The Dell Precision 5480 is a mobile workstation geared to the business clientele. As such, it is expensive but that's to be expected. It is not a consumer based laptop folks. Having said that, it is a beautiful machine with a 470 nits display and a pretty good port selection. The included usb dongle is also welcomed. For a 720p webcam, I was surprised to see how clear it looks. The internal mics are very clear as well. Another plus of this otherwise fine machine is how well the quad speakers stand up to the MacBook Pro's. While the MacBook Pro is still the king when it comes to audio quality, the Dell Precision 5480 sounds very, very good! In conclusion, this is an excellent business geared laptop that should not disappoint. Bravo Andrew!! 👏😁
Looking forward to the review of the Dell Precision 5490 with Intel Ultra 7 + Arc + touch screen. Their current 4TB upgrade is steep, but an aftermarket swap out would be the way to go... even the expensive 8TB are a cheaper upgrade to Dell's 4TB
My dad got me one for Christmas for gaming because long story short he works in information technology, he was supposed to test them out, then send them back, but one of them was missing a WiFi router, so he got to keep it. Then gave it to me

Just ordered a Precision 5480 from Dell's website. But slightly middle spec'd version with Intel i7 CPU, and NVIDIA RTX A1000 instead. Need it for engineering consulting, ML models and video editing. I will post my feedback later.
@@kevins6130 It is excellent. Ticks all my boxes, the battery capacity is great, picks up any workload you throw at it, it is quiet and looks and feels super professional. I like that there is no NVIDIA GPU sticker on the chassis. There are some minuses - the obvious price tag, and while this GPU handles a lot, I think you could get a higher-spec GPU with other laptop brands such as ASUS for a lower price tag, and some models may even have an OLED display. But I am not a fan of ASUS.

Nice PC for business users. Mics were good and camera was fair. Most users will be using this as a workstation and will not care about the camera so much. Port selection was good. When you think about it one port will be used for charging and one for the dongle leaving two usb-c ports available. Dell designed this right. Display is good. Overall a good 14 in unit for the type of users this is designed for. Speakers sounded good. Great review.
wow. still not good enough. i am a life long windows user and work professionally using their enterprise products. that said, I tried the base 8GB RAM M2 air this week. absolutely blown away. the performance, heat and battery life is another world. sadly, it is destroying Windows x86 out of the water. there is no hope in the mobile space for all these Windows machines that I have been looking into this year.
As a life long Windows user and recently switching over to Apple silicon I have to agree. Nothing comes close to Apple Silicon performance efficiency. I just hope Intel and AMD stay competitive and claw back

XPS 14 would be a great addition to XPS line up. Dell should have actually brought in XPS14 2 years ago instead of XPS 13 Plus

This is not about x86 vs ARM. Its about TSMC 3nm/4nm/5nm versus intel "7" wich is 10nm. Lets hope for a big jump in efficiency with intel "4".
