Have you been enjoying the JAKARTA STREET FOOD series!? Let me know on my Instagram : instagram.com/derpyluke ! We are back in Taiwan filming lots before we head to Japan! Stay tuned for lots of street food videos!
To be fair, the fried rice near my house is way tastier than the fried rice that you tried in this video. It's not the most flavorful one that lamb fried rice.
some other dishes you should try in Jakarta: 1) Sop buntut (oxtail soup) at Hotel Borobudur 2) Konro bakar (BBQ ribs, Makasar style) at Karebosi 3) Gado-gado cemara (Indonesian salad with peanut dressing) I always bring my foreigner friends to those 3 spots and get really positive feedback.
Yes, historians informed Taiwanese migrated to the Philippines then to Indonesia long long time ago. After the fall of Srivijaya Empire many Sumatrans/Kalimantanese migrated to southern Philippines.
Ana its realy all i want , Jakarta is so great , and the people are all so sweet, and the food so delisious , i,m dreaming here . I,m so happy Luke is there Ana
Even for many Indonesians, that mutton/goat fried rice (we call it nasgorkam kebon sirih) IS the best fried rice in the world I live in Jakarta ( kuningan) happy to see you enjoy the city. It is culinary heaven for foodie. Food from all over Indonesia is here. I have lived in greater Jakarta all my life and still there are gooe traditional food restaurants i havent sampled.
Indeed Indonesia HAS BEEN famous as the spice archipelago. The Spice Islands are the Moluccas for exact, in the eastern part between Sulawesi and Papua.
Thank's man for this video...not just for the street food but you just show the world even jakarta's on "may day" is still safe for tourist to exploring the city !
And it will more delicious if you improve red sauce , indonesian people eating the noodle or bakmi with red sauce, its not tomato sauce but the taste is combination chili and tomato
@@LukeMartin i think you are racis luke... Just comment like that from western..directly you responding him... Mostly your subscriber asian ( indonesian ) but you are not fair. Think about that..
Very colorful vedio luke .....the spigetti ice cream and banana split.....yumm....n such a old shop.....1932...wow......nasi gurang the way he made with adding bottle full of soya sos....so tempting......with the only veg option the sour salad.......must have been very tasty.......the satey uncle looked so Happy in making them... God bless... Awaiting your next vedio...
Hey Luke, great video like always. The cracker you're eating with the fried rice is called emping. It's made of melinjo nut seed which is actually bitter and has a texture like jengkol. But once it's made into crackers, it can be salted.
Hey Luke just come across your video and been watching several of them, I don’t know how many times I was salivating throughout your videos, living in the States definitely miss my hometown food, glad you and your girl enjoyed it! Your new subscriber here 👍🏽😊
Maybe next time you can come to my hometown Semarang, Indonesia.. There is lotsssss of amazing and cheap street food here! Hope you enjoy Indonesian food~ Really like your channel, and know that you can speak fluently Chinese, 希望你越来越好, Luke
Mmmmmm.... Everything taste sooooo goood!! I loooove satay!! That taste soo delicious and juicy satay!! Great review!! Enjoy your trip and see u anytime!!
As i know as an Indonesian, Pasar Baru exactly means new market but it's not 'new market' anymore since it was built in 1800s. Enjoy Jakarta and don't forget to try thr traditional Betawinese Food (Betawi is Jakarta's etnic tribe).
If u have a chance to visit Indonesia i suggest u to visit central java (solo city,Semarang city) n Yogyakarta.. I promise that u gonna love that city.. Such a friendly city, many attractive there like culture n historical places, beaches, etc n lovely cheap n tasty food haha..
Visit Jogjakarta to see Borobudur Temple (in Central Java for exact), Prambanan Temple, Ratu Boko palace ruins, Merapi volcano, cave tubing, etc. Better make a prior survey of activities to do there. Jogjakarta and Solo are all about delicious Javanese food (sometimes sweet with palm sugar) and immersion in cultural traditions stretching as far back as around the 6th century!!! For other spicy food adventure head on to Padang, West Sumatra, where the food is influenced by India and Middle Eastern tradition. The one you tasted at Padang Restaurant.
Hiii...Luke.nice to see u n Sabrina again.well m a pure vegetarian but dis food looks v tempting n mouth watering.hope u had a nice time...njoy d food n trip.gud luck
Another supeeeerb video and very local indeed! That nasi goreng kambing is one of my go to every weekend when i living there and it sure one of the better version of nasi goreng in Jakarta(even though they are inconsistent in tastes, sometimes). It seems gross when you see a mountain of rice and those weird mix, but it sure really taste better than it looks!. You both doing good job in exlploring just the way like local did! Waiting for anotheeer local food hunting!
As an Indonesian, I even haven't been there.. lol.. thanks for inspiring me to go there soon.. when u have any reason to go back to Indonesia again, especially Jakarta, I'll take you around its surrounding cities, like Tangerang, Bogor, Depok, Bekasi, and let you taste my wife's hand-made friend rice.. 😊😊
the cracker is called emping Melinjo, it is the Melinjo nuts you have when you cook and eat with a family in Jogjakarta where the vegetables are from their garden with the bitter Papaya flower
My best friends, we wil waiting for you,re new serie,s foodtour !, and abouth Jakarta , this was all so intresting . I,m growing op with Indonesion food , thatswhy.

the chewy candy on the top of ice cream is actually dried papaya, we call it sukade. and the crackers on the top of nasi goreng are made from melinjo nut that taste slightly bitter, you can find it in gado gado as well, and we call it 'emping'
Great video ,you did a good job showing the different foods,I thought some of the food was a little expensive then the normal Jakarta price for street food.,I really liked the noodles,-Bakmi iam going to have to visit that place,Keep up the good work,a little tip,hen you eat anything with peanut sauce ,mixes the sambal in with the sauce its the perfect combination and taste so good, especially with Sate,
The nasi goreng and satay look amazinggggg! But the price is quite pricey for street food though lol. Anyways, good job for both of you. Can't wait for the next video!
Nasi goreng kebon sirih is my all time fave, it’s already there a long long time ago and the taste never change from the time when I still young 27 years ago. At first when I saw you eat the acar (spicy salad) alone without nasi goreng, I just laughed it coz you should eat with nasi, then after that you did it right, and it made the nasi more delicious right? And the price is right, from time to time they had to adjust the price due to the price of ingriedents. Thanks mate!
I love all of your videos and know how to eat popular food and spots like us the average people.. the real food where everyone can afford it whether you are rich or poor. All of your videos are best place for food and cheap too, thanks a lot for showing us all of those places with great affordable foods.
Hi Luke, i've recommended place food to try. It's RM AMPERA where located in Jalan Cikini Raya No.103, Menteng, Central Jakarta. You must try on afternoon, they have Sundanese Cuisine (West Java) many kind of food that you can choose. I hope you enjoy while in Jakarta.
Welcome to Indonesia! Warm greetings from indonesian people here. Have a nice trip and good foods at Indonesia!!! Don't forget to try indomie goreng as well 😊
The crackers that you ate with Nasi Goreng Kebon Sirih was made from Melinjo (The peanut look like thing in Sayur Asam/Sour Soup). The crackers name was Emping.
As you would say :Oh Yeah!" great video. Again great Aerials and a nice reverse video shot was a nice touch. When are you going to release the best of Luke and Sabrina bloopers? 😛 .
