Absolutely magnificent.
What an opening, with those heavy robotic waves making me feel like there's some colossal machine marching around. And then those wonderfully haunting choirs kick in, and y'all know how I feel about choirs, and I'm just entranced, feeling that heavy base pulsing with the rage of blood-starved machines preparing for a fight. Of course, then you just had to go and add those melodic orchestral bits. Man, simply haunting. Both the orchestral additions and those choirs really gave this song a sad, deeply emotional undertone, like this isn't just another fight for someone; this is a decaying chance for something personal. Makes me think of some of those depressing apocalypse shorts I've seen and watched. Machines battling for human masters that no longer exist. Then things turn again, and those beautiful guitars slam through, and suddenly, I'm inside the mind of a machine, a soldier with the sole purpose to fight, and I feel a rage set in my bones. Interestingly, it seems to come right after this slowed bit, where, in my mind at least, there's a moment of doubt as to whether the machine will fail or not. Things break down for just a moment, but then pick right back up as this inevitable fight must go on.
Really making me feel things that I'm not so sure I want to be feeling right now, guys. Still, a masterfully done piece that I greatly enjoyed listening to.
