The double karts, special items and crazy animations for the rear characters are just some the reasons why I love double dash so much. Don't get why this game was so hated back in the day. Glad to see it's getting the love it deserves now.
Techically I was already used to the whole "2 characters per kart" thing since I was only 3 years old when this game came out, and believe it or not: MKDD was actually da 1st Mario Kart game I ever played in my life! So... I've never really had a problem with 2 characters per kart! (Only issue is that 2 people racing together could never work on a footrace without using vehicles unless said otherwise)
the frame rate is so good because they are masters at texturing and minimalistic design!!! that coupled with perfect texturing is a good result aesthetically speaking!!!!

And I always wondered what exactly "Frantic' mode did in Versus and as far as I can tell from this video it makes obtaining green shells and bananas impossible. And maybe perhaps Blue Shells more likely to obtain because there seemed to be a bit more of them during these races than usual lol
When GameCube games do come for switch online and Mario Kart is one of the games to appear on the service I will play nonstop until I unlock everything and play this game with my friends and family just like old time!
If you still have friends who play, (I don't), get a Gameshark and use it to play with Purely Random Items. Meaning _any_ character can get _any_ item. It makes this game _so_ much more fun! You can get a Blue Shell in 1st place and just hold everyone behind you hostage if they're bold enough to pass. lol It's the best! lol
My only grip with VS mode is that you don’t have an opinion to keep track of points but instead just play random number of tracks and who wins just wins. That’s not to say VS isn’t fun because it really is, I just wish we had and option to keep track of the number of points and races one won.
I use the same setup as Player 2, so I was rooting for them the whole vid. Seeing them get 0 wins, finally get a commanding lead on Rainbow Road, only to have it all coke crashing down... that's rough, buddy

While they aren't normally available in 4 player, there is a code that makes them show up. The only thing I didn't like about it was it sort of messes up the item balance, because usually, the 4 human players are in the top 4 positions, so they aren't able to get, for example, a blue shell.
That's something I don't think everyone can agree on. Personally, I see nothing wrong with glancing over at what items another player is holding. It's just part of the splitscreen experience.
