FUN FACT: The standard cab SD70s Air line to the horn was so long that even when the valve is just closed, pressure remains in the line, blowing the horn, kinda quilling it too until it runs out of air
MDSerles The new cast Nathan P5's sound awesome indeed. We have a lot of them in Australia. Do they get many freight trains in California and Nevada with nice sounding new cast Nathan P5's?
That is the sickest crossing ever. Right on a diamond! You can see the signals in both bdirections. I believe one the bells was a Safetran Hybrid mechanical with the double clanking at the end.
No it’s just a manual lever, it takes a few second to open and close causing it to continue blowing air in the horn until the air is completely closed.
That CSX train at Odin should be either Q265 or Q247, both are stl-louisville auto rack trains. There is a Q204 wb autos, and unless it has changed they are the only regular trains, plus occasional extras.
@gregtrain1 Well it's really the only way to blow the horn on these engines. The P5 lags greatly due to an extremely long airline. A standard long-long-short-long is literally impossible.

Which is why it tapers off instead of stopping immediately
Nobody gonna talk about how perfectly timed that horn blast was at 5:54?Right when the nose of that loco popped out from the side of the rail cars. 💯
ahhh the p5s the railfans dreams
Yeah I Always Dream About P5's Too Well Not Only Nathan P5's But Nathan P2's, P3's & P5's Are The Only Horns I Always Dream About😎😎
You should go to the NPR. That’s the only series horn they have on their SD60Fs.
That's one heck of a P5 on 1026!!!
And that is why the Nathan P5 is my favorite horn!

Never. Only on CDTX cabcar 8306 which has a New Cast P3.

That is the sickest crossing ever. Right on a diamond! You can see the signals in both bdirections. I believe one the bells was a Safetran Hybrid mechanical with the double clanking at the end.
Oddly enough, I chased IC 1026 today, except it was trailing behind a CN Dash 9.

@heelblocks I've always wondered that. Almost all IC videos I've seen with horn it's basically one long blast. Thanks for the info!
Awesome shots! Looking forward to more.
SD70 1026 Gotta Be My Favorite SD70 Engine Along With It's Sweet Nathan P5 Horn
Standard SD70's are best, can't stand the wide cabs.
@@gordonvincent731 Indeed
@heelblocks yeah, that was a good catch; I've actually went under a CSX at Greendale twice in the last few months
That echo around 4:13-4:14...WOW! Amazing shots, gotta love that P5!

If Ya'll Wanna Skip The Beginning Of This Video To IC 1026's Nathan P5, Skipping Is Required At 2:19
GREAT video, Andrew!
Nice catches Anderw!
Deafening! Loved it!
Great video . Engineer was way overzealous on the whistle on the IC train.
@IC1034 Thanks Lewis!
@DieselSmoke92 CN 5529 has a solenoid.... almost all of the 1000s have a manual valve.
@SantaFebuff I have a night video from Carbondale, Illinois rendering as we speak. It will be up in an hour or so.

I LOVE DIESEL POWERED FREIGHT TRAINS
2:54 That was a real stupid person at that crossing in that car.
So SD70's have extremely long airlines? So that's why they have "never-ending horns" as my friends and I call them...
Hopefully The CN doesn't decide to Repaint it or scrap it.
Ironically Theirs a ICG Grain hopper at 5:49
in the start of the video is that CR engine repainted
+Joe Dohn ok
Yes
Conrail!
bro the first consist is foam
what camera is this
CONRAIL
I'm pretty sure that's a k5la..
I'm pretty sure you're wrong.
A p5 has more of a squeak when it sounds that's probably an 80's k5la
Sean Lynn no way that's a K5, its a P5 for certain.
Sean Lynn on the csx you mean?
+dtiman i think he means on that csx dash 8
