Sunshine Of Your Love
Cream
It's getting near dawn
When lights close their tired eyes
I'll soon be with you my love
To give you my dawn surprise
I'll be with you darling soon
I'll be with you when the stars start falling
I've been waiting so long
To be where I'm going
In the sunshine of your love
I'm with you my love
The lights shining through on you
Yes, I'm with you my love
It's the morning and just we two
I'll stay with you darling now
I'll stay with you till my seas are dried up
I've been waiting so long
To be where I'm going
In the sunshine of your love
I'm with you my love
The lights shining through on you
Yes, I'm with you my love
It's the morning and just we two
I'll stay with you darling now
I'll stay with you till my seas are dried up

Yep, my parents are the same generation as all of you and are the finest people I know. Got to hear some great music growing up!

1969, I'm in the 5th grade, listening to this song and White Room over and over. Man what a super group of all time. 2022 and 65 still as fresh as back in the day!
It's so dirty, but it's so clean as well. It's pure, raw, emotion. I love it. Fits in the era just right.
You are right. So wet and yet so dry at the same time. So wrong but so right. So up but somehow quite down. So far out but simultaneously far in.
You know, this recording is so very clean. You can hear the base, the guitar and, of course drums. You can hear them each distinctly. Ginger was amazing. In this recording, you can hear each wonderful beat, no instrument is drowning out the others. Whoever mixed it knew what they were doing. I just wish this recording wasn't cut short.
That's right . I do not know if you have noticed in any part of the song I do not know exactly voices are heard in the background where they are not singing. They are a bit inaudible but there they are. I've always wondered what they are about.
Yes , a shame its cut short...Ginger Baker's "war drums" at the end are straight out of Africa
So well said
Felix Pappalardi produced this; not sure who the engineer was.

I can’t imagine what impact Cream would have had if they played at Woodstock. It’s still spine tingling listening to these masters 55 years after they tore up the stage for the last time at RAH London. IMO of all their great songs 3 would have blown up the stage and made Woodstocks epic story even more legendary:
1. I feel free
2. Sunshine of your love
3. White Room
I had to come back to this song when I read the news about Ginger Baker... May he rest in peace 🙏
A true rock & roll legend in every sense of the word.

I think I was in 11th grade when this hit the AM airwaves and we were all in utter amazement at how great this, and the stuff that followed, was. I was instantly hooked as an ardent and lifelong uber Cream fan after that.
Hell yeah
That sounds like a fun time. My dad is around your age, he was in 9th grade when this song came out :)
Alex Creed It sure was! After the early British Invasion: Kinks, Animals, Stones, Who etc., the blues got more electrified and heavy and we got stuff like this. Rock music was evolving and exploring different forms and it was a thrill to experience it.

Mike D Oh right cool.
I'm quite convinced. This is the greatest riff in rock music history ever conceived. My whole life I've been listening to rock music. My favourite bands are LZ, BS and DP. All three have some great classic riffs in their repertoire. There are other bands who always knew how to make a great impactful and memorable riff. Like GFRR, Uriah Heep, Jethro Tull. Hell, even The Beatles were not shy in this regard. But I always return to Sunshine of Your Love as the perfect riff. The one riff to rule them all. The tsar-riff of Sunshine of Your Love.
Agree. But I just love the last few outro riffs while fading out.
I agree and have similar tastes myself. I would add UFO and Budgie to your list as well. Glad to see Uriah Heep mentioned here.
Kashmir by Led Zeppelin and Into The Void by Black Sabbath are also some amazing riffs.
Fabulous Group! Jack Bruce had a GREAT voice. Everything about Cream was GREAT.

Eric Clapton - The only man in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame thrice. And one of two guys who made Jimmy Page the third best guitarist in the Yardbirds.
Shame he is a massive racist
A música que fez o Slash fazer a melhor escolha da vida dele .
This song was written by Jack Bruce as a tribute to Jimi Hendrix after Jack Bruce went to one of Jimi's early London shows in January 1967. Eric Clapton then went out and permed his hair like Hendrix, started dressing more flamboyant & psychedelic like Hendrix and while in NYC in May 1967, went to Hendrix guitar guy to get his own copy of all Jimi's guitar pedals and FX.
When they first wrote the song, Ginger Baker didn't drum it this way. He played it more straight forward 4/4. The band wasn't happy with it and an American in the studio suggest he try playing it like the Indian drumming in the old Hollywood Westerns. Emphasize the 1 and 3 beats. Ginger, being the great drummer instantly knew what the guy meant and was able to do it right off. He tried it, it worked, the band loved it and the rest is history.
i can tell. i haven't heard a lot of Jimi Hendrix, but this song definitely sounds inspired by him.
ShaunPhillipsAV This is so freaky that your comment is right at the top. Fun story time.
I'm driving in my work truck and the beginning guitar riff comes into my head and I could not think of the name of the song or artist. So, like any rational person, I call my dad and tell him 'I have a song stuck in my head, and I think it's Jimi Hendrix but I am having a total brain fart. I'll sing the riff and you tell me who it is'.
He recognized it right away and, well, here we are.
Thanks for the background info!

Jack Bruce was too underrated in my opinion - This guy used to eat, drink & breathe music - He was such a genius and a great instrumentalist. RIP
