Wow, this guy does not miss, this information is so valuable, you can't find this kind of stuff anywhere! Thank you so much for shedding light on this!! This is honestly the best acting channel on youtube!
I’m still 13 years old and I have a dream of becoming an actor. I was planning on moving to la and going to auditions and your videos is going to help a lot 🤩🤩
Great video! There is an in correction though, you cannot work with B1 visa. B1/B2 visa is for business trips/meetings only. In order to work in the US AND receive payment, you need either F-1 because it comes with CPT and OPT, or H1b or 0-1.
this was a brilliant video. I like it a lot. You selected authentic actors who have struggled to find their way. I find it so interesting that it "takes about 5 years to get comfortable in LA; day job, auditioning, home, life, etc". ( PS; in your description Thomas is Netherland? - he is Danish)
As a European/Mediterranean looking to move to LA next year this video is super helpful. Would be great the get some tips on what drama clubs an older actor (38) could join in LA to start building a network and practice the craft without enrolling in a full time course as working is equally a priority as continuously studying. Thanks again for the content and always look forward to the informative video you post.
Thank you so much for putting out this unique content. It's been truly eye opening this kind of information is not widely available and definitely not at this quality of delivery
I'm from South Africa. And I wanted to do an acting course at NYFA in LA. So I first went for a holiday to check the scene, how expensive would it be to buy food, travel, rent a car, where can I stay, etc. I even stayed in a place available for "long term stay" in Burbank. What I found was it would be too expensive to stay and study - for me. But its good to do an acting course in LA, mix with the crowd etc. and that course looks better on your profile when looking for work in the future, when you have the correct Visa (very important).
Wow reading these comments from foreigners looking to move to LA makes me feel grateful for already being born and raised in California. Good luck to all of you getting citizenship to my country is notoriously hard
Canadian actress trying to move to LA... how am I supposed to get there if I don’t have people offering me jobs or even auditions there . Can I get an agent in LA so I can start auditioning in hopes of booking something ? :/
@@WillyDubz Oh, it´s not -_-" haha I´m sorry. The scene just looks so similar... Btw I played Jonah Hwang in Shameless. Will, thank you very much for doing this kind of content. I just discovered your channel, and as a Mexican actor and singer aspiring to move to L.A. or N.Y., your content gave me such a lot of motivation!
I actually live in the US, California, and want to leave before starting my career. Personally, the cost of living, social climbing variables that make people hard to read, and overall quick pace isn't my thing. I plan on moving to Canada for a more intimate, affordable experience.
@@hinklefamily1831 which province are you located in? I've got plans for british columbia, but I'd like to hear where you find livable/affordable/lively etc. Vancouver is pricey from what I hear, think I might try Kelowna
Hey! I have a HUGE passion for acting, I am now attending an acting school here in Italy, unfortunately our movie industry hasn’t really developed that well, so my biggest dream would be to move to America and become an actress. I guess I’m pretty fluent in English and I have little to no accent, but I am really really scared directors won’t cast me because I’m not American :/
omg im in your same situation but i'm not going to acting school here. in which school are you going? im currently working to pay the american university i want to go to.
Do it for the craft- if you pursue acting for fame, it won’t go or end well. Ever. Doing it for genuine passion for the art significantly reduces disappointment this career will eventually give you. ❤
I'm Japanese and my dream is to be an actress in the US! I'm wondering if I should go university or drama school in the us… Does going to university help me become an actress? If I will work in the us, I must get O-1 visa so I need documents But I heard that it's very difficult to get the visa…
Sammy I have the same goal. Share me ur Instagram. I need to discuss the visa stuff and other things I'm confused. I'm from Asia too and want to go to usa. Join drama school in LA
GREAT VIDEO ❤️ As someone with a South African accent who lives in Canada, do you think it’s better to submit reels in a Canadian accent or just my native accent ? That’s where I struggle :/ I think having my accent is unique but obviously it doesn’t match the Canadian / American market... an agent didn’t sign me solely for my accent so I’m a bit traumatized LOL
I’m pretty sure there are a lot of great roles that you could play as hijabi woman and also you should inform yourself more about the industry as a Muslim - I think you should put your strict rules to the side and be able to act freely because that’s the point of being an actor and you got to remember that you’re ACTING so it has nothing to do with you, your personal life or your personal beliefs. Good luck :)
I think that’s up to you! It’s worth giving some thought to. If you were to change it I would still make sure it’s something that YOU like, because at the end of the day that’s all that really matters.
plz make a video about people who dont have a green card like nowadays getting a green card is like winning a million dollar lottery actually billion specially people from Asia. I am from India and i wanted to become an actor but the hurdles are much more than what any green card holder or any EU citizen face.

If you have an accent, you either will play your own ethnicity or non-speaking roles. I think it's easier for Western Europeans though because they are more relatable to Americans. I was literally told by an agent to drop my accent if I want to be in this industry, the agent who of course wouldn't sign me. I have an eastern European accent and the only roles that may ever use it are either spies, hookers, gold diggers, hitmen, or mad scientists. I don't understand why in an immigrant country that promotes diversity so actively an accent is such a big problem if your speech is clear and understandable.

Do not violate immigration law, you can really burn yourself. Get an agent in Canada and then properly get offered work in the US
