Other times when a girl looked like she was interest on me, but, never learned the truth, I just thought what you said and other variants. Like Rupal Dhankhar commented, you can also consider things like it's a bet, a prank or like that man who thought it was a scam and she was going to ask him to pay for the rose. By the way, even if that was just a coincidence, it can make you feel good. From the side of the girls, their first thought in most cases it's what are his intentions with me? If men always showed interest on that girl and she already went through those things, she won't overthink any of it. Once I invited 4 female classmates something to eat, they were thankful, they wanted to do the same for me another day, I couldn't go, me who didn't have any interest on any of them, weeks later, I was just treating them as I would treat a male friend, again I wanted to invite them something, one of them "jumped" and she told me "why are you doing these things??" I just told her "no particular reason", things didn't feel the same and life's gone on.
