gets about 100cm of snow per year compared to most of canada at about 350cm and hokkaido japan at over 400cm.
They have big mountains and get a wet heavy type of snow. They get a lot of moisture from the ocean that surrounds their island nation. If it's colder, you get less snow. When it is near the freezing point the snow is heavier.
Depends on your location and elevation in theses states. It snows more in West/central Mass because it’s further away from warm ocean air that is piped in by coastal low pressure that turns the snow over to rain often within 25 to 50 miles of the coast. In Vermont the mountain passes above 1500 ft get four times the amount that Burlington or Brattleboro gets. My cabin near Rangeley Maine gets 200 inches and Portland on the coast 75 inches.
Michigan has four of the Great Lakes and awesome inland lakes. Skiing and everything in the winter. Summers are beautiful. So much to do all the time. Hunting in the Fall. Excellent cities, Birmingham, Ann Arbor and Traverse City is in the Northwest. So many places to live outside of the cities. Northeast Michigan is fantastic with lakes and Lake Huron. Michigan has 20% of the fresh water on earth. North of us in Canada has 20% of the worlds fresh water. So 40% of the worlds fresh water is right here. We've had winters that were 70 degrees in December more than once recently.

yeah I when I was in middle school we went on a school field trip to D.C. in late March and 1 inch of snow with like 30 degree weather shut everything down.
Living in the upper peninsula I can definitely say we get a lot of snow. Lots of the time u can't see anything when going anywhere because snow banks are so big
Surprised the north east got so many slots, but I will agree with NY (as I'm sure you heard on the news) we just got buried in snow this past week….and winter hasn’t even started. We also get snow on Halloween. I think it even flurried this yr.
That is average for Michigan. There are many places in upper peninsula that normally get over 200 inches or year. Houghton averages over 220 inches. Benton Harbor (in the lower peninsula) gets more than 70 inches. Even Grand Rapids often averages over 70 inches per year. Sometimes, we'll get half of that in one month.

Pauly P I honestly just want it to be 70 degrees year round. But I doubt I can find that 😂😂

I like nwa (northwest Arkansas). Its in the Ozarks and they do get tornadoes and hail but alot less than surrounding areas because of the higher elevations from the rocks. Usually the tornadoes die down as they reach the ozarks from Oklahoma. Summers are humid but better than the rest of the state. Winters are mild. Thats just 1 idea. Lots of company headquarters like hersey, heinz, jb hunt, walmart, tyson, p&g, etc help the economy there in that part of the state. It is just 1 idea though. Ill be going back there soon to look around 👍
I lived in North Dakota my first 20 years and now Colorado for the last 20. ND gets WAY more snow. Snows in November and stays until April or may. In Colorado we get long breaks of no snow in the winter
I love snowy weather and just let it snow let it snow let it snow
yeah i miss it sometimes.
Your videos are great
Consider sunniest and cloudiest places
I will.
How is there more snow in Japan than in Russia? How is that "average" counted?
not sure i dont count the inches i just report.
I would think Russia would be ahead of the US as well as a few other countries. The southern US gets very little to no snow each year how could it be 3rd overall?
@@dvferyance Don't forget Russia sold Alaska to us! Maybe that's why!
If I was American I would love to live in vermont
Depends on your location and elevation in theses states. It snows more in West/central Mass because it’s further away from warm ocean air that is piped in by coastal low pressure that turns the snow over to rain often within 25 to 50 miles of the coast. In Vermont the mountain passes above 1500 ft get four times the amount that Burlington or Brattleboro gets. My cabin near Rangeley Maine gets 200 inches and Portland on the coast 75 inches.
Grew up in VT, always looked forward to winter snow. It offers a whole new set of activities and challenges. Like driving in snow also.
0:32 😳 that jk is not jk. Here in lebanon at an altitude of 1km we used to get 1.5 meters of snow, now 4 years 0 snow never happened before
Darn Minnesota didn't get on the list it get about 70 inch a year
Hahahahaaa your songs in your videos crack me up 😂😂😂
I live in Minnesota and.....yeah...we get a ton of snow as well.
ive seen it firsthand.
2019 was also the year that the larger compacted snow drifts lasted all the way into April.
0:16 when he says kids don't have to go to school, try living in Wisconsin where you could get 2 feet of snow and still have school. As a northern snow sucks
haha yes. here where i live 2 inches causes the state to close down.
yeah I when I was in middle school we went on a school field trip to D.C. in late March and 1 inch of snow with like 30 degree weather shut everything down.
Same here in Michigan
@@NickJohnson I used to live in Portland Oregon and that's exactly how it is there...
Living in the upper peninsula I can definitely say we get a lot of snow. Lots of the time u can't see anything when going anywhere because snow banks are so big
The UP is on another level
him the kids dont have to go to school on snow days
me in 2020 ; (
Surprised the north east got so many slots, but I will agree with NY (as I'm sure you heard on the news) we just got buried in snow this past week….and winter hasn’t even started.
We also get snow on Halloween. I think it even flurried this yr.
Too early for all that
Oh look, it's snowing again
it might snow tonight :D none of my siblings have school tomorrow so we can have a snowball fight lol
Funny because here in Upstate New York we had 5 foot in one day! Tioga county. We are in the snow belt
You got Mississippi and Alabama switched at 12:03
I ALWAYS DO THAT OMG
You claimed Alabama was the 3rd least snowiest place in the USA BUT YOU HIGHLIGHTED MISSISSIPPI!
And now the south
Love the video! Vermonter here!
Fun! ❄️
Next please do sunniest states if you haven't.
if this does well i just might!
I prefer summer and warmth but it is cool to see the snow too.
At 10:24 the Location was probably in Germany . I could see an Sign imprinted with 'Zone' and a smaller Sign with a bicycle with 'frei' written underneath.
