Soma Enner Synth Tutorial Lesson 1: Overview and Basics

- Опубликовано: 6 сен 2024
- This is a tutorials series for anyone who wants to learn how to use the Soma Labs Enner body patching synthesizer electronic instrument. If I get a response to this series, I will try to break things down into small videos that are easy to mentally digest and apply to your own electronic music. We will be exploring both east coast tonal and west coast avant-garde uses of the synthesizer. The Enner is especially good at ambience, noise, and soundscapes for film music.
This first video will give you an overview of the different sections of the synth and show you some of what's possible to do only using your fingers. Please leave a comment with any questions or requests and a like if this was helpful.

My ENNER,just left Customs in Russia, and I am chomping @The Bit.After Getting 2 Of Every Product SOMA Makes ,except DVINA,And Lyra8 FX,And Waiting For 2 Cosmos Units,I Think They Should Change Their Name From “SOMA’’,To “WAIT”.All Worth Waiting For Of Course.Love The SOMS Approach !!
you'll enjoy this a lot! I live in NYC, so I think I get lucky with shipping from Russia. It's usually only a few days after it clears customs before I receive
Thank you. Enner arrives tomorrow so watching with new interest

That's a great demo. It looks a lot more usable than I was expecting it to. Very tempting indeed.
thanks! I've been enjoying it a lot. It's kind of a perfect weird alternative to the Buchla 208c

Thank you so much. Great walkthrough
this is great thank you!
Great demo - looks like I need an extra pair of hands ;-)
I definitely feel that way sometimes, but other times I enjoy trying to work within the limitation. I need to experiment if coins work on it the same way as the Lyra-8
Wonderful thank you!
I'm happy to help!
@@EthanJamesMusic1 You've really made me want to buy a Soma Enner Synth!!!
Fun synth!
yeah, it does a bit of everything in its own way
¡¡¡Hermoso!!!
gracias!
Thanks for the overview. Fyi Sistor is not dutch, but danish, like me :)
AAAAHHH I'm so sorry. I'm was having trouble with my countries that start with D the day I recorded this.
@@EthanJamesMusic1 noooo problem 😊
How to recognise soma enner V2? Whats the diffriend?
hi
can we synchronize this machine with a pulsar, and other machines with cv/gate midi and other lfo?
hi! you would have to manually sync by ear. There is no CV based sync
Nice. Can I plug a mic directly in or do I need a preamp?
I answered on the other video, but just in case, you would probably need a preamp, because I'm not sure the EXT input has enough gain. I've never tried that, because the internal piezo is so sensitive
@@EthanJamesMusic1 oh, sorry. Right on, thanks.
ehy, cool video! do you know if there's a chance to connect ENNER to an external clock?
There is not unfortunately, but I have good results with doing it by ear.
Is it all analogue, even the delay or with digital elements too? Thank you
we got way in the weeds about this in the comments on one of the other videos, so I actually have an answer for you. The delay is not a completely "analog" bucket brigade. It uses a different chip. It does however, behave like a bucket brigade delay. You can have a listen on a later video to decide if that's a deal breaker
ooo! I found it:
here is the official answer from Soma:
The Enner delay is a PT-2399 based delay with SOMA mods. Very close to Lyra delay but stereo. Though it's not 100% digital as all processing besides sound memory is analog
@EthanJamesMusic1 Thank you. Not a fan of the pt chip. I find it noisy in a fake lo fi way.
That Was The Whole SOMA Approach..Sorry!
